Outrage Dilution

Guest Post by Scott Adams

I’m having a fun time watching President Trump flood the news cycle with so many stories and outrages that no one can keep up. Here’s how the math of persuasion works in this situation:

1 outrage out of 3 headlines in a week: Bad Persuasion

25 outrages out of 25 headlines in a week: Excellent Persuasion

At the moment there are so many outrages, executive orders, protests, and controversies that none of them can get enough oxygen in our brains. I can’t obsess about problem X because the rest of the alphabet is coming at me at the same time.

When you encounter a situation that is working great except for one identifiable problem, you can focus on the problem and try to fix it. But if you have a dozen complaints at the same time, none of them looks special. The whole situation just looks confusing, and you don’t know where to start. So you wait and see what happens. Humans need contrast in order to make solid decisions that turn into action. Trump removed all of your contrast by providing multiple outrages of similar energy.

You’re probably seeing the best persuasion you will ever see from a new president. Instead of dribbling out one headline at a time, so the vultures and critics can focus their fire, Trump has flooded the playing field. You don’t know where to aim your outrage. He’s creating so many opportunities for disagreement that it’s mentally exhausting. Literally. He’s wearing down the critics, replacing their specific complaints with entire encyclopedias of complaints. And when Trump has created a hundred reasons to complain, do you know what impression will be left with the public?

He sure got a lot done.

Even if you don’t like it.

In only a few days, Trump has made us question what-the-hell every other president was doing during their first weeks in office. Were they even trying?

For a fun party trick, ask your most liberal friends if they think the Federal government should have a say in whether a woman gets an abortion or not. When they say the Federal government should stay out of that decision, inform them that President Trump shares their opinion. He doesn’t want the Federal government to be in the business of making health care choices for women. He prefers leaving that decision to the woman, her doctor, and state laws.

Adams has the ability to see clearly through the fog of war. Trump is Sun Tzu made flesh, I have never seen, nor did I ever expect to see anyone in my lifetime do what he has done.

Let’s recap:

He beat the opponent in the election despite virtually no one predicting or anticipating it as a possibility. An underdog win is worth 2x as much as a favorite.

He undermined the party establishment and stole their head to turn him into a scheduling secretary. Come on, that was a genius move.

He mocks the press so relentlessly that within a few weeks of creating a meme to undermine him, they are now begging their own people to stop using it because it’s been turned back on them. Are you kidding me? Wow!

He’s staffed himself up with some of the heaviest hitters on any Presidential Cabinet since Washington and not one of them was a campaign contributor. Has that happened even once in the past century?

He has turned every single enemy he has into foaming at the mouth nutcases and he hasn’t broken a sweat. Every day they double down and every day he heaps more coals on their heads.

He has slaughtered virtually every sacred cow they have placed before us in the past fifty years and he appears to be on the look out for new ones he may have overlooked. Watching them decide which one to be more outraged about is like watching the Keystone Cops chase the Little Rascals.

And all during this time one person after another in every walk of life and every institution we have is beginning to walk across the lines and ask if they can serve. I don’t think that’s ever happened before.

And now he’s draining the swamp, for real.

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-01-26/entire-senior-management-team-state-department-just-resigned

Watching this unfold is like watching Cirque de Soleil with a couple of glasses of good Burgundy under your belt.

They were not only unprepared for this, they never saw it coming. I don’t even believe they even have a contingency plan.

Not sure what happened to Stucky. I miss the dude. In his place, it would take me a few days to get over the anger at that buyer. I thought it was a shitty move to let Stucky know that he wanted to change those particular things Stucky had killed himself at – the floor, the cabinets, he was so proud as he kept us up to date on all the things he was doing there. I hope Mrs Freud gave him some extra lovin’ for his efforts.

I read somewhere that (in Hollywood) a good contract is one that forces the other to break it. I recalled that because I surmised that the buyer has no way to get out of his purchase and thought he’d irritate Stucky and maybe get Stucky to cancel the deal. But when I offer these things, people tell me I’ve a wild imagination.

