I did a “speed shift” from 1st to 2nd on my ’61 Falcon Ranchero and the pot metal shift collar broke. It stayed in 2nd until I could replace it. THOSE were the Good Old Days!

Cheapest gas I ever bought was in Maine at 26 cents a gallon.
When you consider inflation, gas is about the same price now, and was actually costlier then than it was during Trump. $0.25 in the 50’s is over $3.00 now.

In ’69, I was at the Mobil selling regular leaded for .329 & premium for .349. The no name across the street was at .299 & .329. We fixed a lot of flats and changed a lot of oil, too.
The cute girls always left with a really clean windshield.
My first new car, 1972, drove off the lot, down the block and filled up for .279. Today, they won’t even spit in the tank for that much.
