Politically the country is and has been going down the shitter since the republicans lost their integrity and the democrats are dead set on hope and fundamentally changing the country. We have lost the republic and our only hope was the desire of one man to make America great again. Well, he attempted to bring the change, but he is not the king and as president, he needs congress to enact the change. As is painfully obvious, his own party soiled themselves in torpedoing his vision and have been exposed as worse than do nothings. So what would you do?
Begging the now traitorous republicans will accomplish nothing. His only recourse is to court the opposition to move an agenda forward. This will have the immediate effect of shaming the republicans and sealing their doom in the next election.
Two possible outcomes can result, the first is the republicans and never trumpers will need to come to see they are screwed unless they work with the president. The second is they resist and get dumped into the dustbin of history. If the first happens there may be hope, if the second occurs, the path of failure was set in motion long before the 2016 elections and we were screwed from the start anyway.
In the end, Trump is a populist and will give the people what they want. He started with a vision but if the people want to revel in diversity and equality and deficate on the country he will step out of the way and allow them the rope to hang themselves.
What he should do is refuse to sign ANY legislation until they fund the Wall. If that means the debt ceiling isn’t extended and the system locks up, sobeit. If that means the government shuts down and nobody gets their Social Security money, tough fucking shit – maybe the oldsters will drive down to Texas and start building the wall themselves. If that means the Dreamers get booted the fuck out, too bad, so sad. Hold the Dreamers hostage? You goddamn right! He should hold everything hostage until he gets his main campaign promise funded.
