NAPALM GIRL ANTI-WAR FILM

by Ray Jason

With our world drowning in so much senseless war and bloodshed, I have recently been thinking about finishing a project that I began several years ago. It is a short but powerful anti-war film that combines my personal Vietnam experience with the immortal message of the Napalm Girl.

However, my film-making skills are very limited. But Fate smiled upon me, and a professional film editor anchored near me a few weeks ago. After developing a friendship, I mentioned my long-dormant project.

WHAT KIND OF AMERICAN ARE YOU?

We have only seen a handful of movies in a theater over the last decade. Ever since the kids grew up, there hasn’t been a reason to spend too much for too little. Regal Cinemas in Oaks was the place to go in the old days. It had 24 theaters and was always packed. You could never get a parking spot close to the venue. The restaurant near the theater always had a line and you usually had to wait 30 minutes to get a seat.

“Our Enemy, The Fed”

Authored by George Ford Smith via The Mises Institute,

The first thing to know about Dr. Thomas E. Woods, Jr.’s’ book Our Enemy, the Fed is he’s giving it away. Click the link, get your copy and read the whole book. Clearly, such intellectual charity is not only rare but in the educational spirit of Mises.org. The subject matter is light-heavy but Woods, author of the bestseller Meltdown (reviewed here), navigates it with the smooth skill of a master, making the reader experience satisfying from beginning to end.

The title reflects another insight, paralleling as it does Albert Jay Nock’s Our Enemy, the State. Most of us were raised to believe government and its agencies serve our best interests. As libertarian scholarship has shown the truth is the exact opposite, particularly with government’s sleazy relationship with money and banking.

Top Study: Carbon Emissions CANNOT Cause ‘Global Warming’

Guest Post by Frank Bergman

A bombshell new peer-reviewed study has provided conclusive scientific evidence proving that carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in Earth’s atmosphere cannot cause “global warming.”

Dr. Jan Kubicki led a group of world-renowned Polish scientists to study the impact of increases in CO2 emissions on the Earth’s global temperatures.

However, not only did they find that higher levels of CO2 made no difference, but they also proved that it simply isn’t possible for increases in carbon dioxide to cause temperatures to rise.

Kubicki and his team recently published three papers which all conclude that Earth’s atmosphere is already “saturated” with carbon dioxide.

Ignorance, Its Uses and Nurture

Guest Post by Fred Reed

Democracy may not be the silliest idea concocted by man but, for anything larger than a small town, it is crackpot. It consists in the idea that a public, on average knowing almost nothing, can choose leaders in popularity contests among provincial lawyers  who know little more and are required to know nothing, except how  to get elected.

In a democracy, this  ignorance is both a protected quality, like motherhood and a valued resource. By common consent, the ruled do not look too closely at the mentality of elected rulers, and the rulers speak solemnly of the wisdom of the people, who hve none. Reporters will ask, “Senator, what are your views on Afghanistan?” but never, “Senator, where is Afghanistan?” or “Can you spell Afghanistan?”

Low Voter Turnout Expected for 2024 US Presidential Election

Guest Post by Martin Armstrong

The public has political fatigue. The 24/7 media cycle has been promoting political divide for years. The last election saw an outcome that was in contrast to the will of the people. No one on either side actually believes Joe Biden secured 81 million votes to become the most popular candidate in US history. Half of the nation deeply hates Donald Trump, and they have grown tired of seeing him appear on every broadcast whether it is in his favor or negatively. A new poll shows that interest in the upcoming presidential election has hit a 20-year low.

Democrats Praying for a Trump Assassination?

Guest Post by Martin Armstrong

I grew up in a Democratic house. My father took me to see John F. Kennedy in 1960 in Willingboro, New Jersey. He shook my hand, but unlike Bill Clinton, that did not inspire me to run for president. I was raised with the belief in being fair and against corruption. There is no way my father would be a Democrat today. The Democratic Party no longer represents what it once did.

Through my years, all I have witnessed is how handing ANY power to those in government becomes like a drug addiction, and they will stoop to absolutely anything to retain that power. This is our current crisis. The Democratic motto should be: We have defeated the enemy. We occupy the Hill. We have become the enemy. Walt Kelly, an American cartoonist (1913-1973), said: “We have met the enemy, and he is us!”

