Humans vs. Earth

As humanity increases by BILLIONS in shorter and shorter time-frames … planet Earth is ravished.  No, I am not some environut-tree-hugger. I’m a realist. Don’t you understand the concept of non-renewable resources?

Anyway, Earth from space, provided by Sputnik News (yea!, Russia, for some truth!), the following gorgeous photos show how mankind has shaped the landscape of our planet, for better or worse.

While it is true that humans depleting underground water supplies can create a huge sinkhole, there are cases for sinkholes that are far, far away from human habitation.

Saudi Arabia – After the humongous amounts of oil pulled from below the earth’s surface, I’ve wondered why half of that nation hasn’t been swallowed by an immense hole. Maybe someday, the entire ME will disappear – YEA.

Most sinkholes are the result of limestone erosion.

Some are also caused by human activities, but most of the rest are the result of the Mole People getting too adventurous and burrowing too close to the surface.

Don’t they use water to replace oil as it’s being sucked out of the earth?

Stucky-if it makes you feel better, just watch a few episodes of the series, “Life After People.”

In just a few hundred years, without maintainence, all of these handiworks of man will be as if they never existed at all……..

Wip.

Latest technology is starting to use Carbon Dioxide.

Completely sequesters it from what I understand, and I’ll bet that drives the and Al Gore and the environmentalists up the wall.
