In the US, democracy is now a sham

Guest Post from Club Orlov

[Guest post by Ray, just in time for April Fool’s Day.]

The founding principle for this new form of government which emerged in the 18th century, was that the Common Man was the ultimate source of power. Citizen legislators would enact the laws and shape the nation’s destiny. But instead, our republic is now strong-armed by professional politicians. The two dominant concerns of these careerists are to STAY in power and to do the bidding of those who ENABLE them to stay in power. Anyone who doubts this statement might try explaining why campaign finance reform and term limits are perennially “off the table.” Actually, that is an understatement – they aren’t even in the building.

It is bad enough that the President, Congress and the Courts serve the interests of a minority that is so tiny that it is almost microscopic. What is even worse, is WHO that elite constituency is. It is exclusively THE BIGS: Big banks, Big corporations, Big agriculture, Big energy, Big pharmaceuticals, Big health care, Big high tech and the BIGGEST of them all – the military-industrial complex.

The “Vox Populi” – voice of the people is now as quaint and outmoded as telephone booths on street-corners. Even when there is a massive outpouring of disapproval for a policy – such as the enormous public outcry against Iraq Invasion 2 – the will of the people is disregarded. Instead, the “leaders” kiss the sterns of their financial backers. Ten million irate citizens cannot offset a single Halliburton.

But not only has genuine democracy vaporized, its putrid carcass is used against the ordinary person for whom it was initially conceived. Our demagogues give stirring speeches applauding our inalienable rights and the freedoms that our constitution protects. But at the same time, they barely whimper when a whistle blower reveals that the surveillance grid that is monitoring our behavior is beyond the wildest imaginings of Orwell or Huxley. And when the head of the Department of Omnipresent Surveillance admits that he lied to Congress, he is not prosecuted for perjury. Amazingly, he doesn’t even lose his job.

When the President signs the NDAA act which allows for “indefinite detention” of citizens without formal charges or without the right to a lawyer, it should be utterly clear that the boot of Soft-Core Tyranny is now on our neck. And that unchecked and almost unnoticed power continues to grow at an obscene pace. Examples of this are the militarization of small town police departments, the unending malignant growth of the Department of Homeland Security and the cessation of Posse Comitatus which keeps the military from being used as a domestic police force.

But even though our career politicians only represent the rich and the powerful, and even though they abet the steady erosion of our constitutionally ordained rights, it is even worse! That’s because despite making a mockery of democracy at home, they trumpet its virtues abroad. This is shameful Hypocrisy with a capital H.

What they are really trying to spread is not Democracy but Predatory Capitalism. They want to expand the sphere of influence of their financial backers who want greater market share in more and more markets. They do this through subtle intrusion via the IMF and the World Bank. Concurrent with this, they embrace the most corrupt and brutal local politicians they can find. The saying “He may be a genocidal dictator, but he’s OUR genocidal dictator” is not a punch-line in a joke. It is standard operating procedure for U.S. foreign policy. If this kinder, gentler approach fails, then the next steps are assassination or invasion. So the spreading of democracy leaves death, mutilation and destruction in its wake.

So, in conclusion, it appears to me that America is no longer a world-wide exemplar of how to sculpt a civilized society. Instead, it is far down the road to becoming a full-blown Corporate Police State. It has fallen so tragically, that it is now just a self-deluded leper strutting about the global stage – unaware that the theater has already emptied.

It’s done. The ‘cake’ is baked.

From government schools where the indoctrination takes place – to goverment entitlements where government control happens – to BIG everything else. The BIG corps: Walmart, as an example pay their people so little that they qualify for SNAP, and other ‘assistance’. Our government is bankrolling Walmart, Target, Home Depot, BLowes, McDonalds, Subway, etc, etc. by allowing them to pay poverty wages, then bailing out their employees. The net result is that we are picking up the tab for their employees, while they make a hefty profit by keeping costs low.

