QUOTES OF THE DAY

“These are the times that try men’s souls.”

Thomas Paine, The American Crisis

“Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigues of supporting it.”

Thomas Paine

“A long habit of not thinking a thing wrong, gives it a superficial appearance of being right, and raises at first a formidable outcry in defense of custom. But the tumult soon subsides. Time makes more converts than reason.”

Thomas Paine, Common Sense

“If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace.”

Thomas Paine

“Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one.”

Thomas Paine

Well done, I just finished 1776 and picked up a copy of Common Sense,
which philosophically, are directly in the cross-hairs of the Cultural Marxists.
Strange to me, in that, support of these notions and world views is Reactionary not Revolutionary.
Perhaps the soul of the Reveloution and it’s physical body(Declaration of Independence, Constitution) have been so denigrated that philosophical adherence could now, in 2017, be considered Revolutionary. Or perhaps, Re-revolutionary.

Ah, Thomas Paine, the Poet Laureate of the American Revolution. Not so good a gig in France.