HF, I agree with you except it wasnt really nobody giving him a chance to win, I know I did. When he first announced running I read about it where they ridiculed it and said he wasnt even serious, had no chance, just wanted a bit of extra exposure. I believed that at the time, reading it from the MSM. Then I saw Jeb Bush reduced to 3% and drop out early when he was meant to be a shoo in as candidate. I saw the MSM repeatedly say Sanders was finished too, but there he was again and again. Hillary was not the foregone conclusion candidate, Sanders stayed in there and only delegates and skullduggery lost it for him. I figured he had more supporters than Hillary and many of them would not bother voting for Hillary. Then I saw the MSM keep telling us the polls gave Trump no chance, yet if they have a 3% margin of error but different polls are more than 3% apart they cant be trusted. I saw at the same time as the polls insisting he would lose, Hillary unable to fill a high school gym while trump was unable to seat everyone in an arena. So I knew very well that while it was the PC thing to do to denounce Trump the racist misogynist xenophobe satan, that itself made the polls unreliable because many supporters were not saying. The establishment plan looks like it was to rig the polls and then rig the voting by an amount to match, but because the hidden support for Trump was an unknown they could not know how much to rig and so it wasnt enough and he won.

Rdawg,

Surprisingly, the liberal Portland wing-nuts supported the police when they went after the anarchists. The liberals just wanted to have a big-ass peaceful march to show they all hate Trump. They knew that a bunch of black-clad anarchists were going to destroy their march so they wanted the police to jump on them.

The police, to their credit (I can’t believe I’m supporting the police) had their act together. During the protests immediately after the election marchers crossed the river in downtown and got on the freeway and shut it down. When some protesters tried the same thing this weekend the police lowered the boom and fired tear gas and other semi-passive stuff to keep the protesters away from the bridges. It worked and the great majority of the marchers supported the police.

So, all in all, while I’m certainly not in the liberal camp, I appreciated their desire for peaceful protests.

I said before that I watched a few minutes of Entertainment Tonight and realized it is TV for the ADD crowd. They jump from story to story in less than 45 seconds, there is no substance but they give you the impression (using a repetitive jingle and colorful images) that they are feeding you some good shit. Trump’s tweets accomplish the same thing. It isn’t the media that is short of oxygen to the brain, it is the public that is being overwhelmed with a barrage of tweets that reporters pad and flesh out with commentary. Cocksucker Scott Adams breathlessly spins Trump’s attention deficit disorder as calculated manipulation of the media. In reality, Trump has no depth but plenty of newsy distractions. The media whores are not Trump’s victims, they are his bitches.

He is practicing a form of Chavismo, a populist dictatorship. Chavez learned his tricks of public manipulation from Castro who probably learned from Mussolini and Hitler. When we have a full fledged cult of personality going on and Trump is dominating the media several hours a day and he is even giving hours-long performances, then we shall be able to see the truth that Chavismo has come to our shores.

His efforts at managing the economy will lead the US into a grand crisis. Of course, he has the patsy already in the sides, Mexico on one side and China on the other. All the while, he will be lining his pockets and demonizing our trading partners.

The tards will go bananas after the ‘illegals’ and Trump will consolidate his grip on the country. Automation will make American workers redundant and civil war will break out. The rich will continue fleecing the public and the globalists will continue to get rich beyond dreams.

The impoverished unemployed public will play into the plans of the oligarchs; they will demand deportations, sterilizations, ethnic cleansing, abortions and executions. They will inadvertently fulfill the plan of reducing America’s population to 100,000 racially pure upper-crust cream.

Go back and review your initial posts to discover who is initiating hostility.

The media, as you call it, is nothing more than the propaganda arm of the Democrat party. Nobody has de-fanged them; they have largely shot themselves in the foot by doubling down on their outrageous biases. They are still free to “report” whatever they wish. However, consumers of news are not buying it.

El Coyote, while you do make some good points regarding a cult of personality, I gauge Trumps performance by who he pisses off, and who whines the loudest. If the right people are grumbling, calling him names and being “outraged” then I know that he is doing the right thing. When people that I respect, and have honest logical reasons for apposing something he does, and backs those assertions with facts, then I will reassess my feelings on Trump.
So far, all of the right people are whining, and that tells me that he is doing the right thing. The louder the whining, the better the outcome.
Regarding Hitler and Nazi Germany, if you look at some things that Hitler instituted in Germany, they were very beneficial to the German people, however he started to get too powerful (checks and balances removed) and THAT is when things went wildly off the rails. It is up to US, WE THE PEOPLE to make sure that what Trump, as well as ANY leader does has checks and balances imposed. We have a Constitution for a reason, and I will be the first to yell and resist if I see anything he is doing that is against the US Constitution. Problem is that for so long, we have been led by charlatans and carnival barkers, that now that we have a real person that wants to get things done, it is a shock to the system. Just keep an objective eye, and pay attention to the whiners, you will know when something is really a problem.

The difference between the Donald and his predecessors is becoming apparent. Upon their election, they viewed that as the chrysalis of their retirement – neither them nor anyone in their family would ever have to put in an honest day of work for the rest of their lives. He won his argument by appealing not to logic but to the faculty and student body’s sense of morality; which is worse, refusing to snitch on a fellow student or offering a bribe?

