One drawback without CHL is traveling. Every state surrounding Texas requires it for personal carry. Perhaps that will change with time.
Correction, Oklahoma is CC and Arkansas approved along with Texas.
OK restricts any carry in places of gambling. Seems that is where carry would be needed most.
