Belief in God, heaven, hell, angels and the devil is slowly falling in the United States, according to Gallup data.
As Statista’s Anna Fleck reports, while most U.S. Americans still believe in each of the religious entities, they have all seen a downward trend of between three to five percentage points in the past seven years.
When looking back to the turn of the millennium, a more pronounced trend can be seen, with belief in God having fallen from 90 percent of respondents in 2001 to 74 percent in 2023, while belief in heaven slid from 83 percent to 67 percent in that time.

A closer look at the data shows that frequent churchgoers, Protestants and Republicans are the most likely groups to say they believe in the polled entities. Women were also slightly more likely than men to believe in God, angels, heaven and hell, while both sexes were tied over their belief in the devil.
Gallup has polled respondents on their belief in God using slightly different wording over the years, which produces slightly different results each time.

It’s part of what is referred to as The Great Apostasy. Remember Christ asked, “When the Son Of Man returns, will He find Faith on Earth?”
Of course the more Church leaders tinker with things the more people tend to fall away or break away which is why there’s somewhere around 30 thousand different denominations of Christianity. And then in the 60’s with The Second Vatican Council and it’s “innovations,” novelties and abuses that followed in its wake there was a massive falling away in The Catholic Church too. And the Catholic Bishops are absolutely tone deaf and willfully ignorant when it’s painfully obvious that Traditional Latin Mass Parishes are bursting at the seems every Mass while Novus Ordo Parishes are dying and closing left and right. The People of Faith, the true believers want Orthodoxy and the timeless teachings and traditions that go all the way back two thousand years to Christ and The Apostles themselves.
There’s many reasons why the belief in the afterlife is declining. It seems there’s more reasons coming every year that passes. But I’d say to anyone regardless of what faith they practiced, regardless of denomination, whether an atheist, agnostic, whatever, leave all the particular religion and denominational stuff aside, if you want a debate on The Afterlife look into accounts of Near Death Experiences. Look at them honestly. There’s tons of them. Many very credible. Many who’ve come back after being dead as a door nail who saw things and know things that they absolutely could not have seen or known in any way. Set all skepticism aside and really explore the topic. Never stop questioning, never stop exploring. There’s always much more to learn.
Me personally from my own experiences, I will say there absolutely is an afterlife. We don’t just wink out of existence when we die, our consciousness does live on and more of what we were taught as children in a much more honest and innocent time is true than not.

The Koran was constructed for the same purpose but not by the Romans.
Eastern religions far surpass Christianity in that they don’t try and hide the history of who and what their gods are. In Genesis. It tells you that your Gods are many but it is ignored because it does not fit in within the boundaries of those control mechanisms.
Try reading Genesis 3:22] “Then the LORD God said, “See, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever” Ring any bells? The operative word there is “US”, meaning many. You must also understand they were not referring to actual fruit but ideas. Do you have any idea what the fruit of the Tree of LIfe is or means?
When you figure that out you might just become enlightened. Good luck because when you figure it all out you will be dumbfounded because Truth has a way of slapping you in the face to wake you up.

Rom. 3:20; 10:17), while rejecting truth will always result in confusion and hardness of heart (cf. Ps. 81:12; Rom. 1:24). This idea is communicated all throughout Scripture.

So, interesting – my experience the past couple of years is the opposite, I am sorry for the masses. Of course part of this is because I am getting older, I am 79 soon. And the major reason is that I know The Creator God of the Universe. I look forward to perfect vision and perfect hearing which I no longer have . I look forward to living in the presence of perfect love, and holiness – wow that sounds so amazing! And having a perfect relationship with who loved me long before I was born!