25 Ways the US is Being Destroyed Explained in Under 2 Minutes

I would add several more. For example, the independence of doctors requires private practice. Private practice is being destroyed systematically by medical insurance, malpractice insurance, Medicare, Big Pharma, and the US Congress which panders to Big Pharma for campaign contributions. Medical doctors are being forced into becoming employees for HMOs where they have to follow their employer’s protocols or be fired.

Are you subject to a Non-Compete? NEWSFLASH

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ftc-noncompete-agreement-ban/

Federal regulators on Tuesday enacted a nationwide ban on new noncompete agreements, which keep millions of Americans — from minimum-wage earners to CEOs — from switching jobs within their industries.

The Federal Trade Commission on Tuesday afternoon voted 3-to-2 to approve the new rule, which will ban noncompetes for all workers when the regulations take effect in 120 days. For senior executives, existing noncompetes can remain in force. For all other employees, existing noncompetes are not enforceable.

All Our Stars Out: On Finding Cheng

Guest Post by Margaret Anna Alice

“Give me a story that just makes me unreasonably vigilant. Keep me up till five only because all your stars are out, and for no other reason.”

* * *

“Do you know what you will be asked when you die? … I’m so sure you’ll get asked only two questions. Were most of your stars out? Were you busy writing your heart out? If only you knew how easy it would be for you to say yes to both questions. If only you’d remember before ever you sit down to write that you’ve been a reader long before you were ever a writer. You simply fix that fact in your mind, then sit very still and ask yourself, as a reader, what piece of writing in all the world Buddy Glass would most want to read if he had his heart’s choice. The next step is terrible, but so simple I can hardly believe it as I write it. You just sit down shamelessly and write the thing yourself. I won’t even underline that. It’s too important to be underlined.”

—Seymour, J.D. Salinger’s Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters and Seymour, an Introduction (Kindle, hardcover, paperback, mass market paperback)

J.D. Salinger was my favorite author while I was in high school. I read everything ever published by him, including short stories only available in periodicals I tracked down and photocopied at the library.

These 2 Persistent Trends Undermine Your Financial Stability

From Peter Reagan for Birch Gold Group

There’s no doubt, if your retirement savings aren’t built on a stable foundation, your retirement income could erode even during “normal times.”

In a recent article on retirement planning, Joe F. Schmitz took to Kiplinger to suggest a retirement strategy to address this concern. Schmitz advises:

When building a retirement plan, consider implementing a five-pillar approach that includes taxes, investments, income, health care and estate planning.

These read a lot like common sense pieces of advice that every person should consider to increase the chances their golden years are financially secure. It’s worth a read!

Here’s the problem: There are two persistent forces that corrode those pillars, constantly threatening to undermine your stable foundation.

Let’s take a look…

Trump Not Sending His Best

Guest Post by Ann Coulter

Picture your ideal Republican candidate. Would they look something like this?

1. An “anchor baby” (technically, “illegal immigrant”);

2. Parents were illegal aliens from Syria, who avoided being deported only because of their “American citizen” anchor baby, i.e. “the candidate”;

3. Father indicted for firebombing a synagogue (charges dropped when co-conspirators refused to testify against him);

4. Supported Sen. Marco Rubio’s amnesty;

5. Was thrilled that President George W. Bush gave a speech at a mosque on 9/11;

6. Constantly demands that Americans become entangled in foreign conflicts having nothing to do with our country;

7. Has been driven to a cursing rage at me for mentioning that immigrants commit a lot of crime.

After Four Years and Thirty Million Deaths

Submitted by Paul S.

Guest Post by Ron Unz

The global Covid epidemic began more than four years ago, and although its visibility has largely faded over the last couple of years, displaced in the headlines by Russia’s Ukraine war and the more recent Israel-Gaza conflict, its lingering impact has been enormous.

Since 2020 The Economist has maintained the most authoritative account of the human toll and by its reckoning, the total number of “excess deaths” worldwide has nearly reached thirty million, while many billions more had their lives greatly disrupted by the lockdowns and economic dislocations. Our own country certainly suffered from these same factors, with well over a million American deaths, and the massive government spending used to avert an economic collapse raised our debt by more than $10 trillion, an increase of roughly 50% over just the last few years.
