At one time Paul Farrell’s articles made sense. In the last year I think dementia has set in or someone at the Wall Street Journal told him what he was supposed to say from now on. He has been urging people to buy stocks at the all time high. Then he blathers about Wall Street being crooked.
He blames capitalism for all the woes in the world, when we don’t have anything resembling capitalism in the world. He is a global warming disciple on par with the grand poobah – Al Gore. Flash forward to 2005 and the Steven Spielberg–Tom Cruise version ? No, flash a little further. New technologies making Marshall McLuhan’s “medium is the message” dominate: new media, Twitter news, Google Glass, Big Data, Raymond Kurzweil’s “ Singularity .” Hot news. Staccato. Immediate. Now.
But how can we tell what’s fiction and fact? What is reality in this Big Money world?
In today’s bizarre reality of artificial intelligence and drones, there are only six really true facts you need to know about this new “War of the Worlds,” the final war between the old conspiracies of Big Money and Big Oil and Big Government and the Big TV Networks vs. an emerging but ragtag conspiracy of eco-activists and climate-change scientists and global-warming billionaires. This is all you need to know about your future and the fate of our world:
Fact 1: Wall Street’s fictional record highs
Like the Orson Welles hoax, the stock-market benchmark’s all-time highs are a fantasy. But, for now, they control the medium. Yes, the majority, the global “collective unconscious” actually believes that what it’s hearing in the media is factual. And most believe it when they hear from the news anchors that 2013 was the best year since the dot-com rally of the late 1990s.

But imagine a “War of the Worlds”–style cut-in: “We interrupt this program …” An alien invasion of Planet Earth, it says. Mushroom clouds. Panic ensues. And global retweeting. Once upon a time, in 1938 , we believed the cut-in. And maybe we still would. Except that today’s “alien invasion” is capitalism, attacking, dominating, depleting world resources.
So imagine that cut-in, today, with the message that Wall Street is winning. Big Money is winning again. And you, Main Street investor, are the loser.
On an inflation-adjusted basis, in today’s bizarrely zero-sum economy, Wall Street actually lost trillions in retirement funds for Main Street America’s 95 million investors, while inflating the inequality gaps. Yes, from 2000 to 2013, Wall Street was actually underwater.
Still, most of us believe what the Big Money–Wall Street conspiracy broadcasts. It owns the medium and, thus, the message.
Fact 2: Global warming is as deadly as 400,000 A-bombs — every day
Next, imagine alerts rapidly streaming across your monitor. Big headline flashing: “Earth’s rate of global warming is 400,000 Hiroshima bombs a day.” Suddenly, fade to black. An eerie silence. You wonder: Is this our new reality? We’re in the dark.
Facts really are stranger than fiction. No matter what new broadcast technologies deliver our news — TV, LinkedIn, Hulu, Google Glass, “Star Trek” mind melding, Kurzweil’s “Singularity”— the fact is this: Global warming is running at a rate of 400,000 A-bombs hitting Planet Earth daily, dangerously overheating our world, day after day after day.
Big Oil is fighting to keep that info off Big TV News. But the fact remains that the 400,000-daily-A-bombs headline is real. It was first posted on ThinkProgress.com and voiced by one of the world’s leading climate scientists, James Hansen, the head of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies from 1981 to 2013, in a 2012 TED Talk . But since Big Money rules today’s reality, even if the conspiracy loses a round, its perpetrators will invest heavily a comeback. They can’t afford to lose the “War of the Worlds.”
Fact 3: Just 90 companies trigger 63% of all global-warming pollution
This, from the Guardian , is a show stopper: “Just 90 companies caused two-thirds of man-made global warming emissions: Chevron, Exxon and BP among companies most responsible for climate change since dawn of industrial age.” The opener hits harder: “We know who’s profiting from emissions—let’s bill them. Shell, BP, ExxonMobil and Chevron are some of the 90 entities discovered in a recently published research that contribute to most of the world’s emissions.”
Get it? Big Oil really is Big Polluter. “There are thousands of oil, gas and coal producers in the world,” observed Richard Heede of the Climate Accountability Institute, who looked at methane and CO2 emissions from 1854 to 2010. “But the decision makers, the CEOs, or the ministers of coal and oil, if you narrow it down to just one person, they could all fit on a Greyhound bus or two.” In effect, “Heede’s work debunks the myth that everyone (and therefore no one) is responsible for climate change.” In truth, Big Oil is Planet Earth’s biggest enemy.
Fact 4: ‘Big TV News’ conspires with Big Oil climate-science deniers
Wonder why you rarely hear about climate change on television news? Here’s why: Network television is a major climate-science denier in cahoots with Big Oil and all other climate-science deniers. Yes, to survive, “Big TV News” relies upon hundreds of millions of dollars a year in television ads from Big Oil.
The facts: About a month ago, Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting, the leading media watchdog group exposing bias in the news, released a new survey of national newscasts on CBS, NBC and ABC: “Extreme weather is big news. In the first nine months of 2013, there were 450 segments of 200 words or more that covered extreme weather: flooding, forest fires, tornadoes, blizzards, hurricanes and heat waves.”
But, unfortunately, the television networks are now de facto climate-science deniers, aiding Big Oil. How? TV news consistently fails to analyze “the human-made climate change that is affecting … extreme weather.” Of those 450 segments, “just a tiny fraction, 16 segments, or 4% of the total … mentioned the words ‘climate change,’ ‘global warming’ or ‘greenhouse gases’ [while] 96% of extreme-weather stories never discussed the human impact on the climate.” Yes, Big Oil ad spending is influencing Big TV News.
Fact 5: 2013 was worst year in human history for climate change
If you owned stocks or are an ideological climate-science denier, you loved 2013. And you’ll ignore ThinkProgress’s “nine major reasons climate change, and the carbon pollution that drives it, helped make 2013 one of the worst years in human history”:
- Global CO2 levels hit 400 parts per million in 2013 for the first time in recorded history
- It’s getting hotter, faster
- A huge number of animals and plants face extinction
- The world suffered deadly heat, drought and wildfires
- Choking pollution shut down population centers
- Countries suffer disasters but still commit to doing even less about emissions
- Sea levels broke records in 2013, amplifying the effects of storms and floods
- Much of the world is doubling down on fossil fuels
- We are woefully undercounting methane emissions
But few in Big TV News will broadcast this message about how humans cause climate change. We prefer to hear “Wall Street’s best year since 1997!” Better yet, tell us that “2014 will be better” and give us predictions of more big returns. And, yes, that’s what our brains, and the world’s collective unconscious, will hear because the conspiracy has Big Money on its side to control the media and message. Till it’s too late.
Fact 6: Both worlds are losing this new ‘War of the Worlds’
This “War of the Worlds” redux pits capitalism against Planet Earth. But, unfortunately, in today’s “War of the Worlds,” the old conspiracy of Big Money–Big Oil–Big Government–Big TV Networks is beating the ragtag eco-activists fighting against global warming and climate change.
How? Every single day Big Oil and other climate-change deniers are spending megabucks to control your mind, to manipulate what Carl Jung called the collective unconscious. Remember, just 90 organizations with a war chest of trillions are spending billions every day to get you to ignore that rate of 400,000 A-bombs a day — and not only that. They want to control your mind, the collective unconscious. The real “War of the Worlds” is for the control of your mind. And everyone else’s.

