well, if it makes you guys feel any better, after we pay for him to fail out of school, we get to pay for his illigetimate children to be fed and clothed and a roof over their heads, since he won’t be providing for them. We will also get to pay for his incarceration when he winds up in prison in the next 5 years. As for that teacher, well, she clearly put up with WAYYY too much to even allow it to get to that point, there is nothing she can do now, they clearly have no respect for her. I try to figure out what I would do in that situation. I’ve never taught high school, but I have substituted in many an inner city secondary classroom. Thankfully, I have never encountered that kind of behavior.
The teacher has no “presence,” if you know what I mean. Would any of you pay attention to that poor creature? She could not even summon an authoritative tone of voice. It is generally poor practice to sit behind a desk during class, unless they are taking a test or something, and sitting down put her in both a figurative and literal subservient position. Also, if she had been up and circulating, she could have exited to get help.
I’d like to know the backstory to this episode. I take comfort in the vast intelligence of the star of the show who made sure the whole incident was taped.

Lots of background giggling and smiles from the girls in the video, which indicates affirmation of what the guy is doing and likely egged him on. The guy even says to the camera person, “Cut the camera,” which didn’t happen, and he could have stopped the recording by simply knocking the camera out of his/her hands. So the perpetrator and camera person were AT LEAST well acquainted and perhaps friends.
As for posting the video, you cannot pinpoint a motive without further evidence. As for pointing an accusatory finger at the teacher and her teaching methods – a short, very slight woman who appears to be in her 50s and a very gentle human being – well, that’s just wrong, Gayle. Look at the video again and tell me what you see in her eyes. I see FEAR.

I watched a minute of the tape. That was enough. Yes, I felt bad for the teacher. But I felt much more rage towards the wild baboon, her tormentor. I didn’t mean to diminish the role of the demonic student in this incident. There is not a single excuse for his evil and dangerous behavior. He is the perfect poster boy for the efforts of the past 50 years of the Great Society.
I just can’t grasp what that particular teacher was doing in a classroom with this animal. Maybe she was a substitute teacher or was filling in in some other way. She is old enough to have had experience, so her administrators must have at least a vague idea of her capabilities in terms of classroom management. You can be sure that the administrators also know that student, who should have been removed from a traditional classroom long ago. The rest of the students were at risk from the antics in the room, and the district was in a vulnerable position legally. Totally a FUBAR situation.

No, she looks like somebody who burned out a long time ago and all she is doing now is waiting to retire. She’s not terrified, she looks like she doesn’t have the energy to send this kid to the office.
One idea is this is a special ed class and the kids are incapable of real learning, the girls laughing sound like retards. I mean I went to school with smart kids (really) and girls back then were vicious, you came in trying to cut up like a newbie on TBP and they shot darts at you. These giggling gooses would never make it in a real classroom.
Another idea is that she has a smallish class, it might be that she is doing a ‘study hall’. My buddy said study hall is now run like a prison, nobody can do nothing, no reading, no talking, no nothing but sit silently for the entire time kids are there, is think he also said they didn’t turn the lights on, so they sit in dim rooms. This is the reason why, kids who think getting sent to study hall is a relief from class, little shits never got enough playtime in elementary school.

Good point about needing to be standing and not sitting behind the desk. She eliminated any escape routes by cornering herself in the room behind the desk. As soon as the boy picked up the desk, she should have left the room and gotten Officer Body Slam to come remove him.
She’s appears broken and fearful. The quiet tone of her voice was likely a defense mechanism so as not to startle or aggravate the uncontrollable boy further (not that she likely did anything to set him off in the first place). She appears to be taking the approach “pretend he’s not here and he’ll go away” but that obviously only encouraged the hooligan more. Your approach for using a commanding voice and “presence” to control a classroom is appropriate in any normal classroom setting. This was far, far from a normal classroom setting. This was chaos in action. And since this is likely what constitutes what “normal” is in the inner city, we as taxpayers ought to de-fund the schools and start over.
