End Times at the OD Corral

Guest Post by Jim Kunstler

Personally, I believe that the plodding, implacable Robert Mueller, white knight of the Deep State, will flush the Golden Golem of Greatness out of office, probably on some sort of money-laundering rap having nothing to do with “Russian meddling.” Anderson Cooper will have a multiple orgasm. Rachel Maddow will don a yellow hard-hat and chain-saw a scale model of Mar-a-Lago to the glee of her worshippers. The #Resistance will dance in the streets. And then what?

I doubt that Mr. Trump will go gracefully. Rather he’ll dig in and fight even if it means fomenting a constitutional crisis. He’ll challenge Mr. Mueller on veering into matters unrelated to alleged Russian pranks in the 2016 election. He may well attempt the self-pardoning gambit. He will have a lot of support out in the Deplorable gloaming. But, at some point, I expect a bipartisan consensus to emerge in congress that the guy has got to go. He’s making it impossible to conduct even the routines of bribery and domestic collusion that Washington exists for. Nobody is getting paid — at least not the bonuses they’re accustomed to seeing.

The 25th amendment is still the best tool for the job. Unlike impeachment, it doesn’t require much in the way of standards of evidence or any Mickey Mouse niceties of due process. It doesn’t take months and months of tiresome legal gamesmanship, no committees or reports. You just get a small number of cabinet members and congressional leaders to agree that the President is “unfit” — which can mean anything, really — and he’s chopped. General Kelly may be enlisted to pry Mr. Trump’s smallish fingers from the doorjamb and shove him into the waiting limo in the porte cochère for the long sad ride up the Jersey Turnpike.

Enter Mike Pence, slated to be a kind of combination Millard Fillmore / Herbert Hoover. Who knows what really lurks behind the bland Pencean facade, but on the off-chance that he may be a decent fellow of average intelligence, the fates have a way of casting such accidental leaders into ignominy despite their theoretical virtues. Surely, the Deplorables of Flyover Land will not like the dumping of their Golden champion one bit. I’d stay away from post offices and other parcels of federal property for a while. If a bunch decides to march on the nation’s capital, it will be a messier affair than anything the hippies pulled off back in the day, perhaps the first battle of Civil War 2.

The financial markets wobbled and puked on Wednesday and Thursday of this week, finally mirroring the tremendous stresses in our politics. They’ve been every bit as jacked on unreality as the two major parties for years now. The markets, after all, are not the economy itself, just indexes of the supposed values of things, stocks, bonds, gold, soybeans, etc., and the Federal Reserve has been jamming hallucinogens down their craw since the last little seizure in 2008.

The markets don’t seem to like the new chairman of the Fed, a cipher named Jay Powell. In his first big public performance since stepping into Janet Yellen’s tiny shoes this week, Powell managed to do a complete 180 in 24 hours on whether his outfit will stick to four rate hikes this year… or maybe just ride to the rescue of the floundering markets with their old tricks of lowering interest rates and “printing” shitloads of new “money” to get those animal spirits going again in the S & P. Absolutely nothing Powell’s Fed might try will work. In fact they will only make the cratering indexes fall deeper and harder, along with the value of the US dollar. Interest rates can’t go any higher, anyway, without blowing up half the paper obligations on earth. Businesses will be terrified to transact. You can’t do much with a crippled financial system. The authorities and the news media will call it a “recession” but a sore-beset public will know it is the start of something a whole lot worse.

As a nice side-dish to this banquet of consequences, the Democratic party will be deprived of its only reason to live the past two years: to shove Donald Trump off-stage. And the Republicans will be blamed twice over: once, for not coming to Trump’s defense, and again for getting behind him in the first place. Enjoy the last few weeks of relative normality.

He already has committed at least two impeachable offenses.

1. Bombing Assad for use of chemical weapons without any evidence.
2. Openly stating he wishes to violate the bill of rights to take guns with no due process.

When his own Secretary of Defense says there is no proof that Assad used chemical weapons, that makes it a bit hard to defend doesn’t it? However, if Presidents got impeached for uncecessary wars and killing based on false pretenses, we would be all out of Presidents. Hell, they gave Obama a Nobel Peace Prize for all of his acts of violence against others.

Bullshit! Kunstler is playing strawman with a non-existent circumstance. I’ll put Team Trump up against Team Mueller any day of the week.

JK is quite correct. If Trump is overthrown on some BS while the criminal enterprise previously known as the Obama Administration and S of S Hitlary remains unscathed and unexamined, there is a possibility of violence on a monumental scale.
Some may recall that Tea Party march of two million some years back. Some wag said at the time, “now just imagine what happens if next time we brought guns?” The Swamp may not be drained but that means it can still be boiled.

Trump will not be impeached and certainly will not be removed in a coup. Trump has the military on his side, and the combat military is all in for Trump, and hates Obama and the Clintons.

Kunstler still has this fantasy that Trump will be going away but watching what the last few presidents got away with suggests otherwise. If Fast & Furious alone wasn’t enough to get rid of Obama then I do not know what is.

Except that the truth, guilt or innocence, the degree of the infraction and motives have exactly ZERO bearing on what happens to the criminals at this level (read: all of them). The only thing that matters is powerful factions for and powerful factions against. The matter is played out by the powerful behind the scenes..the loser gets hanged (figuratively, in most cases) and then a gullible public is convinced that justice has been done.

