SYSTEM UPDATE WITH RON PAUL

Guest Post by CCRider

Back in the days of ink smelling mimeographed documents I got to read essays by Murry Rothbard on Leonard Read’s Foundation for Economic Education.  Murray had magic in his essays, always tinged with optimism and humor.  In one such article he mentioned a man who would go on to change my life.  He directed my attention to a man running for congress in the state of Texas.  His name was Ron Paul.

Once smitten I couldn’t get enough of him.  My earliest remembrance was his appearance on William F Buckley’s TV show:  Firing Line.  He was generous in giving Dr. Paul a full hour to voice his views but, being the privileged Yalie frat boy he was, he couldn’t resist adding scorn and condescension, especially when Dr Paul talked about abolishing the CIA.  This was 1978. I re-watched it a few years ago and was still blown away with his courage.  Buckley (a CIA asset) was very high profile and Dr. Paul was virtually unknown.  Yet, as the world would come to expect he would not back down one inch as Buckley cynically pounded away.

I attended his speeches on two occasions. The first time was when he ran for president on the Libertarian ticket in 1988.  It was held in a hotel conference room.  The entire audience was about 25 people.  The next time was during his 2012 run in a Tampa arena with eight or ten thousand, mostly young people pulsing with exhilaration.

I’ve always touted Glenn Greenwald’s program: System Update.  He, Tucker, Judge Napolitano and Jimmy Dore are my go-to podcasts.  In this episode Greenwald interviews Dr. Paul.  He precedes the interview with a preamble talking about Dr. Paul’s political history.  It’s a compilation of his greatest hits.  Of course he shows Dr. Paul’s debate clash with Rudy (now ethically and financially bankrupt) Guiliani.  I can’t get enough of that clip.

I offer this tribute to Ron Paul as my gift to my TBP family that we may all be inspired to follow the great man’s example of righteousness and determination.  The show starts at 6:00.

Merry Christmas my dear friends.

I respect Ron Paul. I take him at face value. But I am sure his time as a useful political voice has come and gone. There is nothing to discuss with longitudinally proven incompatibilities. Discussions are social standing are their incomparable MO. I did not become a fan of the vidcast.

His message is timeless; ergo, still relevant – especially as nothing has changed.

Ever hear about the ant and the rubber tree plant, or the ram butting the dam?

The colonists against Great Britain?

Brady down 25 to 3 in a Superbowl?

David and Goliath?

Samson and the jaw of an ass?

‘Since true foundation cannot fail
But holds as good as new,
Many a worshipful son shall hail
A father who lived true.’
Realized in one man, fitness has its rise;
Realized in a family, fitness multiplies;
Realized in a village, fitness gathers weight;
Realized in a country, fitness becomes great;
Realized in the world, fitness fills the skies.
And thus the fitness of one man
You find in the family he began,
You find in the village that accrued,
You find in the country that ensued,
You find in the world’s whole multitude.
How do I know this integrity?
Because it could all begin in me.

Dr. Ron Paul, the only uncompromised, honest politician I ever knew. Maybe the last. A true American Patriot!

Putin and Ukraine debacle. Reality vs the USA propaganda establishment.
“Speaking in the context of the vulnerability of surface ships to 21st-century missile capabilities, one US Navy admiral is reported to have observed, “We have two kinds of ships in the navy: submarines and targets.”
I discuss the issue at length in this essay from July 2022: Dinosaurs of the Deep Blue Sea. https://imetatronink.substack.com/p/in-for-a-pound-7c5?

fwiw, i wish to present a somewhat different perspective on the good doctor.
Speaking as a resident of his congressional district in Texas.
Being Texas, and largely under demonrat control ( redrawing district lines in an effort to derail his election), he was an immensely well respected Man.
in my neck of the woods (Austin County) he was always approachable, available, prompt with replies, dependable. Seemingly infinitely patient with all. Always calm, polite, courteous, respectful. A firm handshake, look you in the eye always.
Whether a small city’s (Pop. <1000) grand opening of their first ever public library or providing assistance to a small, rural homeschool group (in the 80s/90s this was a bit of a struggle) you could count on him!
Being a medical practitioner in various capacities myself since 1974, his medical practice, techniques, bedside manner were equally impressive.
Unlike some who perceive to live in “reality”, he was REAL. Flawed of course. Yet, humble, attentive. Aware of his shortcomings as a man/person/representative. Non-judgmental. Always striving to grow and learn. Patient, resolute, determined to help his fellow man. No matter the personal cost. What better way to offer hope to the future of mankind than by bringing a new born child forth?

I’m approaching 70. Moved abroad recently. Sadly, have lost touch with the man. But I can wholeheartedly say- he is far and away the best “politician” I have ever known. One of the most genuine man I have ever known. I am pleased my children met him and were influenced by him.
I am honored to have met and come to know him personally.

I know he should be among the Heroes of Texas- Mr. David Crockett, James Bowie, Colonel Travis, Sam Houston, et al.
He has shown himself worthy.

His friend Lew Rockwell reported that Dr. Paul would typically wear out 2 pairs of shoes going door to door campaigning for reelection.

Ron Paul. The most famous do nothing in human history. 24 YEARS in Congress and not ONE SINGLE BILL with his name on it.

“Would that you WERE hot or cold! But because you are lukewarm, I shall spew thee out…” – Jesus of Nazareth.

Every time you say “Ron Paul”, I think Judas Iscariot.

If he being the brakeman brought you to this point, of what use was your brakeman?

And Merry Christmas to you as well…Fuck nuts.

You both are right up to the point where your ideas meet in the middle as constructive ideas. You both take you opinions too far. I expect it is an emotional crusade (for social standing?) that makes you each extend your pet truth beyond tenable context. Be excellent unto one another. We are in an environment rich with targets that are orders of magnitude worse.

not ONE SINGLE BILL with his name on it

So he wasn’t interested in interfering with, or removing your rights as a citizen, and you are upset with that to the point of calling him a traitor. Me thinks you have it back asswards,

Not a “single bill,” huh? That was the fucking point. RP was against all those bills put up by the crowd, nitwit. He was often the only naysayer in the whole joint. So that’s a failure, Bible thumper?
