America’s Urban War Zone: Baltimore Doubles Chicago’s Homicide Rate In 2017

Via StockBoardAsset.com,

Back in June, President Trump used Twitter to officially announce America’s urban crisis.

He hit the ground running calling out the death and destruction in Chicago.

Trump made it clear that he was “sending in Federal help” to contain the dying city.

Since then, Trump’s focus has transitioned on to an international stage with North Korea’s ‘rocket man’ in a war of words battle.

The geopolitical tensions on the Korean Peninsula and elsewhere have distracted this administration from conquering the real out of control war on city streets.

According to The Daily Caller, Baltimore‘s homicide rate is now doubled Chicago’s in 2017.

Essentially, residents in Baltimore are twice as likely to be shot than Chicagoans. As the battlefield continues to expand, President Trump has yet to mention the chaos in Baltimore just 38 miles North of the White House.

As The Daily Caller points out, the soaring violence in Baltimore is occurring in a much smaller city of 621,000, when compared to Chicago of 2,700,000.

Chicago has suffered 503 gun homicides so far in 2017. With a population of over 2.7 million, the gun homicide rate is at just over 18 people per 100,000 residents.

Baltimore, however, has suffered 275 gun homicides with a population of just over 621,000, putting the homicide rate at more than 44 per 100,000.

The city is on track to break its all-time murder record originally set in 1992, when Baltimore had 100,000 more residents.

The author made a very interesting point, both cities are “long-standing Democratic strongholds”. Not surprising, Baltimore hasn’t had a republican mayor since 1947 and or voted Republican in a presidential election since 1956. On top of failed liberal policies, de-industrialization has stripped the cities of productivity and forced an alarming inequality gap in education, jobs, health, and wealth of residents.

For example, Baltimore has a population of 621,000 and out of that 63% are African American. In highlights below, 1/3 of the African American population has a net worth of zero, which equates to 130,000 residents. Opportunity for most citizens in the city are limited giving way to violent crime and an explosion in homicides.

Ever since the increased scrutiny of police following the 2014 shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri has led to an increased crime rate in both Baltimore and Chicago. In particular, Baltimore’s police department is under heavy scrutiny for planting drugs at crime scenes.

As the social contract between residents and police crack, this gives way to the ‘Ferguson effect’ of increased turmoil in inner cities.

Shown by The Economist, the Ferguson effect demonstrates how homicides in Baltimore have surged…

Perhaps President Trump was on to something in June when he called out Chicago’s urban war zone. Unfortunately, geopolitical tensions on the Korean Peninsula is of a much higher priority to this administration, as the real battlefield on America’s city streets goes unnoticed.

My Good God,
When is SOMEBODY going to DO something about all of these Spooks and their Illegal Weapons?
Are we going to have to wait until they are invading the suburbs and more rural areas in search of food and plunder during the next Financial Apocalypse, and deal with the issue ourselves?
At some point in time this will have to be addressed, and I’m of the belief that it would be better served should it be The Authorities at their leisure rather than Middle America in their Hour of Need……. The body count could be staggering…..

“”Are we going to have to wait until they are invading the suburbs and more rural areas in search of food and plunder during the next Financial Apocalypse, and deal with the issue ourselves?””

Unfortunately, probably the answer is “Yes.”

What a pity , that in just 50 years Baltimore has gone from a top city to live , work and raise a family with the number one public school system in the country to a festering shit hole full of low life BLM bull shitters that blame racism rather then the reflection in the mirror .
Baltimore “HAD” multiple heavy industries and the very people Baltimorons continued to elect to local , state and federal offices sold them out for a welfare check and an EBT card . It’s not just the idiots in Baltimore this cancer is nationwide . Sadly the surgery to remove it will probably kill the patient . As for those graduating from city schools now , most cannot Ebonic their way past an eighth grade level but de bees gettin college loans and grants to further enhance the failure rate . No racism here just a cover up pity party for the true racist in America “The excuse making politician” and the circle jerk from Wall Street to K-Street to Capitol street !

“continued to elect to local , state and federal offices sold them out for a welfare check and an EBT card”.
Have you seen any data on how many welfare & EBT recipients are registered to vote?

Baltimore, St. Louis, and I believe Carson City are the last large independent cities, Independent meaning not part of a larger county. I know with Baltimore, this leaves the city financially isolated.

