I taught 20 years at UOP. It was a good school in the 1990s when the students had to be Working Adults.

I was not allowed to give failing grades even to students who cheated openly and with no shame. The Admin wanted me to be “re-educated” on how to interact with diverse students. Calling out cheating was definitely not something that the administration supported.

If you are on a US navy ship and a real war breaks out, grab a life preserver and jump overboard quick.
They would court martial you and you would spend years in Leavenworth. That is why no one is enlisting. The military isn’t that different from civilians in that respect.
ROTC recruitment appears to be down about 40% or so in my area right now according to my great niece.

When you look at the ribbons of Adm. King, a man who spent his life in the Navy and those of Franchetti, it looks like the military has started passing out participation medals.
The “fruit salad” has always been for participation . . . in combat.
I think they’re handing them out now for participating in getting the coffee for the meeting.
I know a guy who literally got one for just that.
He was a reserve navy officer who did his weekend drills at Centcom in Tampa after they closed NTC Orlando.
He was on duty the weekend Bill Clinton sent carrier based aircraft into the former Yugoslavia. Because it was a centcom operation, and because he was at Centcom HQ when they attacked he was given a ribbon for the operation the same one given to the sailors on the carrier.
He told me all he did was keep the folks in the ops room supplied with hot coffee and he got a medal for it.
Probably a Navy Expeditionary Ribbon .

There are ribbons and medals that mean nothing and others that show true bravery and heroism. Some fall in the middle, like purple hearts, a scratch or your legs blown off can both get a purple heart. See John Kerry.
What I learned was a more political officer that could write a good report earned his people a lot more accommodations, which tended to pad their own resume. Those that weren’t that political just didn’t care.
That’s how it works, they gave me ribbon for just enlisting during the Vietnam war. As long as you participate, you get the ribbon or medal.
Naval tactics then prepare for combat and stress awareness and training !
