And the target is none other than Paul Manafort, who briefly served as chief executive of the Trump campaign last summer before reports about his work for Ukraine’s former leader Viktor Yanukovich forced him out. Manafort has reportedly been asked to surrender by the FBI, sparing him an embarassing perp walk.

Manafort’s former deputy Rick Gates has also been asked to surrender.

The charges against the pair weren’t immediately clear. But they do represent an escalation in the probe that has loomed over President Trump’s first year in office.

Gates is a longtime protege and junior partner at Manafort’s firm. His involvment in the probe was revealed in the spring. His name appeared in documents linked to a Cypriot firm Manafort set up to receive payments from Eastern European politicians like Yanukovich, who purportedly paid Manafort with money looted from the Ukraine state.

Manafort had been udner investigaiton for violations of federal tax law, money laundering and whether he failed to properly disclose his foreign lobbying.

As we’ve noted, since these charges mostly stem from Manafort’s work before he became involved with the campaign, they leave ample room for Trump to declare victory.

As far as impact to the market – so far nothing – and as KBW’s Brian Gardner explains, none is expected, despite expectations for much sound and fury and told-you-so’s from the left.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s indicting former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort or former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn over activities separate from Trump campaign/administration would be “mostly political noise,” and would not significantly affect markets.

However, Gardner notes that any unsealing of indictments may dominate the week’s entire news cycle, drowning out coverage of tax legislation and monetary policy.

Now, we watch for the administration’s response.

The Swamp strikes back.

This wouldn’t have happened if Trump had simply gone along to get along the way the rest of the Presidents for the last 50 years have.

Manafort probably avoided paying taxes on some of his Ukie money. BFD. The indictment came down now to deflect from Uranium One and the Obama/Clinton/CNN connection to Fusion GPS and their phony dossier used to justify FBI/NSA spying on a major presidential candidate. Trump’s got nothing to worry about because there’s no there there. Let the Dems and their media lackeys waste another year with this boring-ass witch hunt. Rosie O’Donnell will still only have one vote. The Republicunts will hold the House and gain seats in the senate. Hopefully more cuckservatives will decline to seek reelection or get primaried. Then we can start getting some shit done. Also, Ginsberg’s going to die one of these days, and hilarity will ensue.

At least the public will forget about the Clinton’s now and concentrate on Trump’s crimes and removing him from office.

FWIW, give me a simple dozen people and unlimited resources without restraint and I will find at least one felony that has been committed by at least one of them, even if it is a circumstantial one rather than a hardcore one.

Even if they trump up some charges against Trump, the only result could be an impeachment attempt. If democrats controlled Congress, impeachment would already be underway, and they wouldn’t even have bothered trumping up a charge. The charge would have been “You called a guy a Mexican, then you beat Hillary, so you’re getting impeached.” It’s all politics and – unlike with Watergate – Trump has the numbers. The only pertinent question has always been how many Republicans in the House would impeach and whether enough Republicans in the senate would vote to convict to reach the 2/3 needed for ouster. As Corker and Flake have discovered (and demonstrated) Republicans who oppose Trump become political dead meat.

When the impossibility of removing Trump through impeachment becomes obvious to the Swamp, they may move on to a plot to assassinate – although they would really be risking trouble. Trump may have to lob some more Tomahawk missiles onto an empty runway somewhere to head-fake the fuckers.

You do realize that the charges against Manafort and Gates were from issues they had back in 2009?
That Obama scurried the investigation at the time appointing Just. Jackson in charge who promptly closed the issue.

The media keeps saying “Trump this and Trump that,” but the charges have NADA to do with Trump–or even Russia for that matter. The crooked deals were struck with Ukraine Pres Yaks before Hillary and company illegally overthrew that nation’s democratically elected govt…….

This is 100% an offensive move to distract from Uranium-gate. It has nothing to do with Trump, the election or Russia.

If I could only sleep through this week, for as the media screams for Manaforts head, this will be their last attempt in stopping the Trump train from rolling over their bruised and bloodied reputations.
The next week will be the real show, when “the informant” will publicly testify his knowledge of the selling out of America by the forces of Obama/Hillary. This apparently will coincide with Antifa’s declaration of their attempt at bringing down the government.
There are many plot twist possibilities: “the informant” disappears, the MSM successfully burys the story (a stretch), or Antifa becomes a Keystone Cops comedy. And lastly, the possibility of an ever imminent black swan event, that may be the left’s last attempt at “transforming” the country (as they were not able to be elected to do it), as they sink into a sea of irrelevance.
As always, nothing to vote for or accomplish, just stay indoors until it all blows over and enjoy the fireworks, for the show must go on.