At the height of the cold, wind chills may reach 50, 60 or even 70 below zero (45.5, 51 or even 56.7 below zero C).
“It’s just a dangerous cold [front],” National Weather Service meteorologist Butch Dye in Missouri said Sunday morning.

Chicago Extreme Cold: Temperatures in ‘Chiberia’ Colder Than South Pole
CHICAGO — The wind chill hit 40 degrees below zero Monday morning at O’Hare Airport, and the extreme cold is expected to stick around for the next couple of days, meteorologists said.
At midnight, the temperature at O’Hare was 3 degrees below zero, which is as warm as the city is likely to see for the day, National Weather Service meteorologist Matt Friedlein said.
A temperature of 16 degrees below zero was measured at O’Hare Airport later in the morning, breaking the record of 14 below zero set twice in 1884 and 1988 on Jan. 6, according to the National Weather Service.
That’s colder than the South Pole in Antarctica, where the temperature was recorded at 11 degrees below zero at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station before 8 a.m. It was also colder than Novosibirsk, a city in southwest Siberia, which was 6 degrees below zero, according to the Weather Channel.
To be fair, it’s “summer” time in Antarctica.
Woke this morning to -16 degrees with a wind chill of -46. Dog didn’t seem to mind too much on the morning walk (Giant Schnauzers actually love this stuff). Even the condo is only about 50 degrees, what with taking a direct hit from the winds coming off Lake Michigan.
Had to help push out several cars for people who had to work today. But this too shall pass.
I agree on Farrell, before I found this site and others like it I used to read his horseshit and eat it up thinking that this guy knew what was really going on.
Then I found the truth and RE educated myself and now I clearly see how absurd his arguments are.
On a side note and I know that this is WAY beyond crazy but there is a site called http://www.zetatalk.com where this lady Nancy Lieder has been documenting a pole shift that has been slowly occuring since 2003.
Now again I know this is crazy and her whole argument is that the “greys” (aliens) have been communicating with her and explaining to her that Planet X aka Niburu has entered our solar system and is causing a pole shift as it does every 3600 years or so.
Again, I don’t believe here, because if it is true well then it’s game over, but it is kind of fascinating to read through her documentation of earthquakes, flooding, volcanic eruptions and changes in weather patterns (like this artic freeze and the snow in Israel last month) and see how she ties it to this planetary dance.
I’m not trying to validate her claims I just wanted to know if anyone else has heard these types of theories and if you put any credence to it. As far fetched as it sounds their is a lot of evidence to back up her claims, however, I suppose she could just be capitalizing on normal occurences trying to make a buck. How she makes money doing this is the part that really fascinates me.

