Doug Casey’s 2021 Predictions for Bitcoin, Gold, US Politics, and More…

doug casey predictions

Editor’s Note: 2020 was an unprecedented year. A global pandemic and the subsequent hysteria unleashed a tidal wave of government restrictions, limits on individual freedoms, and economic destruction.

In 2021, the US will have a new president, the impacts of government response to COVID will become apparent, and the money printing will accelerate. Below, International Man founder Doug Casey shares his predictions for the year ahead, including where bitcoin and gold are headed, the government’s plan for a digital dollar (FedCoin), potential geopolitical risks, and more.

The Political Situation and a Biden Presidency

I’m going to keep this article short, just hitting a few of the high points—or low points—of the coming year. Which will, I’m afraid, set the tone for the whole decade.

As Yogi Berra said, “It ain’t over ’til it’s over.” But it looks as if a Biden/Harris regime will replace the Trump regime.

I’ve explained my very mixed feelings about Trump many times before. Whatever his faults, the people in control of the Democrat party are much more dangerous. To start with, they egregiously stole the US election.

Welcome to a Wilderness of Lies

Guest Post by Kurt Schlichter

Welcome to a Wilderness of Lies

Well, this is going to be cheery. Have you noticed that everything is a lie and a scam? Everything.

See, the problem starts when our elite realized that it could break the norms and betray the principles that we all thought we were all abiding by without accountability, at least for a little while. The Establishment realized that it can simply not enforce the norms, and then there will be a lag time while the normals continue on as if the norms were still in effect. It’s inertia – this is why you get these sad sack RINOs lecturing us on how we’re subverting the institutions when what we are really doing is pointing out that the institutions have subverted themselves.

The Year Ahead

Guest Post by Paul Craig Roberts

“The price good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men.” — Aristotle

2020 ended with freedom under attack and few rising to freedom’s defense.

The United States is poised to enter 2021 with an illegitimate president, Biden, put in office by an election stolen in plain view. The incumbent president, Donald Trump, won the election. He received 10 million more votes in the 2020 election than he did when he won in 2016 and three times the black votes.  His campaign rallies were enthusiastically attended by overflow crowds.  As Americans went to sleep the night of November 3 President Trump had carried the red states and had large leads in the critical swing states.  Without foul play it was impossible for Biden to win.

What to Expect in 2021: Madness, Mayhem, Manipulation and More Tyranny

Guest Post by John W. Whitehead

“Twelve voices were shouting in anger, and they were all alike. No question, now, what had happened to the faces of the pigs. The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.”―George Orwell, Animal Farm

What should we expect in 2021?

So far, it looks like this year is going to be plagued by more of the same brand of madness, mayhem, manipulation and tyranny that dominated 2020.

Frankly, I’m sick of it: the hypocrisy, the double standards, the delusional belief by Americans at every point along the political spectrum that politics and politicians are the answer to what ails the country, when for most of our nation’s history, politics and politicians have been the cause of our woes.

Giving Up the Ghost

Guest Post by Jim Kunstler

Things are shaking loose. Secrets are flying out of black boxes. Shots have been fired. The center is not holding because the center is no longer there, only a black hole where the center used to be, and, within it, the shriekings of lost souls. Will the United States go missing this week, or fight its way out of the chaos and darkness?

Whatever occurs in this strange week of confrontation, Joe Biden will not be leading any part of it. Where has he been since Christmas? Back to hiding in the basement? Did the American people elect a ghost? Even if this storm blows over, could Joe Biden possibly claim any legitimacy in the Oval Office? And then what happens with the rest of the story — which is an epic economic convulsion sharper than the Great Depression — as time is unsuspended and the year 2021 actually unspools?

The 2021 Predictions

Guest Post by The Zman

Despite the uncertainty of the age, it is worth the time to think about what monsters are waiting for us in the new year. With The Pretender being installed in the White House, there will be new challenges on the political front. The people in charge will have a new bag of tricks to distract people from what they are doing. The media will now have to transform from their Trump hating to making Biden sound good. The world will look a lot different in just a few months.

Forecast 2021 — Chinese Fire Drills with a side of French Fries (Jacobin-style) and Russian Dressing

Guest Post by Jim Kunstler

Yes, 2021 Could Be Worse – AIER

As I write, the presidential election is still not resolved, with dramatic events potentially unfolding in the first days of the New Year. I’m not convinced that Mr. Trump is in as weak a position as the news media has made him out to be in these post-election months of political fog and noise. The January 6 meet-up of the Senate and House to confirm the electoral college votes may yet propel matters into a constitutional Lost World of political monsterdom. The tension is building. This week’s public demonstration by one Jovan Hutton Pulitzer of the easy real-time hackability of Dominion Voting Systems sure threw the Georgia lawmakers for a loop, and that demo may send reverberations into next Wednesday’s DC showdown.
