Humanity is Messy

Guest Post by Todd Hayen

One thing that really annoys me is this idealistic quest for a perfect society. Whether this quest comes from the ultra-religious or from the maniacs heading up the New World Order or even from average everyday folks who think that humans can all be herded into some ideal group of nice neighbourly Mr. Rogers types.

Even if that could be done it would be a bore. And any really serious effort to do so will quickly turn into totalitarian insanity. Isn’t that what we are seeing now? Everyone has some crazy idea that they know how people should be in a “good” world. Some of these people are nuts, granted, and we all know who those are. But there really are some good-intentioned people doing pretty much the same thing.

Human beings are messy. There really is no way you can get a bunch of them together, let alone 8 billion of them, and think you are not going to have criminals, crazy people, murderers, religious freaks, racists, misogynists, violent sociopaths, and all sorts of other shady shadowy folks amongst them. That’s humanity for you. It takes all kinds.

My fight for a “better world” doesn’t mean a fight for perfection. The only real tenet that I believe is foundational, is freedom—and more succinctly defined as freedom from tyranny. And, of course, working toward maintaining, or developing, a keen awareness of who we are as spiritual/physical beings. But even that is mostly a pipe dream. However, I think it is worth working toward. Anything else is futile nonsense. To be human we all possess a shadow side.

Being physical always carries a tension of the opposites. We live in a dynamic filled with paradoxes—there will always be clashes and conflicts. And as such, there will always be warriors to push the culture in one direction or the other. There will always be sides, and there will always be a cause to fight for.

To claim oneself to be a champion of humanity is to claim humans have the right to be human. This includes all of their little, and big, oddities. It does not mean that humanity should not work toward a “better” human, but this even has limits. What makes a human better? I don’t know if we can come up with an intellectual definition of “better”—which has been a huge part of our problem—the problem is that we keep thinking we can adequately define a “better” human. We must know in our hearts what is “better” (we already do know, through “consciousness of the heart”). We also must know in our hearts an understanding that “better” is flexible, and is more dependent on individual creativity than on a mass, rigid, consensus.

We can say that God tells us what is better, and I do agree this is true, but I don’t think He does so in words. I think He does this through His creation, in nature, in our hearts, and in the love we experience every day. He instills in us a willingness and desire to search out, in this sometimes-barren land of physical manifestation, the “better” we can see in potential, emanating out of all of it, particularly out of the other humans we experience around us.

Making the “machine” (the machine is, in part, the human body) better is not really the same. Trying to improve on God’s creation, if inspired by God, can be a noble, and a loving, cause. But we see very little of that in our world today. Technological advances are inspired by greed for money and power and very seldom inspired by love. Love has become a secondary incentive in today’s world. It no longer has the impetus it once had (maybe it never had all that much, but certainly more so than today). Love is now seen as a cruel joke by the powerful manipulators of our current apocalyptic world.

Here is a quote I found recently by an author named “A Lily Bit” and the article it is taken from can be found here:

“The battle is not over land or resources, but over the essence of what makes us human: our ability to think, feel and act freely. The elite’s goal is disturbingly straightforward: to hollow out the individual, leaving an empty shell while stripping away the soul.”

This sums up the current battle for humanity. If we win this battle, what are we then left with? If some think it will be a purely Christian world governed by an authoritarian “head of the church” then I suggest that is not really honouring the great varieties of human expression. If some think it will be a world of free human beings, free from global tyranny, and allowed to express and create within the confines of their own personal limitations, then they probably have a better idea of what humanity is all about.

I am not saying it would be a world free of Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, or Hindus, on the contrary. It will be a world where humans can partake in their own personal journey of discovery—and in my view, this discovery would be the discovery of God in the variety of ways humans define God. Is this vision also too rigid? I don’t think so, because it leaves open to creativity the essence of human diversity. And in that diversity, all manner of expression will be found—and expressed!