These questions are big issues that middle America would struggle with, not so for the oligarchs. Winning trumps fair play and just deals.

As much as I could figure out from the signs I saw, the march was about how it was ok to be a transgendered Muslim illegal immigrant. Turnout was poor and the whole thing haphazardly put together.

They would have had a better turnout if they had had a dildo parade and bake sale.

Agreed, the demos are coming out “supporting” Trump for one reason, they want to get reelected. They are whores. Whores only know one thing, and that is they will side with whatever person / institution has what they want. Of course that helps us. Trump knows that Washington is just a cesspool of whores, and I suspect planned to use that to his advantage all along.
A big part of negotiation is to make the other side of the table believe that the deal you are offering is better than just walking away. The way to do this is by 1. giving the other side no other good options 2. Making them think that what you are offering is going to benefit them in some way greater than the present situation.
The swamp creatures (think John McCain) never CARED one bit about US. We had nothing they wanted other than a vote every few years, and that was easily manipulated by the MSM. However, now they see a real threat to their lifestyle, and must make some changes or they will be gone. Trump has done his job so far well. Do I care who he steps on in Washington, not one bit. Do I care if the dems come on board because they think the gravy train will be bigger for them? Not one bit and you should not care either. The only thing that matters is that their self interest aligns with Americans interests and our long term well being and sustainability. As I stated above, when the right people are whining loudly, then things are getting done.

As an example of who the real whores are, here is a piece of legistlation that Rand Paul apparently wants to introduce regarding health monopolies. The following provisions are included in this “bill” for “our own good”:
Anti-Trust Reform for Healthcare

•Provides an exemption from Federal antitrust laws for health care professionals engaged in negotiations with a health plan regarding the terms of a contract under which the professionals provide health care items or services.

•This section applies only to health care professionals excluded from the National Labor Relations Act. It would also not apply to contracts or care provided under Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP, the FEHBP, or the IHS as well as medical and dental care provided to members of the uniformed services and veterans.

In other words, it ALLOWS certain providers to sidestep anti-trust law. Title 50 USC. Now, I know that a lot of folks respect his father, and respect him, HOWEVER, I see no good reason for this other than he is getting PAID to again sell us out to big medical monopolies. Trump has a LOT of negotiating to do, and it will mean stomping on people HARD in his OWN PARTY.

He apparently has a working brain, good strategists on his side, and the will to succeed.
Steve Bannon from Breitbart is tearing the MSM a new one, and the country seems to believe he is right and they deserve it. Having the neocons evicted from the State Department is a move for the ages; these illegal aliens statistics are kryptonite to liberals, it’s why Obama never collected / publicized them. Building the Wall is an isolating move; but you have to isolate before you can purge and purify the terrorists from our midst. I heard some bozos on NPR lamenting Trump’s policies this morning, and all I could think was,”YOU don’t believe in countries, you believe in one world and the new world order; what do you mean ‘We need a conversation on what we believe as a country”!
R.I.P. Andrew Breitbart, the deceased journalist who keeps on serving his country through his disciples; we need a hundred more just like you.

