NJ Mother Pleads Guilty to Setting Her Baby on Fire and Leaving it in the Street

I think she was retaliating against her mother for naming her Hyphernkemberly. What kind of animal could do this to a newborn baby?

Dorvilier pleaded guilty Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, in Mount Holly, N.J., to aggravated manslaughter. She had previously pleaded not guilty to a murder charge. Authorities say the 23-year-old Pemberton Township resident doused her newborn with accelerant and set her on fire in January 2015. The baby had third-degree burns over 60 percent of her body. A New Jersey woman has pleaded guilty to setting her newborn baby on fire and abandoning it in a roadway, court documents reveal.

According to the Associated Press, a woman with the unusual name of Hyphernkemberly Dorvilier, was convicted of aggravated manslaughter after previously pleading not guilty to a murder charge.

Police alleged that Dorvilier, a 23-year-old from Pemberton Township, doused the child with WD-40 oil and set it aflame in January of 2015. The child later died from the third degree burns it suffered.

Prosecutors say that the woman had hidden her pregnancy from family members and decided to kill the child immediately after birth to continue the ruse. The body of the burned child was found with its umbilical cord and placenta still attached.

A 911 call from the incident was played in court. Dorvilier can be heard in the background saying, “It’s not mine, it’s not mine… I didn’t do it, I didn’t do it, I didn’t do it.”

Throughout much of her arrest, and initially during her trial, she maintained her claim that the baby was not hers.

Prosecutors have recommended that Dorvilier be sentenced 30 years in prison at her upcoming sentencing phase.

She??? obviously gave the baby a quick and humane death. The only way to deal with 1/2 humans is to provide them with the same form of death that they have caused to innocents.

Set the bitch on fire – it is the right action to take.

I’ve always believed murders should be put to death in the same manner they put their victims to death,

This sanitized. painless drug induced death we practice now is not justice, it is a peaceful end to an otherwise vicious and merciless life.

RIP poor baby. What is also sickening is that somewhere out there in the People’s Republic of NJ there’s a guy who actually dipped his wick in that thing.

I can only assume she is mentally ill, possibly demon-possessed. 30 years in an institution is a good start. After that time she will be beyond childbearing years and any possible future offspring will be safe.

I hate feminists with their abortion at will and Hyphern-ated names. Do you think her mother heard someone discussing a hyphenated name and went with it?

She isn’t mentally ill, gayle, she’s haitian. But they would never tell you that. Reading up on her, just another homie American from new jersey. Wrong. The French surname is the giveaway. Where I live we have tons of haitians. Obama brings them in under some sort of program linked to the earthquake. I never see any mention of them committing crime, but I have noticed a huge wave of Frenchman committing horrible crimes on the local news. They never show us pictures of the criminals. But we all know what a Frenchman looks like right?

In case you get any sort of feelings of white guiltiness about Jim posting these sorts of articles. We, the taxpayers did buy ms. Dorvilier a nice new landrover shortly before she killed her baby.

What kind of animal? Someone with mental illness, a drug problem, a very low IQ, or a psychopath.

Despite having been involved in the CJS for decades, I haven’t heard of what kokoda and Anonymous recommend: executing a murderer in the same manner (s)he killed the victim.
I am in favor of capital punishment as it’s been proven to be a deterrent to homicide. After thinking about it for a while, I think the kokoda plan would also reduce homicides.
As for what to do with 23 year old Ms. Dorvilier, who pled guilty to aggravated manslaughter, a non-capital crime… realistically it’s a conundrum. Protecting society, providing some retribution, and rehabilitating the defendant are all time tested goals of the system. What works in a case like this, as experience has shown, is jail time, supervision, and a lot of community service. It’s cheaper for the taxpayer than decades of incarceration, the public is protected, and that type of sentence offers the best chance to make something positive out of what now is a wpos.
Unfortunately, in my experience with the CJS, emotion, politics, and posturing too often displace what works. Instead the Judge Judys, no nonsense judges, and hanging judges ruin lives and threaten the public peace just for a newspaper headline, recognition, and because they’re too mentally rusted to be able to consider what’ best for all of us.

A QUESTION for overthecliff, KaD, Greg in NC, Persnickety, Gayle. Administrator, Stucky, Anonymous, and kokoda.
Read Somerset Maugham’s short story, “The Unconquered.” if you’re interested and have time.
If not, here’s a summary:
In occupied France during the Second World War, Hans, a German soldier, rapes Annette, a farm girl. Later, Hans visits whenever he can and, brings much-needed food. On one visit Annette tells him she is pregnant. Hans, realizing he loves Annette, has plans to marry her and take over the farm. The farmer and his wife, who have no son to inherit the farm, consent to the idea. But Annette says, “I hate him. I hate his vanity and arrogance…. I think I should die happy if I could find a way to wound him as he’s wounded me.” The farmer says, “We’ve been defeated and we must accept the consequences. We’ve got to make the best arrangement we can.” Soon after the birth, Hans arrives at the farm. He cries, “Oh, my God, I’m so happy…. I want to see Annette.” But Annette is not there; she has drowned the baby in a nearby brook.
The QUESTION: What do you think of Annette and what should be her punishment? Drowning?
