I am amazed, absolutely amazed, at the fact that EU politicians, and the MSM which serves them, are still seriously discussing the adoption of even more sanctions against Russia when it is absolutely, totally and undeniably obvious that:
a) there is no proof of a Russian intervention, never mind invasion, of the Ukraine.
b) that there is exactly zero chance that EU sanction will even marginally impact the Kremlin’s decision making.
c) that the EU simply cannot afford the inevitable counter-sanctions which Russia will retaliate with.
It is generally accepted that “politics is the art of the possible” and yet the EU leaders are clearly engaged in the art of the absolutely impossible. The fact that they are all pretending like this is going to have some useful impact is truly a sign of how much the EU leadership has degenerated over the years. Can you imagine Helmut Schmidt, Charles de Gaulle, Margaret Thatcher, François Mitterrand or Francisco Franco engaging in that kind of infantile nonsense? All these leaders had their bad aspects, but at least none of them were clowns, whereas when I look at the current EU leadership, especially Van Rumpey, Adners Fogh Rasmussen or José Manuel Barroso I get the feeling that I am looking at some ugly kindergarten of intellectually challenged clowns and, frankly, I can understand Mrs Nuland’s feelings.
Truly the EU has degenerated to a point of no return. Hollande can play Mitterrand, but he is no better at that than Quayle was at playing Kennedy. Why in the world the folks in east-central Europe would want to join such a terminally pathetic community is truly beyond me.
I often wonder – has everybody just gone blind?
Why doesn’t everybody see that which is so obvious?
Don’t they realize that the men in the Kremlin are real, tough and principled men who will only feel disgust and amusement when challenged by such non-entities whom the Mayor of London so aptly referred to as the “great supine protoplasmic invertebrate jellies“.
There is a saying in Russian: “to try to scare a hedgehog with a naked butt“. This is what the EU is doing now. They are trying to scare Russia with sanctions which will painfully end up hurting the EU.
There is another saying in Russian:”to love the courageous/brave man in the Tatar“. It means that you can love/admire courage/bravery even in your mortal enemy. To the Russian people the *culture of empty threats* coming out of the EU is simply not worthy of respect. And the fact that the one cause the Europeans love to get most vocal and indignant about is the one “gay” “rights” most certainly does not help.
In the past, the western enemies of Russia – the Papacy, the Masons, the Empires and even the Nazis – all were formidable in their own way. Maybe the Russians did not fear them, but they often sincerely admired them (the French) or, at least, admired their courage (the Germans). These were worthy enemies.
But now Russia looks at the EU with a total sense of disgust and I would even argue that the Russians have far more respect for the USA than for the EU. For example, Russian commentators often make the point that the western sanctions against Russian only hurt Europe, not the USA. And while they like to make fun of individual US politicians, they also admit that the US has superbly manipulated the EU and the Ukrainian elites. And NATO can now threaten to create a rapid deployment force of 10’000 men, but you can be sure that the priority of the GRU will be to keep an eye on US forces, not on the EU clowns in combat fatigues.
I have left Europe 12 years ago so I really don’t know, but I often wonder: do the Europeans realize how utterly pathetic their leaders are? Do they see that they are lead by non-entities, “office plankton in suits”, pathetic intellectually challenged clowns?
On another note, I often speak of the Ukie “freaks”. But there is one guy which I personally find very likable on a personal, human level. I might shock you, but regardless of his crazy ideas, as a person Dmitri Iarosh seems to be a very nice guy. I have recently watched an hour long interview of him (here, but it is in Ukrainian) and I could not help finding him very likable. He has a very charming and a little bit shy smile and he is not pretentious at all. He does not even seem to be hateful in the way that, say, Tymoshenko or Poroshenko are. I certainly would welcome the opportunity to talk to him, even if after our conversation I end up slitting his throat. But when I see Van Rumpey or Rasmussen I think of yet another Russian expression: “this face begs for a brick“. To them I have nothing to say at all.
Anyway, I just felt like sharing these most subjective musings with you.
Good night and have a wonderful Sunday!

The Donetsk National Republic States The Facts
“Every time you come to Russia with a sword, from a sword you will perish.”
The former Russian provinces, which Soviet party leaders carelessly attached to Ukraine at a time when it seemed to make no difference as all were part of the Soviet Union, are now independent republics with their own governments. The West pretends that this isn’t so, because Washington and its puppet capitals don’t recognize the independence of formerly captive peoples. But the West’s opinion no longer counts.
In the last couple of days the newly formed military units of the Donetsk National Republic have defeated and surrounded large portions of the remaining Ukrainian military. Russian President Putin asked the Donetsk Republic to allow the defeated Ukrainians to return home to their wives and mothers. The Donetsk Republic agreed to Putin’s mercy request as long as the Ukrainians left their weapons behind. The Donetsk Republic is short on weapons as, contrary to Western lies, the Donetsk Republic is not supplied with weapons by Russia.
Washington’s puppet government in Kiev declined the mercy extended to its troops and said they had to fight to the death. Shades of Hitler at Stalingrad. Western Ukraine has remained the repository of Nazism since 1945, and it is Western Ukraine with which Washington is allied against freedom and democracy.
Thanks to The Saker we are provided with a press conference with English subtitles that Alexander Zakharchenko, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Donetsk National Republic, held with media. Present are Russian and Western press.
You will be impressed with the ease with which Zakharchenko handles the ignorant and corrupt Western media representatives, and your sides will burst with laughter at his reply to the media question: “Are there regular Russian military units fighting on your side?”
The British and American journalists were the most stupid, as we already knew. You will die laughing at the response to the question, “why did you parade the prisoners.”
This person Zakharchenko puts to shame every politician in the US, Europe, Canada, Australia, Japan, all of the puppet politicians of the American Empire. If only the United States had people of the character and quality of Zakharchenko.
Now that Zakharchenko has revealed himself and made mincemeat of the stupid Western media, he will be demonized and misrepresented. So use this opportunity to see for yourself who has integrity and character. Hint: no one in political and media circles in the West.

