For all of Mr. Sowell’s wisdom, I think he’s missing something here. Eugenics may be junk science, by that’s besides the point. Non-whites breed at such a rate that Planned Parenthood only makes a dent in the problem.. and the problem is fertility rates and unrestrained reproduction among dark faces with 80ish IQs. What works in sub-Saharan Africa does not work in the USA.
On another note, the first half of this excellent Corbett piece really sums up Eugenics and Environmentalism (both funded and coopted by by Big Oil).
I am apt to agree. My head is still spinning from watching your video. And has kept me from all of Sunday’s posts. I still have a bunch of catching up on our krewe of kastaways.
I once read research that claimed the easy availability of abortions led to a subsequent lowering of crimes. The thesis was unwanted children would become more prone to criminal behaviors. Their statistics bore out their premise. Social science does provide guidance for policy.
Abortion will always be an option. For medical purposes is an option hard to deny.
The notion of valuing a new life for the group, tribe, clan, kine, is understandable as a genetic advantage. And you want the best progeny, this instinct hardwired, especially in women. I can only imagine this is how the tradition of the king kahuna mates with very willing females (or unwilling) of his choice. And those offspring tend to thrive. We are millennia from those instinctual realities saved some very old societies stuck in
chauvinistic and bigoted traditions. There is basis for those behaviors mired in our genes. And not all of those consequences of evolution are worthless or invalid, just out dated
Euthanasia is generally acceptable as a concept in special situations. I grant that.
Valuing all human life prevents casual eugenic and genocidal efforts. Many have tried, many succeeded. There is no peace without constraint of it, no final solution, no final management though many vie for it-as illustrated in the above video. Many use religious reasons, divine rights and moral superiority/intellectual elitism as reason to discount (or exterminate) other groups. We all are useful minions to something. How we are organized is the challenge. And how we are educated. I do not wish to be an artful dodger of reality. I wish to artfully display my truths for imitation or acceptance.
Grist for this mill is contained in the book and movie Children of Men. The central theme of the movie deals with fertility and the values that come and go with reproduction rates.
The dystopia movie is action packed with violence born of a world-wide, zero birthrate as depicted in the British Isles/London I have only watched the movie, several times but not read the book which has this description on Wiki.
“The novel opens with the first entry in Theo’s diary. It is the year 2021; but the novel’s events have their origin in 1995, which is referred to as “Year Omega”. In 1994, the sperm count of human males plummeted to zero, and mankind now faces imminent extinction. A consequence of globalism winning over villageism certainly devalues much of human life. Diversity of thought about the issues is/are being controlled for motives murky and more and more nefarious as you delve deep past those who are asleep or are sheep. Herd them with what they heard on the news, revamped from the olds. But still a war on the fodder??? This is why I bother to comment and kvetch. I know, this is all a stretch. It is a show I want to catch. How about you?

ps I see a bit of i forget in myself, especially today. I bet he was banned for non contribution to the mission. He was an entertaining distraction. I hope he is well.

Are we not experiencing a world wide population explosion that is threatening the biosphere?
Consider some of the problems we are now facing due to this out of control population explosion: Depletion of natural resources. Lack of space in the cities for new housing. Rapid depletion of fresh water supplies.
With the out of control sexual appetite of the masses producing babies like rabbits perhaps Planned Parenthood is a good idea.
We have to get out of our head that human beings are responsible creatures. We are not. The problems we have today demonstrate this lack of responsibility in our societies.
Planned parenthood seems to be addressing this problem in ways that are objectionable to many that put a moral spin on their methods. Do these same people consider the amoral consequences of damaging the biosphere due to this out of control population explosion? No they don’t.
Let’s consider something else here that is contributing to the deterioration of our species. With our advances in medicine we are now saving many babies with medical problems that would in the past die at birth. These infants then grow up with medical conditions and mate with healthy individuals producing strains of weak humans thus tainting the gene pool. What is moral about that? Is this not insanity to let this happen?
We do not want to face our problems because facing them would inform us that we are the cause of them. But those who choose to find solutions may not demonstrate methods that are acceptable to hypocrite moralists that have no solutions.
Planned parenthood serves a needed purpose to control an out of control population explosion that is consuming the biosphere like a cancer.
Don’t like the method then find a better one; like sexual responsibility, but don’t fight the present methods until a better one is found and implemented.
