A co-worker took me to a J B meeting once while I was in Chicago. He did not tell me what type of meeting it was, but I went with an open mind. They had some good ideas, but also some that were too far out for me.

Up until the erly 2000s, there were “Get the US out of the UN” billbords all over MS & AL.
The best billboard ever is outside of Ridgeland SC, informing us that Sheridan, Sherman, Grant & Lincoln are all terrorists and War Criminals.

First job I had was with a trucking company (I was 15, worked part time fueling, parking, tarping open loads, early 70s). Some of the drivers were characters.
One had an old style lunch box (you know- thermos in the top, sandwich and chips below) that he’d attached a “Get US out of the United Nations” bumper sticker to. He’d put the box up on the dash with the sticker facing out so people could see. Eventually the company found out and made him keep it out of sight.
I was too young to know anything about it but he was the first “activist” I ever met.
Times change; I wanted the UN dead for 50 years; if we quit now, China and Russia take over completely, so we need to stay with a veto to torpedo their big plans. Just pay the minimum dues and cancel the building lease.

I grew up outside of Boston in the 50’s and 60’s and my Dad was a member of the JBS. When I was old enough to carry on a conversation he (my Dad) said we should get out of the UN and I have (as the years have flown by) wished we had. He had me read the newsletters as they arrived.
I think my parents were the only two people in town to vote for Goldwater (and Nixon 4 years earlier). We lived on an old farm and my Dad put up a giant Au H2O “poster” ( about 20 x 8 feet) on the top of the wall of a 3 story barn.
In the summer of ’66 we lost everything (including all the JBS newsletters) to a fire that took both our home and barn ( the real meaning of ‘up in smoke’).