So About That GloBull Warming…

ALAMEDA – The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Polar Star is responding to a Jan. 3rd request from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) to assist the Russian-Flagged Akademik Shokalskiy and Chinese-Flagged Xue Long that are reportedly ice-bound in the Antarctic. The Russian and Chinese Governments have also requested assistance from the United States.
This is our only heavy icebreaker, capable of cutting through six feet of ice at 3kts continuous and ~20′ of ice by backing up and ramming it. It has a specially-reinforced hull and bow and was recently refit.
The ship’s primary mission is clearing a path to McMurdo, the scientific installation at the South Pole, and one that the United States (along with other nations) have run for a long time.
So the diversion is only partial, in that the ship was already headed in that general direction.
But let’s talk about how this happened.
First, the expedition was one full of GloBull Warming liartists, er, scientists. They were convinced that there was no ice, and remember, this is the summer in the southern hemisphere. So much as the first hint of diligence would have disclosed that in fact there was a ****-ton of ice, not zero, well above their “expectations”, and they were proceeding into known hazardous conditions in that regard. They wound up in conditions much colder and icier than they expected to find, which was their first hint that something might be wrong — because of their own hubris and refusal to do diligence up front.
Second, there are published reports that the ship’s master knew there was a potential problem with ice closing in around them and intended to leave. He was prevented from doing so because the so-called scientists were out screwing around on snowmobiles on the ice pack and either broke or lost their sled. This delayed their departure and — big surprise — they got trapped.
These people are called “passengers” as if they were sightseeing and the vessel master was making all the calls involved. Uh, no. They were doing no such thing. They were out there taking so-called scientific measurements to advance a blown theory that hasn’t panned out for them, while at the same time screwing around in a hazardous part of the world and delaying the ship’s departure.
Now I’m all for SOLAS, the USCG’s primary mission. But what I’m not interested in is being billed as a US taxpayer because a bunch of *******s pursued a blown theory, proceeded intentionally into a known hazard and then screwed around in dangerous conditions and by doing so prevented the ship’s master from leaving on schedule when he recognized — correctly so — that he was at risk of becoming icebound.
So go ahead and break ’em out with the Polar Star, because that’s what we do.
But once you do that send those *******s the bill for the fuel, the demurrage on the vessel and the salaries of the Coasties during the period they were diverted as a direct and proximate cause of the hubris exhibited by those jackasses, exactly as they will bill you for rescue if, in the wilderness, your need for rescue comes about as a result of your own gross negligence.

Polar vortex pushes gas demand to record high
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — The frigid weather sweeping through the U.S. midsection and the Northeast have pushed demand for natural gas to a record 125.7 billion cubic feet a day on Monday, said Bentek, the oil and natural gas analytics unit of Platts. That’s 3.4 bcf a day higher than the previous record, set in January 2009. Bentek expects demand to crest 130 bcf a day on Tuesday. Some spot natural-gas prices in the Northeast soared to nearly $60 per million British thermal units in Monday trading, according to Platts.
At its core, the biggest flaw with global warming is that our data stretches back to mid-90s (day to day) and back 100 years (monthly trends).
Thats nothing. We started recording during the industrial revolution, and it continued to be spotty until we had full satellite coverage.

“Excessively high temperatures” are “already” harming public health nationwide, Pres. Obama declared on Nov. 1, 2013, two months before today’s assault by record low temperatures.
In his executive order on climate change, Obama warned that too much rain – and not enough rain – also dictated that executive action against climate fluctuations:

Global warming, climate change, whatever you want to call it… the Earth is a dynamic system. It hasn’t been a stable place since critters first crawled out of the crud during the Paleozoic Era… that’s pretty much why almost everything that has lived before us is DEAD. Extinct. Whether it be volcanoes exploding, the sun cooling, a major glaciation or an asteroid slamming into the Earth, a couple things are sure – the Earth is one dangerous place and the other is that your survival is NOT assured.

The ONLY full permafrost zone in the U.S. is the extreme northern part of Alaska, where the town of Barrow just about contains everyone who lives there …. population 4,300, mas o menos. But there is global warming in Barrow. Today’s high was -5 degrees, higher than ….. well, just about anyplace in the upper Midwest. Heh.
