Come on – don’t be hard on the nignog – we were all young once – I can remember cruising through Kent with my beat up Ford Capri Mark I, with go-faster stripes, alloy wheels, furry dice, front spoiler, tacky rear blinds – no sound system but a big battery-operated wogbox on the rear seats at the back. Brilliant days.

That’s what happens when you speed down Darwin Drive.

At least we can confirm that some Darwinian theories are valid.

Oh well, they can’t all be winners. I doubt he is a very fast learner, he’ll probably do it again as soon as he gets out of the hospital. Maybe next time the desired result will happen

The last thing he saw were the large speakers through the back of his head. If you’re going to speed, speed responsibly.

Failure of situational awareness. As your driving speed increases, the amount of information you need to process per unit time also increases, and the further ahead you have to plan (which includes transiting junctions / significant direction changes). Unless you are travelling on a road where the majority of other users are also travelling fast (and in approximately the same direction as you are), that differential speed can lead to problems (mainly arising from other road-users not seeing or reacting to your presence). This is why emergency service vehicles are fitted with visible and audible warning devices. This is also THE major reason behind “burn-out” in emergency services drivers – major workload stress.