Challenge and conflict is a mainstay of human existence. We need to allow humanity to continually express these challenges and conflicts, and their potential solutions—but in a free environment. It is important that humans retain access to their souls, and their innate sense of meaning and purpose. In this state of awareness, they can continue with their destiny. Unfortunately, this will be messy. There will always be a dark side to humanity. We are manifest beings living in a manifest world. It is impossible to live in that world without some darkness. That is the cost of being alive.

So, the battle we are currently engaged in is not a battle to win a utopian way of life where everyone is the same and is always loving, always peaceful, and always perfect in all ways. It is a battle for humanity—just as humanity is—messy.

A humanity where human beings can continue with God’s plan, and God’s grand experiment, free of the shackles put upon us by others—free to express and to create—free to choose if they wish to have families, relationships, and communities on their own terms, and to benefit individually and communally from their efforts. Free to be individuals, unique, diverse, and creative. Free to be human.

Things to ponder

…if anything, just read the last paragraph…

By Jay Hanson (from Die Off.org.)

a. A COMPUTER ANALOG
————-
Computer software cannot function before it is enabled by the hardware. In other words, functioning hardware MUST precede functioning software.
Human thought is analogous to computer software. Any particular thought (software) cannot precede the neurons, dendrites, neurotransmitters, etc (hardware) that make that specific thought possible. Like all computers, human hardware is the physical prerequisite to human software — but that’s where the similarity with everyday computers ends.
Human brains are much different than the stored-program, digital, binary, single processor PCs we use every day. Instead, human brains are wired (not stored-program), analog (not digital, not binary), multiprocessor (not single processor) “state machines” (program logic may permanently modify itself depending upon the data). A human cannot have a specific thought unless it has been enabled by earlier brain “wiring” (e.g., pre-programmed, formal education, reflection, critical thinking). Moreover, older brains are much harder to “wire” than younger brains.
Brains are mostly hardwired by age 25. By middle age, people may need two or three years of hard work to understand something completely new (grow the brain hardware required to think the thought).
The human brain comes from the factory with a set of empirically designed pre-programs that have historically (over a billion years) tended to maximize “inclusive fitness”. One of these pre-programs was specifically designed to inhibit self-knowledge with respect to social issues. By remaining unaware of our true motives, we are much more effective at deceiving others. We evolved this way because the more convincing liar has the advantage in sexual competition (e.g., Bill Clinton).
In short, people cannot think a thought unless the brain has been previously “wired” to think it. This is why civilization after civilization runs out of energy and collapses http://dieoff.com/page134.htm . This is also why we are presently running out of energy and hell-bent for collapse.
Contrary to the received wisdom, people do not think and then act. They act and then rationalize. New data from the environment is routinely plugged into existing mental hardware (like entering a number into a spreadsheet), which is then followed by an appropriate thought. Since people have no wiring for “peak in oil and gas production”, news of the present energy crisis cannot generate the appropriate thought. Only prolonged reflection can grow the required mental hardware to place this critical piece of news in perspective. Unfortunately, only a few people can invest the thousands-and-thousands of hours necessary to see both the energy and evolutionary aspects of the human condition clearly.
b. A SOCIAL PRINCIPLE
———————–
Individuals come from the factory pre-programmed to seek inclusive fitness in ways that have actually worked in the past. In modern society, economic growth serves as a proxy for increasing fitness. This is why we “feel good” when we make money, buy a new SUV, and so on. Unfortunately, when our pre-program determines that inclusive fitness is best served by violating social norms, we will violate those norms and seek a fitness advantage. This explains the higher crime rates in our lower income populations and why nations go to war.
Societies can remain reasonably stable as long as their economies continue to grow — continue to serve inclusive fitness for the majority. But when economic growth becomes physically impossible — as it must — societies will disintegrate into anarchy and war, as individuals and groups seek advantage.
CONCLUSION
———-
Once one understands the three simple energy principles outlined in this paper, then one understands that the only way our society could be actually be “sustainable”, would be to continuously reduce our aggregate energy footprint. Put differently, energy laws will force us to continuously reduce our aggregate footprint whether we choose to or not.
Once one understands human nature as outlined in this paper, then one also understands that continued social stability requires us to continuously INCREASE energy use, which we now know is impossible! It should not come as a surprise that we have been pre-programmed to overshoot and crash just like other animals http://www.dieoff.org/page80.htm .
There are absolutely no humane solutions available to the ruling elite because it is impossible to solve the problem of human corruption (i.e., the genetic pre-program to violate norms and seek advantage). Unfortunately, the best the poor can hope for is a painless death.

