I was 9 years old when that song was on WABC 77 AM radio and every time we went to a diner I would ask my parents for a quarter to play the jukebox- that song.

One day in the middle of Winter my Father brought home a copy of the album as a gift and I played that song more times than I can remember.

If I’m laden at all
I’m laden with sadness
That everyone’s heart
Isn’t filled with the gladness
Of love for one another

It’s a long, long road
From which there is no return
While we’re on the way to there
Why not share
And the load
Doesn’t weigh me down at all
He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother

Don’t we wish…

A lot of people don’t know that Elton John played the piano on that cut before anyone had ever heard of him. Awesome three part harmony with Graham Nash before there was a CSNY.
