We are quickly reverting back to the Dark Ages. Cooking and keeping warm with fossil fuels may become a luxury as the energy crisis spreads across the West. Reports are growing from Germany that people are stockpiling firewood before the winter season. Google search results for “brennholz” (firewood) peaked this August in Germany as their government announced they would continue supporting Ukraine indefinitely.
Half of German homes are heated by natural gas, while a quarter uses oil. Less than 6% reported using firewood, but that is set to change as even firewood is now in a shortage. Germany’s Federal Firewood Association announced earlier in the summer that wood was becoming scarce. People are now importing firewood from Poland, but people there are also buying up firewood as no one can afford these rising prices. Governments are offering no solutions, and people have reason to fear the future.
Versorgungssicherheit is a word describing the fear of a shortage. Due to this fear, many companies are rationing the number of firewood bundles people are allowed to buy. The Federal Network Agency expects gas prices to TRIPLE by early 2023. The energy crisis spreading across the West will result in growing civil unrest and could trigger a major geopolitical event across Europe as people will be faced with hardships this winter not seen in a lifetime.

When for Christ’s sake will Germans come to understand that government-all governments are the enemy? When Germany was separate city-states their lives were so much better off. Their misery started when their super-state central governments were established. Here’s a hint: The Bismarck was sunk before it could even enter battle. A complete bust. Please learn from this.
Not any time soon.
In polls, the Greens (=strongest pusher for the organized collapse, in the current government) have increased their share compared to the election in 2021, from 14.8% to now around 24%.
The Bismarck sunk a few British ships before it was disabled.
Spectacularly so, I might add…
They can either burn down their occupational government or they can suffer the consequences. Same as everywhere else.
If I were in Germany, I’d be looking at old geology maps to find coal veins, and renting some heavy equipment.
Damn good point. There are a TON old coal mines in this area, well, the whole freaking region. A good resource to track.
They will just hang you for stealing the Kings
deercoal.I wonder how many German police would accept three tons of coal as a bribe?
Saw a video couple days ago … don’t remember where … of a 10 kilometer long line of cars at a Polish coal mine.
Suggestion for Germany …. when you run out of wood, burn Ukrainians.
Methinks that the Germans could find a better “use” for that firewood.
We’re living in an older house, built in the early 70’s and it is heated with baseboard heaters and has an old fireplace. Electric bills were horrid, $1500 – $2K/mo in the winters, depending on how cold the winter got.
We had a nat gas fireplace insert installed and heating went down to 200 max a month, last winter. If nat gas prices go off the charts I’ll pull the insert and start burning the wood I have. Ol stucky won’t be get’n that guitar I said I’d send’m… which btw, haven’t forgot, just haven’t built any due to the scamdemic and tending a couple dementia persons…
Hi Brian,
It is a shitload of work but we redid a friends place that was similar. We put Durofoam (green one side, silver Mylar the other, shiny side in) on all the walls and ceiling, then drywall for walls and paneling for the ceiling. When we were finished you damned near could heat the place with a candle. Had to make recess frames for all sockets.
You might want to do just a single wall to try it.
Thx for the heads up. Def going to look into that.
We have a lot of rebuilding to do, just finished the kitchen cabinets and drywalled behind them, but I can pull them down easily and reinsulate, rehang the cabinets in a about 2 – 3 days.
I should have looked at reinsulating but just didn’t consider it at all… sigh To many big projects and tight on time. Kitchen, bathroom deck and ramp… Myself and I don’t work worth shyte so that just left me to do all the work…
Heres what I’m working with
https://postimg.cc/47HfJw66
I forgot to say and not sure if obvious, we left the original walls as they were and put this on top. Thus the recess frames.
Also, with the additional insulation and second layer of drywall, it is eerily quiet inside. Partly because we replaced the single panes windows with doubles and a couple of triple panes, which I did not even know existed before.
I see. That is actually pretty cool looking.
Good luck with the project.
Wholly Shiite!
Yep, never heard of a heating bill like $1500-$2000. That is cray cray.
I’ll have nightmares if I ever go to bed. Those figures ad up to more than this cowboy makes.
Baseboards are hugely inefficient thats why I’m eliminating them.
Where I can I’m splitting the circuits into two 15amp runs to give me more outlets where needed. Small 100amp panel with almost half the panel used up with 220 breakers, all heaters. So we’ve replaced everything with nat gas from cooktop to fireplace. HUGE difference.
bucknp – you and me both my friend. One months electric bill in winter is literally what I have as income in a year. I’ve got it down now to under $200/mo year round.
Wish I had natural gas. As a one time oil baron in Texas, leases often included stipulation a land owner could tap into gas wells for personal use of the gas, homes mostly. A gas pipeline runs through my property. Unfortunately the land owner at the time did not have the insight to request utilization of the gas.
If I remember correctly ur place Glock is a lot of glass… I’m assuming your primary heat is wood, yes?? How many cord you use in a winter?? Whats a cord worth in ur area??
A hardware store I worked averaged $600 a day during summer a year ago. But that’s commercial. I cannot imagine with the increases in electricity and the heat wave this summer what the electric bills averaged. The HVAC system was original 1976. With 16 foot ceilings and no insulation other than ceiling panels it was plenty Texas hot in the summers. The cold in winters was not so terrible as I dressed for it and besides, working there during the winter made the day pass as I felt I was camping.
