What AOC and Bernie Sanders don’t understand about ‘Free Education’

Bernie Sanders believes that FREE university education a “right, not a privilege.”

His fellow Bolshevik, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, also believes that tuition-free university “forms the basis of human dignity” and should be provided for free by any “moral society.”

They aren’t alone in holding these beliefs.

A recent survey conducted by CNBC shows that 60% of Americans support free university.

But what most of these people fail to realize is that there’s an enormous difference between an education and a university degree.

The Green Bad Deal

The recently-proposed Green New Deal is proof that climate change is for progressive Democrats what terrorism is for neoconservative Republicans: a ready-made excuse to expand government and curtail liberty. This radical plan would authorize the US government to seize control of major sectors of the US economy, phase out gasoline-fueled cars, make buildings “energy efficient,” and even replace air travel with rail travel.

Supporters of the Green New Deal claim that the science regarding the risk of climate change is “settled.” However, the science is far from settled. Many of the claims regarding climate change have been debunked.

Some supporters of policies like the Green New Deal have actually supported criminalizing dissent from the so-called “settled” science of climate change. This reveals the authoritarianism of some people demanding Americans give up real liberty and prosperity because of phantom fears of impending environmental disaster.

The Fallacy of MMT

Yes, we are all connected and these people behind MMT are idiots. This is the same old story that we can just print our way out because we owe money to ourselves. That is a nice naive theory which reflects the ignorance of those behind MMT. At the end of 2018, foreigners owned about $6.2 trillion of U.S. debt or approximately 42% of the total national debt. Meanwhile, the American public/institutions held $16.1 trillion and 23% of the national debt. The sheer numbers available from the government prove what they are saying is NOT TRUE!!!!!! Their theory that MMT is possible because we borrow from ourselves is just absurd.

Quantitative easing was the father of millennial socialism

Is Ben Bernanke the father of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez? Not in the literal sense, obviously, but in the philosophical and political sense.

As we mark the 10th anniversary of the bull market, it is worth considering whether the efforts of the US Federal Reserve, under Mr Bernanke’s leadership, to avoid 1930s-style debt deflation ended up spawning a new generation of socialists, such as the freshman Congresswoman Ms Ocasio-Cortez, in the home of global capitalism.

Mr Bernanke’s unorthodox “cash for trash” scheme, otherwise known as quantitative easing, drove up asset prices and bailed out baby boomers at the profound political cost of pricing out millennials from that most divisive of asset markets, property. This has left the former comfortable, but the latter with a fragile stake in the society they are supposed to build.

How Ocasio-Cortez’s “Green New Deal” Almost Imploded On Its First Day

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s “Green New Deal” initiative was immediately met with a torrent of ridicule after its unveiling on Thursday, not just by climate change deniers but also by establishment Democrats like Nancy Pelosi, who dismissed it as a “green dream” and insisted that there were other, more practical, ways to fight climate change than banning cow farts and airplanes.

But in what’s looking like a staggeringly haphazard rollout, the controversy over the plan continued on Friday when co-sponsor Ed Markey, the Massachusetts Senator who was the plan’s lead backer in the Senate, slammed Ocasio-Cortez and the plan’s “fact sheet” for calling for a ban on nuclear power, which supplies roughly 50% of America’s carbon-free energy.