A Modest Proposal Furthering and Consolidating the Trump Revolution

1. We demand the unification of all Whites in the Greater America on the basis of the people’s right to self-determination.
2. We demand equality of rights for the Whites in respect to the other nations; abrogation of the North American Free Trade Agreement.
3. We demand land and territory (colonies) for the sustenance of our people, and colonization for our surplus population.
4. Only a member of the White race can be a citizen. A member of the race can only be one who is of White blood, without consideration of creed. Consequently, no Mexican can be a member of the race.
5. Whoever has no citizenship is to be able to live in America only as a guest, and must be under the authority of legislation for foreigners.
6. The right to determine matters concerning administration and law belongs only to the citizen. Therefore, we demand that every public office, of any sort whatsoever, whether in the state, the county or municipality, be filled only by citizens. We combat the corrupting Wall Street economy, office-holding only according to party inclinations without consideration of character or abilities.
7. We demand that the state be charged first with providing the opportunity for a livelihood and way of life for the citizens. If it is impossible to sustain the total population of America, then the members of foreign nations (Mexicans) are to be expelled from the land.
8. Any further immigration of non-citizens is to be prevented. We demand that all non-Whites, who have immigrated to America since 20 January 1985, be forced immediately to leave America.
9. All citizens must have equal rights and obligations.
10. The first obligation of every citizen must be to work both spiritually and physically. The activity of individuals is not to counteract the interests of the universality, but must have its result within the framework of the whole for the benefit of all. Consequently, we demand:
11. Abolition of unearned (work and labour) incomes. Breaking of debt (interest)-slavery.
12. In consideration of the monstrous sacrifice in property and blood that each war demands of the people, personal enrichment through a war must be designated as a crime against the people. Therefore, we demand the total confiscation of all war profits.
13. We demand the re-patriation of all American industries.
14. We demand a division of profits of all banking industries.
15. We demand an expansion on a large scale of old age welfare.
16. We demand the creation of a healthy middle class and its conservation, immediate communalization of the great warehouses and their being leased at low cost to small firms, the utmost consideration of all small firms in contracts with the State, county or municipality.
17. We demand a land reform suitable to our needs, provision of a law for the free expropriation of land for the purposes of public utility, abolition of taxes on land and prevention of all speculation in land.
18. We demand struggle without consideration against those whose activity is injurious to the general interest. Common national criminals, usurers, profiteers and so forth are to be punished with death, without consideration of confession or race.
19. We demand substitution of conservative law in place of the liberal law serving a globalist world-order.
20. The state is to be responsible for a fundamental reconstruction of our whole national education program, to enable every capable and industrious American to obtain higher education and subsequently introduction into leading positions. The plans of instruction of all educational institutions are to conform with the experiences of practical life. The comprehension of the concept of the State must be striven for by the school as early as the beginning of understanding. We demand the education at the expense of the State of outstanding intellectually gifted children of poor parents without consideration of position or profession.
21. The State is to care for the elevating national health by protecting the mother and child, by outlawing child-labor, by the encouragement of physical fitness, by means of the legal establishment of a gymnastic and sport obligation, by the utmost support of all organizations concerned with the physical instruction of the young.
22. We demand abolition of the mercenary troops and formation of an American (white) national military.
23. We demand legal opposition to known lies and their promulgation through the press. In order to enable the provision of an American press, we demand, that:
a. All writers and employees of the newspapers appearing in American media be members of the race;
b. Non-White newspapers be required to have the express permission of the State to be published. They may not be printed in English;
c. Non-Whites are forbidden by law any financial interest in American publications, or any influence on them, and as punishment for violations the closing of such a publication as well as the immediate expulsion from the land the non-Whites concerned. Publications which are counter to the general good are to be forbidden. We demand legal prosecution of artistic and literary forms which exert a destructive influence on our national life, and the closure of organizations opposing the above made demands.
24. We demand freedom of religion for all religious denominations within the state so long as they do not endanger its existence or oppose the moral senses of the White race. The Party as such advocates the standpoint of a positive Christianity without binding itself confessionally to any one denomination. It combats the Mexican within and around us, and is convinced that a lasting recovery of our nation can only succeed from within on the framework: The common good before the individual good.
25. For the execution of all of this we demand the formation of a strong central power in the Federal Government. Unlimited authority of the Federal Government over the States and their organizations in general. The forming of state and profession chambers for the execution of the laws made by the Federal Government within the various states of the union. The leaders of the Party promise, if necessary by sacrificing their own lives, to support by the execution of the points set forth above without consideration.

See, I missed this post and here you are going off the rails.

Do you really believe this or is it histrionics? I get what it feels like to be marginalized and vilified simply because of your race AND I LIVE HERE.

There has to be some kind of middle ground between what the Founders intended and what we wound up with based on our past mistakes, but this isn’t an either/or proposition and I think you know that.

Let’s all take a deep breath and think like adults. If we put on our thinking caps and tackle what are clearly real and present dangers first, the other parts will likely not seem as daunting. Pretending that everything status quo is working out for us is simply not true.

Trump? So far so good.. The press and academics are squeeling like little girls. That is a real good sign. The education establishment needs to be flushed like a full toilet.

“Not sure what happened to Stucky. ….. it would take me a few days to get over the anger at that buyer.” ——— El Coyote

There were about 18 issues on the inspection report. Some were big ticket items. Many were nickel and dime shit. We agreed to 9 issues. My offer was this; we’ll do the two big ticket items; leveling the back yard ($1500) and treating the house for termites ($535) …. and they do all the 7 nickle and dime shit. (Nickle and dime in terms of cost … but, not labor.).

So, the guy was here earlier this week with his architect. While here he asked why we hadn’t yet started doing the nickle and dime shit. WTF?? I called the lawyer. And he said, “Oh, I thought you would do BOTH the nickle and dime shit, plus the 2 big ticket items, but not the other 9 things. That’s how I wrote it up.” FUCKMEINTHEASS!!! (Hey, GV, don’t take that literally.)