You’re right that evidence or crime has nothing to do with it, but they’d still need 67 senators to vote to remove the president. Republican Senators – of whom there will be more, not fewer, after the fall elections – won’t vote out a guy who is popular with 60% of the party base. The most anti-Trump GOP senators: Corker and Flake are quitting because they were likely to lose their primaries. Hopefully McCain will be dead soon, and even Sen. Romney is unlikely to vote to remove the guy who won UT by 18 points in 2016.

Maybe JK is right, maybe not. I’m a little more concerned about millions of teens and their masters agenda on 3/24/18.
We’ve all seen what happens on videos. They are quite naive enuf to hop the fences of the White House.
What do the folks here think?

If the Antifa filth show up anything could happen. Let a couple of hundred Antifa breech the fence and get cut in half by a Dillon mini-gun and then see the reaction.

I think Americans are onto the Jews so if they try and impeach Trump America’s Jews will experience an ‘intifada’ right here in America and their fat pasty bodies aren’t up to the same standards as the IDF so they won’t win.

Simple. All he has to say is this:

“Look folks – it’s like the 4th amendment. The police can’t search you or your stuff without a warrant – but there’s an exception for ‘exigent circumstances’ when people are in imminent danger. That’s all that we’re considering here. If the family of someone with a history of mental illness calls the cops on a Friday night because their son is saying he’s going to walk over to the McDonalds and shoot the place up, the cops could take the gun right away and then deal with the court proceedings within a short, specified period of time.”

He said a mouthful. Must suck to be a guy who considers corruption and turpitude as the good old days.

Kuntsler is one of those guys that longs to be right more than he desires understanding. His long emergency has been waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy longer than he thought, his peak oil ain’t peaked and the stump fingered vulgarian is still sitting in the Oval Office. Come on HSF, you know we’d all be better off in an Agenda 21 style community where we could all walk to everything we needed provided by fedgov. All the land around such communities could be off limits to the populace and the animals would take back their rightful ownership. Why we wouldn’t even need our guns anymore, as our masters could protect us from terrorists and climate change. Get with it, man. Peak oil and global warming are real don’t you know.

I am seeing in Trump two polarizing descriptions, both moving in exactly the opposite direction from each other at the speed of light. The media would have you believe he is falling apart and on suicide watch, as his administration is crumbling before our eyes, while the ones privy to what’s going on beneath the surface portrays the Trump administration as light years ahead of the opposition and minutes away from convicting all the Cabal and banishing them to a penal colony yet to be named.

Here’s the funny part; normally I would say that the truth lies some where in the middle. But in this case, the truth will be found in one or the other extremes; there is no middle ground. Trump will be the greatest genius in the universe, or the most delusional man ever born.

My hope is that the media is being fed the implosion story, to keep them chasing after leaks while the final nails are being hammered into the Cabals coffin. Why? Because it is the only outcome that gives us some hope of a restored Republic; every other scenario will result in chains, pain and the loss of our future for our next generation.

So the hideous bald headed manager of the world’s largest ‘fund’ (((Larry Fink))) is no longer content with skimming hundreds of millions of other people’s money each year to wax fat at his synagogue. He now wants to use your money to take your guns too. Guess he knows his kind is pushing people too far and the only was they can keep their money and influence is to disarm Americans so they can pollute the country and elect more vile ((( Senators)))

Ever heard of a “Debt Jubilee?” That’s when all debt is cancelled.

I’m betting that Trump has seen clearly, way before running for office, that U.S. debt and future obligations can only grow until they disappear all together. His solution? Spend more while the spending is good on that which will endure. Then comes a new age. Probably cryptocurrency centered, though Trump may have different plans.

Better days ahead, or the worst days ahead, depending upon Trump’s ability to continue his game. At this point patriots have no choice but to voice support for him. Those sunshine patriots yielding nothing in the name of purity do not recognize what a game Trump is playing and so voice their disappointment, which if it grows and grows will only defeat us all because the deep state will be the winner aided by the sunshine patriot’s dream of perfection or their if nothing right now this moment, no time left, then fuck you kind of attitude.

Hardscrabble should have a look at oil discoveries in the last ten years to see that we will likely find it difficult to burn one quarter of the oil left in the crust of the Earth in the next 20 years as the world did during the last twenty. Fracking will not allow Baby boomers expecting to retire in luxury and to drive Lexus LS400’s till the last junk bond is defaulted. The long emergency has indeed begun. Even the most vulgarian of deplorables had to have cringed at Trump’s gun comment. Basically Trump does not seem to know how to control what comes out of his mouth, and no, there is no 4 dimensional chess game going on behind the tweets. Just an isolated President trying to steer a nation toward prosperity in the midst of a crack-up boom.

There have been massive new oil fields discovered right in the Gulf of Mexico. Shell has a new field with a couple of billion barrels, part in US and part in Mexican waters.
I am not saying it will be easy to get, but the entire ocean floor between South America and Africa is one giant oil field. Uncountable billions of barrels.
I think the President really does know exactly what he is doing, for whom and why.
