President Xi Jinping has urged the Chinese military to prepare for real combat, national media reported on Wednesday. The remarks came days after Beijing held massive military drills around Taiwan which reportedly involved the simulation of precision strikes on the self-governing island.
Addressing military personnel at a navy base in Southern China on Tuesday, Xi called for the strengthening of “military training oriented toward actual combat,” as quoted by the state-run CCTV channel.
The Chinese leader is reported to have named the defense of Beijing’s “territorial sovereignty and maritime interests” as well as the protection of “overall peripheral stability” as the navy’s core mission.
On Saturday, China launched three-day military exercises codenamed ‘United Sharp Sword’ in the vicinity of Taiwan.
According to Taipei’s military, it detected nine warships and some 71 warplanes in the area the following day.
Senior Colonel Shi Yi, spokesman for the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Eastern Theater Command, described the vessels and aircraft as “encircling” the island. He clarified that the drills were meant as a warning “against the collusion between separatist forces seeking ‘Taiwan independence’ and external forces, and against their provocative activities.”
The military maneuvers came on the back of a visit by Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen to the US last week, when she met with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
The meeting was the second time Tsai had sat down with a US House speaker in less than a year. A visit by McCarthy’s predecessor, Nancy Pelosi, to Taiwan in August infuriated Beijing, which responded with its largest-ever drills in the Taiwan Strait.
Taiwan has been de facto independent since 1949, when the losing side in the Chinese civil war fled to the island and established its own administration. While only a handful of nations have recognized Taiwan as a sovereign state, the US has long maintained close, unofficial ties with Taipei, both militarily and economically. Formally, Washington still professes to adhere to the ‘One-China’ principle.
Beijing considers the island to be an inalienable part of its territory that has been seized by separatists, and accuses the US of meddling in its domestic affairs and encouraging “secessionist” politicians.
While the Chinese leadership says it prioritizes a peaceful ‘reunification’, it has not ruled out military options. (RT)

I believe that one of Xi’s main goals in going to Moscow was to secure longer-range hypersonic missiles than China currently possesses. They need a range longer than the missile range from US aircraft carriers. That way, before a US carrier comes within range of being able to fire on China, they’ll be within range of hypersonics that the carrier has no defense against.
The idea of the US being able to keep Taiwan separate from Mainland China for any significant length of time is ridiculous. They are ethnically, culturally and linguistically connected – aside from being a mere 100 miles apart. The US should focus on filling our own potholes, arresting riotous packs of thieves and doing something about the hundreds of thousands of mentally ill and/or addicted zombies wandering our streets.
I would settle for the military stopping the unimpeded invasion by 2 million people a year across our southern border.
So, shell the border?
A squad every 1,000 yds should do the trick.
ROE – NOBODY crosses the border.
Send the FBI. Did you see the nifty boats mounting machineguns they had when they raided Roger stone and also at Mar-a-lago? Perfect for actual law enforcement on rivers assuming they remember what actual rule of law is.
We could probably handle it with snipers.
Mine it.
6,000 mph missile is going approximately 1.6-1.7 miles per second. If spotted 17 miles out you have ten seconds. Even if you engage it with a Phalanx gun a mile or two out the wreckage would be hitting you at hypersonic speed.
If you think our military leadership understands and has solutions, I will submit that no competent military person would be promoting Clownfaggotworld and experimental drugs for their people.
2 years ago the Chinese launched a missile in a southern polar orbit. The hypersonic glide vehicle de-orbited and stuck a 1000 foot long target. The Chinese have no need of Russian technology to defend from American carriers.
The Chinese have full size carrier targets on a rail system so it moves.
Meanwhile the US Navy:

When the US goes around killing and bombing, they call it:
“Defending democracy”
When anyone else does it, it’s called:
“Undermining world peace.”
Our hypocrisy is limitless.
I for one am looking forward to the USSA blundering into Armageddon with China.
If you ever see hostile CCP Special Forces conducting military operations against us on American soil then my advice…use large caliber weapons, I don’t think the 5.56 is going to slow them down without very accurate shot placement from what I’ve seen.
HIPS AND LIPS
Hey, can I play?
Rears and ears!
Eyes and thighs.
William, what have you seen? I’m interested
Now that I think about it, the soldiers were Norks, sorry for the misinfo. Not sure which website, might have been Rumor Mill, it featured the North Korean special forces doing amazing things that we would assume weren’t possible without very serious injury.
De facto indepence is a shaky prospect in this case. It was the ROC (Taiwan) who represented China at the UN but only up until October 1971. When the PRC replaced them at the UN, the claims of the ROC became a bit murkier. I feel like we coulda / shoulda done more to bolster their independence status since WW2, but we did not.
Now they are floating the idea of destroying Taiwan Semiconducter before letting it fall to the Chinese. Strange times.
