Indian Summer. I don’t know the tune. I do know about “Indian Summers” at least in Texas.
I forget the year but within the past 20, Texas had an “Indian Summer” that was totally unreal. Temperatures during October hit 100 degrees and for a number of days.
TCU in Fort Worth hosted UTEP in a football game at Amon Carter stadium. It was a day game and the high temperatures reached 100. People in the stands were dropping like flies from the heat that day “enjoying” a good ole football game.
I was living on the third floor of an apartment at the time and during those hotter than normal “Indian Summer” days I could not stay in my own apartment the air conditioning compressors were so piss poor and “exhausted”.
Indian Summer
By a band called Poco
One of their best
Beautiful. Love Dave Brubeck.
I was going to post this on Sunday classics, but I’m afraid of being lectured for not posting a classical piece.
Here is a wonderful quote by Confucius on the importance of music to a civilization/culture … especially take note of the last line.
====================== =
“Music is the harmonization of heaven and earth, and ritual is the order of heaven and earth. It is through the Odes (poetry) that a man’s mind is aroused, through the rules of ritual that his character is established, and through music that he is perfected…
“The only way for society to thrive is to be in tune with the universal norm indicated through music… Rituals are not simply a matter of decorum. They are the institutions, orders and norms that developed from primitive magical ritual and unite the universe with society.
“If one wants to know whether a kingdom is well governed, whether its morals are good or bad, the quality of its music will provide the answer.”
Y’all take music too seriously.
Well … looking at our ‘kingdom’ and how it’s ‘governed’ … and our ‘morals’ … I agree, Stucky, that the quality of our noise (it’s certainly NOT music) provides the answer …
Andrei Martyanov posted this on his blog a couple days ago. He said …”two new Irish sensations who are amazing and bring back this real rock feel.”
Maybe, maybe not. Posting this for Admin and other Irish folk … and because the gals are very pretty.
overrated.
Off on a tangent, on a slightly diff theme…no offense intended; hopefully none taken.
“Two for Tuesday???”
Say : YES! to alternative options…
…because love will find a way, always, in this roundabout world of ours.
Well,if we are going off the reservation here is my favorite by Areosmith:
The reason I brought it up is they played Fenway Park last week and from all reviews was a awesome show!
They played 19 songs, opened with Back In The Saddle/Draw The Line and played mostly from their 70’s catalogue including Dream On which I have heard too much but get for a lot of folks their first time and needed to be played. They hit Rag Doll and Hang Man Jury from the 80’s,both great tunes for that era.
You ask,why did I not go,tis simple,ethics.
First as a Boston Boy growing up never went to Fenway, they a few years back hung outside stadium a black lives matter banner and said would never set foot in there!
The band is doing a gig for 2 months in Vegas and then no shows, hope they add a Boston show for New Years! For many a year the Garden would have either J Geils or Areosmith New Years, was a great run of shows for a young guy.
I saw videos of Fenway show and the boys for being in their 70’s hit it hard.
I also found out they did a warmup gig in Maine after the fact, dammit!
Oh,Boston band Extreme got together to back up Smith, they also sounded great!
OK,will now tow the line with a summer song, tis Sam Halen:
I always thought that the proper name was VanHagar?
Well then,
These Tue are So Far Away from this Two’sday theme,
but they do have one thing in common,
besides being pretty good tunes, in one man’s humble opinion.
Summer …
… into Fall …
Boys of Summer is my fave, but this is a close second.