So, I’ve been fixing shit.

Oh, and the closing date has been moved from Feb 15 to March 1. Fuck.

So, yeah, that has me busy and pissed.

And, I’ll tell you another thing that has me really irritated. In another thread I replied to someone’s comment that was clearly meant to be lighthearted and humorous. That person accused me of having the mind of a 6 year old. He got several thumbs up from people here, and I got several thumbs down for making a joke.

So, why the fuck should I continue to comment when I can’t even kid around without getting down voted? I’m the Rodney Dangerfield of TBP. Jokes are all I have because, really, I don’t inspire anyone here, and without a joke I’m nothing but another asshole commentor.

Also, I’ve been working on and off on an article– “How Mice Saved Ancient Judaism From Disappearing Off The Face Of The Earth”. I don’t write “off the top of my head” … most of my stuff takes a lot of research. And, as usual, this article is taking up waay more time than I intended.

But, again, thanks.

Stucky I never got to thread with the joke but I’ll give you a thumbs up now. If it helps. Seems people can’t take a joke these days. Maybe it is Trump running around gaslighting everything. Just think six weeks from now you will be free and clear.

The people buying your house are fucken’ idiots. No offense but all the houses to choose from and they pick one they are going to tear apart. Pretty dumb if ya ask me.

In the meantime maybe folks here can sing along to this song.

Yep! Too funny! Sounds like these people have watched too many Home Improvement Shows. Rest assured whatever budget they have it will be exceeded by 20 Large before all said and done.

This place wouldn’t be the same without ya! On the bright side home closing will be soon.

Knock it off. Your castle thread was one of the best things I’ve come across on the Internet in 25 years. Ditto a couple of your other labors of love. Reading your copfuk stories, the house selling tales, the one about your parents- they are all inspiring, important works that make up the fabric of something very unique. Trying to relegate your worth to being a comedian is something I’m familiar with and it it’s disingenuous.

Both you and EC are in the middle of something, obviously, but don’t underplay the importance of what you do.

Thank you, Mr. Farmer!

Really. My very first Pictorial Essay … do you remember it? You should … it was about bridges. And YOU told me how much you liked it … and, your son also! That was massive encouragement to do more of them. Otherwise, I’m pretty sure it would have been a One And Done thing.

What can I say? I, and probably EC, are very special snowflakes whose feewings get easily hurt. It’s a flaw in my psyche, for sure. Thank you, and my other pals here, for the kind words and encouragement. Really.

I apologize for going off the rails.

Stucky- When I feel sorry for myself dealing with the daily BS of life, I read your tribulations and I begin to understand that my problems are trivial. Seriously, those here who advised you to reduce the price down a little and sell the house “AS IS” were right on the money.

I get downers, so what, so does EC and a lot of other commenters and we don’t give a rat’s behind. This place is waaaay more fun when you are here in the mix. Looking forward to your new article, sounds good.

Indeed, you do get your fair share of downs. Yet, it never seems to bother you … you just come back nastier than ever. 🙂 I could learn from you. This is certainly NOT the first time I’ve become flummoxed by the voting thing. I really DO need to grow thicker skin. Or, a set of cajones.

“Stucky I never got to thread with the joke …” —– RiNS

Thanks. Here ya go:

CCRider wrote; — “I was born and raised in Connecticut until the age of 18 ”

I responded with; “You were born until the age of 18?? Your mom must have been pretty exhausted afterwards.” I got 6 downs for that.

CCRider responded with; “Born AND RAISED Stucky. This is not a giant mental leap for most people over the age of 6 or those with room temperature IQ’s.” He got 7 thumbs up for that.

See what I mean? Assholes!!!

BTW … that would be the same CCRider who already today said Uncola’s new article is a waste of time.

Stuck, sorry to hear about those jerks. Could it be that St Joey paid you back for not using his agency? Those clay figures are really a moneymaker for the church, you know.

HF, I will have to cool it because there are a lot of tender noobs here (probably those down voting Stucky) who really have no idea of Hitler, to them he is just another historical figure like King George. You know how people have a dislike for ancient history, anything older than Madonna. They cannot imagine a government that goes full-scale rogue. They would rather picture the cops as care bears in blue. I suppose I will go that route and keep it at care-bear level discourse.

I’ll just play my little Dictator Bingo game alone and check off each of the 25 points as they are either proposed or completed.

And Rawdawg had better not call me a whiny bitch or I will sic Rainbow Brite on him.