You might have to put the video on full screen to read the subtitles.

Putin Calls For “Immediate Talks” Over Eastern Ukraine “Statehood”
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/31/2014 13:54 -0400
Vladimir Putin, who has repeatedly said that he does not favor the break-up of Ukraine – but only greater autonomy for the East, appears to have changed course rather dramatically today. In a speech broadcast on Russian TV, the Russian leader stated “we need to immediately begin substantive talks… on questions of the political organisation of society and statehood for southeastern Ukraine.” As The Washington Post reports, use of the word “statehood” reflects a major shift in Kremlin policy towards ‘Novorossiya’ – it would be a direct challenge not only to Kiev but also to Western European nations and the United States, which have been trying to force Moscow to back down. While not directly addressing the latest round of sanctions chatter, Putin concluded, perhaps ominously, “they should have known that Russia cannot stand aside when people are being shot almost at point-blank.”
As AFP reports,
President Vladimir Putin today dramatically raised the stakes in the Ukraine conflict by calling for the first time for statehood to be considered for the restive east of the former Soviet state.
“We need to immediately begin substantive talks… on questions of the political organisation of society and statehood for southeastern Ukraine with the goal of protecting the lawful interests of the people who live there,” Putin was quoted as saying by Russian news agencies on a TV show broadcast in the far east of the country.
Russia has previously only called for greater rights under a decentralised federal system to be accorded to the eastern regions of Ukraine, where predominantly Russian-speakers live.
And as The Washington Post reports,
Putin spoke of the need to end hostilities before winter and criticized European leaders for supporting Ukraine, in remarks made during a television interview first broadcast in Russia’s Far East and reported from Vladivostok by Russian news agencies. The interview was to be broadcast in Moscow seven hours later.
Putin has said repeatedly that he does not favor the breakup of Ukraine — though Russia seized Crimea from Ukraine in March — but only greater autonomy for the east. The word “statehood” suggests more than that, and if it reflects a major shift in Kremlin policy, it would be a direct challenge not only to Kev but also to Western European nations and the United States, which have been trying to force Moscow to back down.
…
“These are the inclusive talks that should determine the relationship with the eastern regions, that is, negotiations inside Ukraine on the internal Ukrainian order with respect for the interests of the country’s eastern regions, the interests of Novorossiya,” Peskov told reporters, according to Russian state-owned news agency Itar-Tass.

Doesn’t sound very de-esacalation-y to us… but we are sure stocks will rally on the hopes of front-running the post-escalation de-escalation buying panic.
Re the Ukraine… today PressTV reported, “NATO is reportedly planning to send an expeditionary force composed of 10,000 troops from seven different member states to Ukraine amid rising tensions with Russia over the conflict in Eastern European country.”
I think that your country and mine, can’t let Eastern Ukraine become independent and Russian oriented. The United States, for financial reasons, needs to undermine Russian, Chinese and other threats to our dollar and military supremacy. We need to corral Russia before concentrating on China.
In the months ahead, I see NATO supplementing, then taking control of the Ukrainian military. I see the US and EU contries pressing Russia in every respect. My feeling is that the US will stop at nothing to achieve it’s objectives and that NATO’s greater population, wealth, and military will be too much for the Russians.
Splendid article by Saker! Perfectly expresses the situation! Our Zionist-dominated government will never manage involve us in a war with Russia. The American people – as foolish and empty-headed as they are – will finally recognize the suicidal impulse behind it and demand that thee traitors ruling us back down.
“NATO is reportedly PLANNING to send an expeditionary force composed of 10,000 troops from seven different member states to Ukraine …” ———– Jackson
Key word there is …..”planning”.
I can’t imagine that Putin will allow 10k foreign troops in his own backyard. You’re talking a possibility of WWIII …. but that might be exactly what the USA! USA! USA! wants and needs.
NATO having more people, money, etc. than Russia is completely irrelevant. Compare Afghanistan stats to the USA. How did that work out? Russians will literally fight to the last man. Americans pussy out relatively quickly once dead bodies come home. Go ahead and underestimate the Russians at your own peril. Just ask the Germans.
@Southern Sage
Please enlighten me. Which of Barack Obama’s Muslim, Sharia advisors/appointees in high security positions is a Zionist?
Could Arif Alikhan, Kareem Shora, Mohammed Elibiary, Rashad Hussain, Salam al-Marayati, or Imam Mohamed Magid be cryptic Zionists? How about CIA Director John Brennan or Huma Abedin?
