What Would A Global Nuclear Conflict Look Like?

Via The End of the American Dream

I simply do not understand why so many on the left and so many on the right seem determined to push us into a military conflict with Russia.  If we get into a shooting war with Russia, one side or the other will inevitably decide that they want to use their nuclear weapons before the other side conducts a surprise first strike of their own.  But no matter who strikes first, the whole world would lose, because the vast majority of the global population would end up dead within a few years.  This is why I have been so adamant about trying to find a peaceful solution to the crisis in Ukraine.  If we have a nuclear conflict with Russia, the vast majority of you that are reading this article would die.

But only a certain percentage of you would die immediately.  According to a study that was conducted in 2008, only about one-fifth of the U.S. population would initially be wiped out by a full-blown barrage of Russian missiles.  The following comes from the Alliance for Science

One 2008 study looked at a Russia-US nuclear war scenario, where Russia would target 2,200 weapons on Western countries and the US would target 1,100 weapons each on China and Russia. In total, therefore, 4,400 warheads detonate, equivalent to roughly half the current inventories held each by Russia and the US.

Nuclear weapons held by other states were not used in this scenario, which has a 440-Mt explosive yield, equivalent to about 150 times all the bombs detonated in World War II. This full-scale nuclear war was estimated to cause 770 million direct deaths and generate 180 Tg of soot from burning cities and forests. In the US, about half the population would be within 5km of a ground zero, and a fifth of the country’s citizens would be killed outright.

So the good news is that if there was a nuclear exchange between the United States and Russia tomorrow, there is a good chance that you would survive.

But the bad news is that you would probably soon starve to death.

Another study that was released in 2019 determined that the “nuclear winter” that would follow a full-blown nuclear war would result in a dramatic cooling of the planet for a number of years

A subsequent study, published in 2019, looked at a comparable but slightly lower 150 Tg atmospheric soot injection following an equivalent scale nuclear war. The devastation causes so much smoke that only 30-40 percent of sunlight reaches the Earth’s surface for the subsequent six months.

A massive drop in temperature follows, with the weather staying below freezing throughout the subsequent Northern Hemisphere summer. In Iowa, for example, the model shows temperatures staying below 0°C for 730 days straight. There is no growing season. This is a true nuclear winter.

Virtually no food would be grown for an extended period of time, and billions of people would starve to death.

So if you believe that nuclear war is coming, you need to store up enough food to feed yourself and everyone else that will be depending upon you for multiple years.

Prior to 2022, not too many people were thinking about such things.  But now one recent poll found that 82 percent of Americans are concerned that the war in Ukraine “will involve nuclear weapons”

Eighty-three percent said they’re concerned that the war is increasing the cost of goods and services like gasoline, 82 percent said they’re concerned that the war will involve nuclear weapons, and 74 percent said they’re concerned the U.S. will send combat troops to fight in Ukraine.

A combined 57 percent of respondents said they believe the U.S. is already at war with Russia (16 percent) or that it will be within the next year (41 percent).

And that same survey discovered that the vast majority of Americans do not have much confidence in Joe Biden’s ability to bring us through this crisis successfully…

Twenty-eight percent in the poll said they have either a “great deal” (12 percent) or “quite a bit” (16 percent) of confidence in Biden’s ability to respond to Russia’s war with Ukraine and manage the crisis.

That’s compared to a combined 71 percent who said they have “just some” (27 percent) or “very little” (44 percent) confidence in Biden — including 43 percent of Democrats who said they have just some (36 percent) or very little (7 percent) confidence.

In my recent article entitled “We Are In So Much Trouble”, I detailed a very dangerous series of gaffes that Biden has made in just the past week.

I was particularly alarmed when Biden suggested that there should be regime change in Russia.  That is the kind of remark that can send paranoia among Russian leaders to critical levels.

Of course White House officials hurried to “clarify” Biden’s remarks later on, and they have started giving Biden cue cards to use during his interactions with reporters…

But shouldn’t it disturb us that we have a president that has lost so much mental ability that he now has to rely on cue cards provided by his staff?

Senator Rand Paul is convinced that this is evidence that Biden’s cognitive decline has become a very real threat to national security at this point…

On Monday, Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul took issue with Biden’s use of cue cards to answer reporters’ questions regarding his off-the-cuff remarks about Putin.

Paul questioned Biden’s acuity, saying the aging president’s remarks were a threat to national security.

‘A lot of times when you’re around somebody who’s in cognitive decline, you find yourself trying to help them with a sentence, trying to help them complete it – but we shouldn’t have to do that for the commander-in-chief,’ he told Fox News.

