I went to Paris in 1984 ,besides a few arab waiters I didn’t see any blacks . I stayed at the hotel Montparnasse park. One of my old college roommates recently celebrated his 25th anniversary with his wife in Paris (he & I had made a brief tour of Europe together in the late 90s).
I asked him about parts of Paris burning down while he was there – he was only a couple miles away at best – and he said he didn’t hear a thing about it. Not sure if he ever heard of Notre Dame being lit up a few years back. I couldn’t believe he had his head up his ass like that in regard to his surroundings or current events, but then again, most of my friends are like that when I think about it.
