American healthcare is like American foreign policy: wreck shit and then spend a ton of money to “fix” it.

That’s funny as fuck! The anonymous guy wants to attribute something to someone!

Always hilarious when you see someone blow their own foot off.

The CDC, FDA, NIH, Pharmaceutical companies and MSM are ALL complicit in this cover-up. They ridiculed, censored, threatened and silenced those of us who tried desperately to bring this information to the public, and hundreds of thousands died as a result.

i believe that you are mostly correct 4 several reasons —
the lack of political will to take on big pharma is one —
# 2 is that to truly reduce costs, patients need to have far more financial skin in the game–
do you think career politicians will risk the wrath of the voters to enact that?
remember back in the late 80s or early 90s when congress slightly raised what medicare beneficiaries had to pay?
that famous video of congressman rostenkowski in a car that was being pummeled by a group of elderly free shitters ?
#3 is that we cannot continue to provide care to people who are near death & are are almost certainly going to die soon —

As a family physician, I agree mostly with Dr. Abramson. Where I disagree is when he has a glimmer of hope at the end that people at opposite ends of the political spectrum can come together and address the problem of the pharmaceutical industry. It won’t happen. Too much money at stake for the politicians in the form of political donations and lobbyist handing out cash. Likewise, the insurance companies won’t seriously address the problem because they can continue to pass the ever increasing costs to companies and consumers (for now). More importantly, they don’t want to get burned again by consumers, lawyers and politicians as they did in the nineties when they tried to rein in costs.

One possible outcome is that the current trajectory of cost increases continues until the country is seriously faced with bankruptcy and, like a family facing bankruptcy, has to make serious and urgent changes. In the meantime, one should take care of him/herself and family and try to find a physician whom you can trust.