And Tucker Carlson has told his audience that he believes that it is time for the 25th Amendment to be invoked

Fox News host Tucker Carlson has hit back at President Biden’s off-script gaffes about Vladimir Putin’s removal and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, saying it’s time to ‘invoke the 25th amendment’ to remove the commander in chief from office.

‘The joke is over. Too much is at stake,’ Carlson said on Monday during his show Tucker Carlson Tonight. ‘If there ever was a time — if there was in U.S. history ever a time to invoke the 25th Amendment, it is now.

Of course they are both 100 percent correct.

Joe Biden has always been a hothead, but now he we have a hothead in an advanced state of cognitive decline leading our nation at a moment when we are perilously close to nuclear war.

That is a recipe for disaster.

So let us hope for the best, but let us also continue to prepare for the worst.

The foundational premise rests upon the existence of a nuclear arsenal.

With the exception of government assurances, how would anyone know that these weapons actually exist?

Let’s put that aside for the moment.

The conclusion of the piece is that the President of the United States is and has always been a hothead who is now in a state of cognitive decline, therefore we are now facing what the author refers to as a recipe for disaster.

How so? In the previous paragraph he points out that the President has come to rely on cue cards provided by others in order to engage in a press conference. This would indicate- at least to someone who is trying to follow the logic above-that he is not in a position to handle a simple Q&A without someone behind the scenes helping him complete his sentences. How then would his hotheaded behavior and nuclear weapons synthesize into a thermonuclear war- assuming that such weaponry actually exists?

Joe Biden may occupy the White House and hold the title of the President of the United States of America, but he is clearly being managed through his dementia by unknown actors- if his cognitive decline is in fact real rather than an act.

There is simply no way for anyone to know what the actual situation is at this time, absent insider access.

The fact of the matter is this- throughout the last fifty years or so the US has focused most of its energies, efforts and policies on managing perceptions rather than realities. Whenever there was an actual boots on the ground scenario we have come up far short of the stated goals and in fact done the exact opposite in every theater we have occupied. The greatest successes have always been in using their power to threaten, intimidate, cajole, bribe, harass, and shame populations into accepting their increasingly bizarre demands and policies. We live under a voluntary authoritarianism where it is easier to submit than to resist.

Worrying about a WWIII scenario is about as useful as worrying about a worldwide pandemic, i.e. it is pointless.

Get your house in order, prepare for your future regardless of whatever may lie ahead.

“If his cognitive decline is in fact real, rather than an act”. You can’t be serious. The man is a walking, mumbling poster child for advanced Alzheimer’s. He cannot pronounce the simplest words, and rarely can finish a sentence coherently. He has uncontrolled outbursts of anger at trivial matters (a hallmark of Alzheimer’s). He cannot tell the difference between his wife and sister. He contradicts his own statements, often within minutes of making them. He stumbles around (ataxia) and wanders off any time the secret service lets him off his leash. Pedo Joe has no idea of what flavor of oatmeal he had for breakfast, or whether his Depends are full or not. Given enough time and latitude, he WILL get us into a full blown conflict, possibly nuclear, with Russia and China. Pull your head out of your rear, put down the crack pipe, and pay attention to what is happening to our previously great country.

I didn’t say he wasn’t cognitively impaired, my estimation is that he had early onset dementia going back as least as far as his Vice-Presidency, but that’s just like, my opinion, man. To be fair he’s probably the only guy I have ever seen whose earlobes miraculously morphed into the connected neck version he sports these days. Absent plastic surgery such a phenomenon is impossible to conceive of, short of a stand in that resembles the original model, but once more, no way to ever prove it.

I’m talking about actual real life knowledge.

Operating under the premise that A) Nukes are real and B) Biden controls them is a fiction. That much is close to a lock, unless it is an actor portraying someone with dementia, something I consider unlikely, but theoretically possible. You have to consider everything when you’re analyzing these creatures.

And that was me NLI.

I am stoked to get that many downvotes though, it always indicates I’m onto something.

p.s.

I was going to put the Google Trends graph on alopecia- another theory I put forth to massive downvoting the other day but got this message from Googs-

I looked through photos. What appears to be going on is one earlobe has had surgury and is now fused at the bottom. The other ear lobe is not attached. There are many photos which are mirror images so one one it will appear to be the left and another the right. I found enough head on photos to verify that he does have mixed earlobes, and scaring is visible from the right angle on the one that appears to be attached.

I still don’t know about the alleged corpse of Epstein and ear lobes.

I’m less worried about Biden than his handlers, who seem to be a crop of know it all overeducated whippersnappers. Jake Sullivan? Psht. They seem like the type who would downplay the odds of their getting cold-cocked at a bar because THEY would never hit anyone, it being illogical and all. Except instead of them just waking up on the floor, we could all take the hit. Look at their arrogance with these sanctions and how it never occurred to them that China, India and Saudi Arabia might have been waiting for years for the chance to tell Uncle Schlomo to fuck off.