“The only real tenet that I believe is foundational, is freedom ”

That word has been just used destroy humanity by allowing for the most extreme acts of degeneracy that a sick mind can imagine. For example, schools used to enforce dress codes, which was based in moral principles i.e. people act the way they look.
Freedom to promote filthy film , music and lifestyle has led America to a society killing moral collapse. A nation of hedonistic, immoral people will not survive the test of time. As any student of history knows , the pendulum is nearing it’s apex and hard swing back to the Right is coming. Books will be burned.
This is the end result of too much freedom, simply because we were “bored” and championed the civil liberty libertine lawyers in making everything from porn to infanticide legal, for muh freedom and fun.
Everything has a price.

Revelation 13:3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly

“wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.

In 1848, the great revolution which shook so many thrones in Europe, drove the pope also from his dominions. His restoration shortly after was through the force of foreign bayonets, by which alone he was upheld till his final loss of temporal power in 1870. The overthrow of the papacy in 1798 marked the conclusion of the prophetic period of 1260 years, and constituted the “deadly wound” prophesied in Rev.13:3, to come upon this power; but this deadly wound was to be “healed.” In 1800 another pope was elected; his palace and temporal dominion were restored, and every prerogative except, as Mr. Croly says, that of a systematic persecutor, was again under his control; and thus the wound was healed. But since 1870, he has enjoyed no prestige as a temporal prince, among the nations of the earth. {1897 UrS, DAR 160.1}…”

I respectfully, but wholeheartedly disagree with the premise that the pope “has enjoyed no prestige as a temporal prince, among the nations of the earth”

World ‘leaders’ meet with him….and he is instrumental in bringing the Abrahamic religions together as one in a quest for world peace!

It is my strongly considered belief that America (Amaruca-The Land of the Plumed Serpent) is Mystery Babylon….

There are basically two types of people in the world. There are the regular people, who just want to live their lives, and leave other people to live theirs, and there are the sociopath’s and psychopaths who want to enslave other people.
Unfortunately, it is always the sociopaths and psychopaths that gravitate to positions of power. For that reason, government must always be kept small and its power very limited or it is used by the sociopaths/psychopaths as a tool to commit crimes of inhumanity against the good people of the world.

Religions help. Except for Islam, which mandates only good behavior for Muslims, most religions provide some form of good or moral behavior. People are messy, but it helps to have that inner voice trying to guide one into being a good person. Criminal law does not work nearly as well because most people realize there are many obstacles between crime and punishment.

Life is paradoxical. We are taught to believe that beauty is more then skin deep. Maybe it isn’t. As nature would have it. Morality is meant to be an agreed upon social code. But who is meant to creat the code. Maybe, you are the ultimate creator and you are meant to discover your own code. Dogmas of one kind or another always struck me as puerile.

But you do realize the paradox the “discover[ing] your own [moral] code”
is entirely meaningless until you find a number of people who discovered a very similar moral code?

The article speaks of freedom, are you REALLY willing to be free? Freedom is not being dependent, can you grow your own food and make everything you need? Are you willing to work that hard ? Willing to live a Spartan life? Hmmmmm?

Either become independent or enjoy the society they shove down your throat. And be sure to fork over a grand for that new and improved cell phone that will be your jailer.

If God does not inform us via His written word, we are then left only with the god of our imaginations and we are no gods at all, though many will believe otherwise.
