I think it’s working okay. Yeah, every once in awhile some dickhead discovers this place and starts trying to piss on all the fire hydrants. But most of them don’t persist long. And those that do get dealt with by JQ in due time.
There are many posters I just scroll past when I see the name; it’s no big deal.
Some discussion forums have an “ignore” feature, so you can avoid seeing posts from people you consider an asshole. That would be great here. I hate wasting time reading a comment only to find out it’s one of the usual idiot paid trolls. Names don’t matter much when many people post as “Anonymous” at least occasionally.
On the flip side, it would be nice to have a separate feature to view ONLY the comments of people you’ve approved. At this point I would read all of the regulars, but might not bother with others.
I don’t support requiring an account, and applaud Jim for not doing so. That would deter free discussion of many topics.

I have taken my share of shit for my posts on this site and I am good with it. The only answer to trolls is to ignore them. I am not for banning anyone maybe because my unpopular posts would be banned and you would all be poorer for it.
As for trolls – wrestle not with pigs, you get dirty and the pigs enjoy it- if no one is wrestling they get bored and move on.

I think someone who thinks the Q stuff is bullshit has a valid case. We have huge differences of opinion about 9/11, Trump, chemtrails, the military, and cops. What the hell is a Q believer?
Right now, I’m thinking of Swamp Fox and Andrea Spammer. They had many chances. Even after their contributions became clutter, they received even more chances. They both had that “biting on tinfoil” quality that can make for a good commenter here and made a few decent contributions now and then (IMO). But, in the end, their tactics were deemed by Admin not to be in the best interest(s) of TBP.
Admin deciding is the best way. It’s his deal and he should be the final arbiter on banning. Prior to any banning taking place, however, the trolls will be ignored and engaged; they will slink off into oblivion or rise to the challenge.
From my own experience, online commenting is a long narrow trench filled with sharks, stingrays, killer whales, big dogs, wolves, lions, bears, vampires, tigers, and evil clowns; where good people are relentlessly tortured and often die miserable deaths. But there is also a downside to it as well.
Hey Undocumented, somebody (WIP) was asking about Swampy. He couldn’t remember the old boy’s moniker. Seems he’s keeping a diary and recording all the folks Admin has banned in case there’s a congressional investigation. He’s going to throw us all under the bus. Weasel.

As for Q…… I’m pretty sure the Donald has one of his “advisers” doing this work, to weed out traitors. “Q ” and the Donald are working hand in hand in a spy vs spy role. One “tweets” the other posts to a message board. This is something that would be right up the Donald’s alley.
I don’t mind difference of opinion–I’ve learned long ago that I don’t know everything and as I get older I realize how much I don’t know.
There is a discernible variation though. The trolls who post inane crap that has no reference to the article for the purpose of distraction and conflict. There are websites I no longer visit at all–because I don’t have the time to scroll through 100 troll chits and those who argue with them, to find someone who has attempted to share some critical thinking on an issue.
Examples:: one troller would post dozens of anti-god comments on every article or misquoted or intentionally blasphemed ( no matter the topic) to start the same boring Believers vs atheists blatherings. It would hijack a entire thread and one could get no insight on people’s thoughts about a thought provoking article. Another example:: a troller does a daily market recap and bloviates on how rich he is getting and that everyone who thinks the economic fundementals have issues is just a doom-porn conspiratists. He goes on to cut and paste dozens of MSM business pages lauding the .1% ers fattening waistlines.
People like these, who post sometimes dozens of off-topic space eaters per page, I have no problem with a ban.
This site has plenty of one-trick-ponies with their daily reminders of enemy #1–but most of these are not trollers as they limit themselves to situational reminders. If someone here thought the Amish were the reason for the world’s ills–I could tolerate even 1 comment per article about those fiendish, bearded throwbacks. But if they proselytize and space-hog to a level that I’m ever-scrolling to get past their single-minded fixations, then they become a hinderance–vote them off the island I say.

One other thing–I don’t consider that censoring, but on the contrary, banning these usurpers of space and time ensures sites like this continue to be a bastion of free thought, different opinions and slinging of monkey poop. Stuck, you know I’m a bit torn on this. I was wrong about AI though. Interestingly, she did have some good insight. I stand by that statement. I’m seeing less shitfests but maybe it’s because of my New Year’s resolution.

