Caren Z. Turner, a Democratic lobbyist from Tenafly, has resigned as a commissioner from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, after an investigation was opened into what agency officials would only describe as “profoundly disturbing conduct.” Turner’s resignation allegedly involved her intervention in a recent traffic stop in connection with her daughter. Turner apparently flashed her Port Authority badge in an effort to intercede with police officers on the scene.

This woman lives in Tenafly, a very wealthy suburb not far from New York City. If one were to drive from Manhattan through the George Washington Bridge and then take 10-15 minutes north, once in NJ, to where her house is located, one would go from an urban, working-class, not very desirable area to a neighborhood marked by houses that sell from a low of $600k to over $1m.
This explains her attitude. She’s well-off and was in a position of privilege (to borrow leftist terminology) and utterly condescended to those LEOs. According to YouTube commenters, she threw in that the adult children in that car were studying at MIT – further attempts to show the LEOs how “high” and “special” she and her kids were.
I read her non-apology on NJ.com. She’s only sorry she got caught and was forced to leave her job.

And yes, I agree with Wip – if a man had acted that way, he would been on the receiving end of physical force from LEOs. She used not only her job to attempt to intimidate those LEOs, but used her gender knowing that it’d be far more difficult for the LEOs to physically subdue a woman.

Even if the LEOs were somehow in the wrong for refusing to answer a question, Caren Z. Turner lost any moral advantage at the moment she flaunted her badge and further lost it when she threw out the irrelevant facts that the young adults present were at MIT and Yale. If they were at some 2-year community colleges, would she have mentioned those schools’ names?
Furthermore, she tried to lord it over them by reminding them of her job and the fact that she supposedly oversees 4k LEOs – she was implying that with the power she had over Port Authority police, she could likewise make things hard for them by pulling certain strings she had access to thanks to the connections she enjoyed by virtue of her now former office.
She also took advantage of her gender by calling one of the LEOs “sweetheart.” If a man were to address a female LEO that way, it would not end well.
Finally, you yourself said a male would be roughed up. She didn’t have a fingertip placed on her because she’s a woman.
Caren Z. Turner is an embarrassment, and while I’ve had my encounters with less than pleasant LEOs, by far the LEOs I’ve dealt with were always sufficiently courteous. No wonder so many LEOs from all over the United States have expressed support for those NJ police officers.
I hope Turner never holds any positions like the one she just lost. I’m biased and I admit it. I don’t want Hillary lobbyists/fundraisers in positions of power, even if it is in a blue state like soon-to-be sanctuary state like New Jersey.

Those cops are local LEOs and Turner’s a Tenafly resident. She specified in her verbal threats to the cops that she’s a friend of the mayor. If she’s so invested in her town she should’ve known LEOs would stop vehicles for unclear plates however odd or shady that in itself might be.

The reason the vehicle was stopped and is being impounded would generally be public information . The 2 LEO’s could have defused the privileged woman with a simple statement of fact and the charge . But noooo why make it simple and shut her up on the spot ! The LEO’s should have been the ADULTS in this confrontation . As for my opinion they were all childish brats ! Perhaps a foot up the ass for her and her sniviling children , children???? I was working the deck of an oil tanker at 18 married and had and apartment before 21 !