Now they are the Jews who have a stranglehold on the world economy, banks, governments, medical industry… And they aim to kill all none-jews.

Would the 25th Amendment even apply to Biden, who wasn’t elected president? He’s not the president, the office is vacant.

But he was elected – by the Electoral College. That’s who elects the president. The fact that the Dems stuffed the ballot boxes in half a dozen states (most of which they controlled the governors and Secretaries of State) to get their electors selected is a separate issue. Most of those slates of electors were rubber-stamped by GOP-controlled legislatures that were full of Trump-haters and chickenshits who were afraid of being tarred by the media as sore losers. It’s a systemic problem for Republicans, which is why they need to win by a bigger margin.

If the electors weren’t legitimately elected by a majority of the voters in the states in question (they weren’t), then they weren’t empowered to cast their Electoral College votes for Biden – regardless of whether or not they were rubber-stamped by GOP-controlled legislatures.

Therefore, my assertion stands: Biden was not elected president and does not hold the office of president. The offices of president and vice-president are vacant.

Will the supposed “nuclear winter” last one summer? I know civilizations have been wiped out from volcanic ash that kills plant/animal life. But some have survived. We have plenty of stored food and firewood we could easily survive such a period of time. But the aftermath is what I am curious about. Radiation in soil? What happens when we throw the heirloom seeds in the ground after periods of rain dropping who knows what. And our water tables…I don’t even want to imagine how toxic the water would be.

All your assumptions are wrong there.

Nuclear Winter is a fantasy thought up by Carl Sagan, who knew nothing of nuclear weapons.

You have to get fallout to bother the soil at all. Most area’s won’t get any. Those old CD maps were badly done.

And fallout can’t get at water under the ground. Think if you threw dust/dirt on top of your yard, how long would it take to get even under the surface? Decades? Centuries?

Oh, another thing. It stops being radioactive in a very short time, most radioactivity is gone in a couple weeks.

Read Nuclear War Survival Skills, free online, to get some truth.

Also, get Don Shift’s Nuclear Survival in the suburbs for even more up to date material.

And remember, TV and movies are not REAL.

Fair enough. Movies are fantasy, but the books you reference are more of a “what if” reference. Considering we haven’t actually experienced a situation where hundreds of nuclear weapons have ravaged the earth.

Most areas won’t get fallout? The weather people can predict a storm system from the middle of the country 3-days in advance. Fallout can be carried a long way.

Fallout can’t get underground? Remember acid rain? It got into the open water ways (from rain) which leached into the ground tables.

Radioactivity gone in a couple weeks? I am not so sure about that, look at Chernobyl and Fukashima.

I am not an expert I admit that. But basing assumptions on some books that predict things at best is a little short sighted.

Fair enough. But that is 77 years later and wasn’t there an extensive cleanup involved with that? Why is Chernobyl so different other than the Russians/Ukrainians didn’t do much to clean it up? I am asking as someone who is far from a SME.

Chernobyl was a nuclear power plant that had a non-nuclear explosion that threw tonnes of nuclear fuel around.

Just like a dirty bomb.

A nuclear weapon has a fist size lump of material that is vaporized when a nuclear explosion occurs.

Chernobyl contamination was way overstated and nature cleaned most of it very quickly, even evolving mushrooms that photosynthesize on x and gamma rays.

I had a client that flew B-17s in World War 2, then went on to fly B-29s and B-52s and was an early pilot with Strategic Air Command. He flew a bunch of Generals for the observation of the Bikini Hydrogen Bomb test, and interesting story in its on right.
Anyway he said the best explosion for the ultimate damage by a Nuclear Weapon was detonation in a shallow lake or bay where it would lift the soil and water up for maximum radiation contamination.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki were air burst.
He also said Russia has tested an outer-space nuclear blast where the US never did, for what that is worth.

I had written a whole paragraph explaining to you where your wrong and why.

But why should I bother, you probably haven’t prepared for anything, at all, and your not even going to try the least to survive this.

So, when the fallout comes down, go out and bath in it.

That will solve all your concerns as you microwave yourself to death over a couple weeks.

FEMA courses? Why would I trust anything FEMA does? They are terrible.

I have an engineering background with a lot of science, including chemistry. I know the basics of radiation, enough to know that a nuclear detonation will create millions of years worth of radiation. The splitting of a Uranium/Plutonium atom results in a lot of resulting elements, many of which are radioactive.

I have read a lot of books..and many to read yet. Sorry I don’t have all the time in the world like you.