I heat my house only with fire wood. The pump house has a electric heater set at 50F, and the cabin is set at 60F, with a propane backup stove. I pay 20$ for a forest permit to cut 8 cords. I haul it home in my M35a2 in about 6 trips. it holds a lot more, but its a lot of work to toss the rounds up 5 feet into the bed.
You seriously have one of these? Wow.
I wants one…
With fuel prices in Canada, you really don’t. But they are awesome rigs.
https://www.easternsurplus.net/VehiclesList/19/M35-Deuce-and-a-Half/1
It “sucks” badly for fuel mileage, I worked on a lot of these.
Probably not used for commuting, eh?
about 6 MPG, but I have a multi fuel, so I can burn gas, diesel, kerosine, and waste oil….just mix it all up and dump it in. waste oil must be filtered/centrifuged first. I live a little remote, so I dont drive it 20 miles to town. Besides, I don’t like going to town.
What happened to Bio Willie? I liked the smell of French fries from vehicles using it.
What is needed is fuel from potatoes. Vodka may not work. And with potatoes republicOns and demontoads can hand out potato subsidies to potato farmers like BOTH have done with corn.
yes, with a 24vdc winch I mounted on the front, and a Fixed V snow plow I put on in the winter. I dont know how to post pics.
ha ha ha…fond memories …especially driving troop transport and looking for pot holes to hit…good times.
Brian,you build guitars?
While I get you are busy ect. what would you recommend for a steel string with pickups without going overboard money wise/can do that down the road if I get any good/thanx for any thoughts.
Want to start acoustically but also want the option of “plugging in”.
I build cigar box guitars. They are a lotta fun and easy to play. 3 and 4 string jobs a nd bulit a few canjo’s too… Easy to build. I also juice all my guitars up so they can all be amp’d up because very few cigar boxes have any acoustic s to them.
If ur interested in building one go to cigarboxnation.com Its the best resource site for builders, TONS of info and some great people all willing to help.

Had a fakebook page but since long abandoned. Ol Brown Barn Products. Some of my guitars are posted there, not sure you can see them without logging in.
Edited: If you want to try your hand at build’n a CBG I can send you the materials. Tuners, strings, frets and pickup all for the cost of nada… Just send me an address to send the stuff to you. Email me at [email protected] with ur address.
That is cool as hell what you build.
That said, need a 6 string minimum with pickup(Why,because if I am bothering to play what I want).
Having been in a band decades back(singer/songwriter)partially tone deaf never bothered to play much,as I get older trying to rectify that deficit and perhaps wire into a nice stack if I feel I have gotten to that point.
Keep building, the world will need happy sounds including music more then ever in the future!
brother if you ever change ur mind let me know and I’d be happy to supply you what you need.
BTW, people ask about the three strings all the time. How can you play anything with only three strings. I tell’m its the same as six but you only have to play half the song… Heres a ditti on a three string…
or
and yup, its a six string CBG…
and for the ladies…
Justin is an amazing guitarist. He’s made quite a few videos.
that he is… very talented…
Now you know. You never, ever buy a house with electric heat. I learned the hard way too.
Dumb Germans, don’t they know the BTU value of the Fruit of Islam?
Start by stocking up enough good sized pieces of lumber to construct gallows.
No need. Plenty of sturdy trees.
They just need to stock up on the will to act, like everybody else.
Add rope.
Not sure it’s legal. Not legal in much of The People’s ‘land’ in the US.
Hmmmm…..,could right now get about 14 cord dumped and split/green hardwood for a ounce of gold.
Tomorrow/next week,eh……,who knows.
100 years ago in Germany….trying to stay warm
save all cardboard boxes, pizza boxes, newspaper (the free weekly 4 page locals) as you will need something other than wood to get it started, especially if not fully seasoned. Pallets are not fun to break apart and full of nails.
Pallets actually with a sledge break up easy(personally use em to stack wood on).
When they reach a point of no usefulness then burn, that said, have a magnet on a small pole to get nails out of ash before dumping said ash in garden/woods,keeps me or deer ect. from stepping on nails.
Those magnets on a stick are handy dandy.
I have about 2 pallets of cardboard saved up for gardening and food forest.
Every time they do things get more screwed up.
I was going to say burn cattle dung like Augustus McCrae may have done but since cattle are being banned, never mind.
As WW1 and WW2 showed, the Germans will follow their corrupt government into anything. Sad what many will experience going forward.
So they politically cause an energy crisis, and now they are going to ration the ways people are trying to deal with it?
Get them used to rationing and poof, it becomes The New Normal for those who can’t remember last week never mind history.
All going according to the master plan I am sure.
Will Germans wake the hell up? No. They watch TV. They are mind controlled fools just like most Americans.
Moar beer und foosball for the serfs.
It would behoove the American people to follow this example because the threat of power outages will NOT be restricted to just Germany. This is a GLOBAL PLAN which means Klaus Schwab will ensure the entire planet will suffer so that eventually, ALL PEOPLE will beg for the “Great Reset” to end the suffering of the people of the world.
Might have to stock up on some Oktoberfest beers, who knows what Munich & Germany will be like at this time next year?