I’m not sure he has anything here yet other than accusations made for political purposes.

In any event, even if it turns out he does, he had to go back quite a way to find anything to use against anyone. Trump wouldn’t be even vaguely involved with it, or be reasonably expected to know anything about it.

These charges don’t seem all that bad, considering. Failure to register as an agent of a foreign government, and tax hanky-panky? The Clinton foundation failed to file its non-profit paperwork on time and had to refile 6 years of taxes that contained errors. Anyone get indicted over that? It will take a long time to sort through the various tax moves and use of off shore accounts, and to present evidence understandable to a jury is no small task.

Manafort may be in trouble on the tax evasion, but they have to prove it first. And most importantly, the alleged crimes all occurred when another President was in charge.

Tax fraud/evasion? Add Al Sharpton and his unpaid-never will be paid 4.5 million in state and federal taxes to the list. The whole Mueller – nigger-in-the-woodpile hunt is a cover up for the nigger-in-the-woodpile and his criminal administration. POS community organizer now has wealth in excess of 40 million dollars. I’m sure it’s from all those thrilling, must read books he keeps putting out.

Admin.,

I had to put in walnuts and in ground irrigation this year to the tune of 42,000 up front. I am breathing a little easier now, so the check is in the mail.

I think this pretty much indicates the Russian Collusion aspect of this story is finished. The only aspect of this that relates to that part of the investigation was the junior nobody that apparently plead guilty to obstruction.

I do think the indictments were rushed out for political reasons, but it doesn’t change the fact that these charges have literally nothing to do with Mueller’s original mandate. The Russian Collusion story is finished and Mueller apparently knows it.

Card802- I have written about this for way over a year, reading this thread I am puzzled that people are completely confused about the entire situation. In short, I could not even guess how many times I have written about this accompanied by links etc.

No matter how many times you point out the truth to Da Lemmings, they roll their eyes and blow you off, and here they hit you with downers and act as though you are against all that is right and holy which is the exact opposite of the truth. The surprise will be good enough for these maroons.

I am loyal only to the truth Card, I embrace no politicians no matter which side of the argument on any thread here on the platform. People here don’t give a damn about truth.

Loyal to the truth you are allowed to know, unless you have some connections is some very high places.
We’ll never know the real truth about Trump and Russia, just like we’ll never know the truth about, well, just about everything that is reported as truth.

So allow us to have a little fun, we pretty much know the fix is in for Trump and whatever happens going forward is going to be a shit show, and stay away from crowds.

Card, I must be the only person here who did any real reading about DT for the last 20 years because I sure as hell knew about all of the dealings and connections years ago in detail…..long before any of you dreamed he would be a candidate.

So, what you are saying is ignore the truth and have fun while the Titanic sinks because you no longer care or you have alliances in other places? There is a time for fun and a time to lay things out. Just wait for the surprise.

Will someone kindly point Mueller & Company in the direction of the “real” story; Hillary Clinton, Slick Willy, Bathhouse Barry, Clinton Foundation, Podesta, Uranium One, DNC and any number of other Dimrat types. Until the above comes to his attention, Mueller will continue down the “Rabbitt’s hole”

I think the swamp strikes back , nothing in Washington is done for the purpose that seems to be logical . The deep state , the media and all the minions that benefit from bleeding our country dry are continuing till there is nothing left . Mueller is nothing but a dog & pony show after all Trumps first indications were to make peace and agreements with Russia and Putin . The deep state cannot have that because Russia and the U.S. working together fairly with mutual respect would be horrible for their cash cow !
As for the Clinton’s , ever try nailing jello to the wall . With their combined trail of scandles and dead bodies and always questionable financial mischief yet nothing ever sticks . This has to be thanks to the media and the justice department always just letting it go with a flimsy excuse that would land any average person bankrupt and in prison .
Remember after Seth Rich got his end game Debbie Blabbermouth Shultz clamed up and is off the front page . I thing Rich’s death made sure she got the message .
Let’s also not forget Mrs. Clinton’s Sworn Testimony was factually incorrect . In everybody else’s case that’s perjury . Did you wipe the server , you mean with a cloth ? Any republican would have been crucified for that smartass remark but not a Clinton they are bullet proof when it comes to accountibility on anything . WHY ???