I actually read a great deal of her blog posts. She had a penchant for basing her articles on misunderstanding her source material in the extreme. Couple of examples:
She once wrote a diatribe about how low the reported property tax revenue from all of the states was in official reports. The gist of the article was that the states must be skimming the actual money for other nefarious purposes while showing low numbers. The problem is, she did not recognize that the revenue figures were stated in thousands of dollars. In other words, if a state said they made $1,000,000 USD in property taxes in the official data tables, the real figure would be a billion. She dutifully linked the source material, but failed to notice the footnotes to the data, and got pissy and defiant when it was pointed out.
Another example was when she conflated .gov pension liabilities with payouts. According to her math, the U.S. was spending 2/3 of GDP on pension checks for retirees. She wrote a big “exposé” on her blog stating such. Problem is, I did do the math which showed according to her, every pensioner from .gov was getting a million plus per year or some such nonsense in payments. Again, she responded with pure anger and defiance when called on her error.
I have no use for someone with no humility that cannot admit their errors. We all make ’em. Best to own up to it rather than double down. Her removal from TBP was a happy day.
I’m not saying Admin did the wrong thing. Pretty much everyone was in agreeance with not wanting her on the site. No spilt milk.

Maybe my vote doesn’t count as much since I’m not on TBP much since Q arrived but I dislike the Anonymous option of signing in or posting. TBP is (to me anyway) a community of people solving the worlds problems by pounding our keyboards (or puds, as needed). Personally I ignore all posts by anyone posing under anonymous. I read comments on the dashboard page so I first scan the name above each post and skip anything prefaced with anon, anonymous or any cute variations on that. It’s actually quite easy and speeds up reading of TBP tremendously. I also skip all posts by two other regulars using the same technique. These two and the various anons could be handing out buckets of cash for all I know. I certainly don’t feel like I’m missing anything by skipping these posts.
Interestingly I really don’t care for the whole anonymous nature of the chans although I do understand it. I don’t like it for the same reasons Stucky points out above….too many fucksticks excreting verbal diarrhea simply because they can. It’s fucked up. Each “bread” is capped at 751 posts and fully 3/4 of those are pure bullshit and noise. It sucks ass having to parse that many posts just to read about 180-200 useful posts.
So yeah, I support banning to a degree but I’d rather see people sign in and consistently post under one name (the odd doppelganging BS aside) so that they become part of the TBP community. The part that blows my mind about comments like this, and it applies whether they are posted anonymously or under a username, is if they truly feel this way, why would they waste a single second of their life making this comment or reading other comments as a prelude to making this kind of comment? A hoax is something false, like our economic and political system. The mantras of control- ‘we are a democracy, diversity is our greatest strength, race/gender are social constructs, etc.’ THOSE are hoaxes. You know who never goes out of their way to claim that those thing are hoaxes?

Q has people looking for answers to questions on their own and the vast majority of those answers are things that have been deliberately concealed from us by the real hoaxers. Whatever tidbits being left around in his posts are simply words and phrases- neither true nor false as written- but powerful in the direction they have led people. Selecting the autists at the chans and in fringe forums was a brilliant move in that the orthodoxy ignores these types or openly reviles them so they were free to keep talking in their intellectual ghettos and it suppressed any distraction from the typical lib trolls because they are afraid of the abilities of these people and their ability to dox successfully.
If you are really and truly looking for ‘proof’ that Q is ‘real’, look no further than the massive implosion of the Deep State’s secretive bureaucratic gestapo. How many of these politically motivated frauds have been exposed in the past year? How many deeply protected secrets have come to surface? How badly has their arrogance come back to bite them in the ass? Has it been a good year for Hillary Clinton and the DNC? How’s their fund raising efforts of late? What about their big supporters in Hollywood? How’s the Immigration debate and the Browning of America program moving along these days? How is the Intelligence Community, particularly the FBI/State Department looking, reputation wise? I thought Trump was going to be impeached by now, what happened there?
I don’t know about Peak Master’s view, but from low orbit it appears that they are getting their asses kicked on a daily basis and they still control what’s left of the media. Speaking of which, how’d that turn out for the old stalwarts? When headlines about CNN feature the terms ‘ratings crash’ and ‘revenue rout’, that’s not good, is it?
I think that most people are still locked in the old paradigm where the left always won every engagement and the “conservatives”- the bastard political offspring of the democrats-swept the room and stacked the chairs after every loss. I’ve got news for you, I talk with a lot of young people and they are- without exception- to the right of guys like me. They want political blood and they’re younger and hungrier and tired of being lied to. If they start asking the right questions, whatever it is that Q has been alluding to is going to look like a good game of cricket by comparison.
So no- let the trolls stay, they’re the dick jokes of the 4th turning, always good for a laugh.

Look, from a personal political belief perspective, I would love nothing more than for the Q call outs to be 100% true. Hence my initial attraction/intrigue whatever the fuck you wish to call it. But one needs to draw the line between wishful thinking, internet hoax LARPER bullshit and reality.
If Q turns out to be the real deal and I’m wrong, well I will buy the case of Rolling Rock and the handles of Wolfschmidts and Passport are on me.