OTOH, most of the people who work at these stores, aren’t worth more than minimum wage. I think we have bred an entire class of nonfunctional idiots. What to do with them? The chipper?

The only hope I see is the outcome of the Fourth Turning.

Nonfunctional idiots? Most of those people are just as bright as the idiots that run the country, they just don’t have fancy degree & the connections.

The people I’ve met that are the smartest seem to have a combo of book smarts, street smarts, & experience. The people I know that are like that are hated by the “lower class” people (they’re too smart & jealousy rears its ugly head) & hated by the “upper classes” (who know they’re not as smart & hate that because they feel they are entitled to be smarter because of an expensive degree).

The USA was over when it became standard procedure that U needed a certificate/degree/license to do everything under the sun. U now need government approval to almost every job – a cuddlier, friendlier version of Sovietism. U cannot produce or start a business without approval from The State.

When a majority of any population prefers to be manipulated, controlled, exploited, and financially dependent on government rather than reforming government to allow them to prosper by most having good jobs and the ability to both save and spend money, then economic decline and collapse are certain.

I always believe this is about self-respect – or lack thereof. If most want to be “taken care of” by government instead of reforming government to create the conditions in which they can succeed on their own or within a company and thriving business environment not dependent on government subsidies, then they only undermine themselves, their children, and future.

We live in a socialist welfare state, not a democracy. The FSA costs more than the military. Obama lets every wetback into this country that can sign up for food stamps. There are already 10 states that have more people on welfare than have jobs. And in Ukraine and other countries, we overthrow the democratically elected government. Obama is a fascist dictator, he’s committed more than 8 impeachable offenses, and has committed treason supplying our enemy Al Qaeda in Syria. Nothing is done about any of this, and so we deserve our fate; it’s not going to be fun or pretty.

Heart, Stomach, Brain

The way to a man’s heart, as the old saw goes, is through his stomach. By which way, pray tell, does one get to his brain?

Chipotle restaurant has become a ~$19 billion business by catering to SWPL concerns about locally grown, free-range, grass-fed, non-antibiodied, non-farm-factory ingredients. That’s $19,000,000,000.00 in revenue largely for simply raising their livestock the old-fashioned way.

That’s right: old-fashioned—i.e., traditional. Look closely: What SWPL’s have admitted to, albeit if only tacitly, is that newer doesn’t necessarily mean better. In fact, newer can be unhealthy—even deadly.

You know what else is new? Racial egalitarianism. Race as a “social construct”. “White privilege”. “Microaggressions”. “Institutional racism”. The “proposition nation”. Etc.

I.e., the traditional view held by most Americans was that the races were different, and society was a racial construct. I.e., if you value peace, prosperity, freedom, justice, and the rule of law, then you would likewise also value a super-majority white nation. Lose the white super-majority, and thus you lose that which whites—and whites alone—had constructed and maintained.

Today, in our “progressive” era, such truth is verboten; the espouser and articulator of such truths is vilified and crucified (all but literally).

Our “educational” institutions are factory farms. Our children are penned in, pumped full of “antibodies” to ward off evil “white privilege” and other such malefactors borne only of white “pathogens”, and bred to be fat and docile so that they remain ignorant to the fact that their only purpose in life is to be fleeced until they are to be slaughtered.

But the SWPL have no problem with their children being treated as mindless pieces of meat to be marched off to the grinder, mooing in stupid compliance. No; that is fine. What is of paramount—and sole—concern is that chickens are free to roam about before they end up in their burrito.

To the welfare of chickens? Bottomless concern. To the future of their children and their race? Nativist! Racist! White supremacist!

What is happening to Western Civilization is beyond bullsh*t. It is outright evil.

Everyone forgets it’s the people in charge of the government & with the weapons that makes the decision of who must assimilate.

Will AWD say the same BS if the Chinese take over the world? Hey, stop complaining, just learn Chinese & act like them!

“In the US, democracy is now a ShamWow.”

If that sentence were true, the USA would at least have more value in that it’s super absorbent.