And regarding “Baltimore hasn’t had a republican mayor since 1947”, what would a Republican administration do differently? (please be specific, don’t give me platitudes like “fight crime” or “create jobs”)

I think that is a good comment. Put republicans in charge of Baltimore right now and see if they can turn that shithole around. I don’t think so. Politicians simply do not have the will to fix anything imo. Plus, I don’t think Baltimore or any city like it (more specifically weatlh/income inequality as well as the vast chasm between those that can and those that can’t) can be fixed.

I don’t think a repube mayor would be permitted to call Arc Light missions on his own city, but I might be wrong.

Sorry, but the answer is to fight crime and create jobs; I’m just not aware of any republicans who would actually do what they say.
Getting tougher on crime gives the budding criminal pause in rethinking the outcome of a life of crime in recognizing the new sheriff in town, who would stop the revolving door when it comes to the criminal justice system.
Less crime means that businesses could actually turn a profit, creating opportunities for new business, as well as existing businesses not having to put money aside to replace their storefront windows every 3 weeks. Increased profits would then naturally result in a larger workforce.
But your a smart guy, discounting the two most obvious needs of declining cities to somehow prove your point.

1- I think we all agree on “fight crime and create jobs” as a strategy; the question is what tactics should we employ.

2-“Getting tougher on crime gives the budding criminal pause”, No, it doesn’t! Most have done a risk/benefit analysis and see crime as the best option. Also most believe they will get away with it.

3-“revolving door when it comes to the criminal justice system”, This is a talking point. Unless you’re proposing life without parole or every conviction, then we will always have a “revolving door”

4-“Increased profits would then naturally result in a larger workforce”, I’d like to see your data on this one.

It may not be possible to ‘fix’ a city once it reaches this stage of decay. I know of no city with a majority black population that is prosperous. There just isn’t enough human capital create jobs ( other than more police, correctional officers and social workers).

That said building a new stadium for the Ravens, whose audience is going to be mostly more affluent suburbanites was a waste of money. No NFL would also probably increase Orioles attendance as the sports ‘dollar’ in a city the size of Baltimore is limited. Hard core NFL fans could simply drive a few miles and go to Redskins games.

The stadium money might have been better spent upgrading the port. That would generate jobs and attract business.

Denying convicted felons the vote is a state issue but if I was the mayor I would certainly push for it. Allowing criminals to vote is how clowns like the Baltimore City prosecutor got her job and a major reason for the low morale in the city police department.

You’re a defense lawyer, right? How would you change that perception?

I don’t hear from them until after they are arrested. If I could talk to them before the crime, I would tell them “the crime you are contempating will plead out for X years in prison. Are you willing to risk a that portion of your life fo this caper?”

Niggers killing niggers.

A good conservative mayor would never have put up with this in the first place.

http://www.educationdive.com/news/several-baltimore-schools-report-0-students-proficient-in-math-reading/443155/

A 2009 study out of Loyola University found that despite a mayoral moniker that Baltimore is “the city that reads,” “in a city of over 700,000, an estimated 200,000 adults were considered functionally illiterate.”

And these people get entitlements? Rewarded for this behavior? They are a net drag, for their entire lives. It’s good they shoot each other, and thin the heard.

Baltimore cannot be turned around. Hundreds of thousands of nigs inhabit the place and they know nothing except multi generational welfare. They can’t read, speak proper English, do simple math. They are totally worthless with no chance of turning their lives around. Avoid these places at all cost.

Sometimes, it’s hard to face the truth, but I don’t think anyone can deny we are burdened by a whole shit ton of useless eaters whose existence is solely the fault of free food, free housing, free medicine, and free utilities. If we let people starve to death as a lesson to the rest of us that nobody gets a free lunch, perhaps folks would make different decisions. Come the economic collapse, I suspect (and hope) a whole lot of useless eaters are going to starve to death.
I’m curious to know what the replacement rate is vs the mortality rate? Are they killing themselves off faster with crime, abortion, heart disease, Pokeymon, looting and rioting, death by cop, etc than they can reproduce?

Oh, last thought. In Tragedy and Hope, Carrol Quigley stated every nation that has more people than food to feed them becomes a tyranny as the only way to keep order. So in a crisis, even if the results are localized to the ‘hood, what do you think it will take to keep them in line if EBT cards aren’t getting loaded and nobody wants to deliver to the ghetto? I wouldn’t want to be living in those trendy millenial north-side Baltimore neighborhoods when things go bad.

The unions are the real gangs of these poor and decaying cities. They demanded higher and higher pay until the companies left for China and elsewhere so now there are no jobs.
