This Is the U.S. State with the Most Psychopaths

Everyone knows the old saying that the quiet ones are the most dangerous. But how true is it, really? According to one new study, it’s pretty accurate—at least as far as American states go. That’s right. The state with the most psychopathic residents is also one of the most under-the-radar.

So just where will you want to watch your back? Connecticut. The tiny northeastern state ranked number one on Southern Methodist University professor Ryan Murphy’s research-backed list of the most psychopathic states in the country. California, New Jersey, New York, and Wyoming filled out the top five. If you live in one of these states, make sure you know the 13 signs you’re dealing with a psychopath.

To find these results, researchers relied on previous surveys that established the levels of the big five personality traits (extroversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness to experience) in each state. They found which of the big five personality traits were most common in psychopaths and created a calculation to give each state a score.

Currently, the study has only been prepublished, meaning it is not published in a journal nor has it undergone peer review. However, according to previous published research, psychopaths often show traits like disinhibition, boldness, and meanness. “Boldness corresponds to low neuroticism and high extraversion, meanness corresponds to low agreeableness, and disinhibition corresponds to low conscientiousness,’ Murphy told Quartz. Now that you know how the scores were calculated, check out the full list.

42. Montana
43. Oklahoma
44. New Mexico
45. North Carolina
46. Tennessee
47. Vermont
48. West Virginia

As you can see, there seems to be a high concentration of psychopaths in the northeast. And if the research holds up, you’re probably safest in the south.

They obviously forgot to look into Wash DC. While not a state, I’m sure there is more of em’ there than any other state.

I sometimes consider myself a harmless psychopath. The joke goes that the neurotic knows one plus one equals two but is pissed about it. The psychopath believes one plus one equals three.

Having talked to Ted Bundy face to face I can see many of the “13 signs” in our brief encounter. And understand how some people are hard wired towards no empathic constraints. I met a few more while I spent three months in treatment. Many are identified by early interventions; and persistent institutional and correctional exposures. One that stands out was a 30 something male from a wealthy family. The shrinks said he would be trouble from the time he was pre teen. He had been to many treatment centers across the US. I shared an apartment with him and rode with him often to nightly meetings and daily structured group therapy sessions . Again, the “13 signs” were evident. His struggle was real.

I found this viddy quite informative and it explains and connects many commonalities of:
Narcissists, Psychopaths and Sociopaths

The comment section in blogs is like a box of chocolates. Every now and then you might get a chocolate-covered cherry.
That said, I once met G. Gordon Liddy in person. Nothing like his radio personality. He was in public with his family. We chatted, he was quiet and reserved … even cordial.
I read his autobiography as kid and knew what he really was about. Long before he was a convict, burglar, and bagman he was a Fordham law school graduate. He once lived in NJ.
hmmm….

when I was in college, post military service, I met and interviewed Captain McGonagle from USS Liberty fame. I didn’t know who he was at the time, but certainly knew a medal of honor when I saw one, so bee-lined to meet him. the news article I submitted was not considered newsworthy but i retained the cassette tape of our discussion.

I considered transcribing it, but it was poorly done and scratchy and since I didn’t KNOW the attack had nothing to do with Vietnam and everything to do with “other influences” there wasn’t much on there worth regurgitating.

There were a couple of gems though, which I shared here. If I could turn back time….

I married a New Hampshire psycho while in usaf, but only for 5 years. Got out relatively unscathed.

Amusing how the top states are some of the leading proponents of gun control. Notice that?
Removing the ultimate means of terminating immoral or lawless behavior is sharply understood by those who prefer victims incapable of defending themselves.

The most psychopathic states voted for Hillary, their natural-born leader.

I knew a guy one time and then I deduced that he was a psychopath. It takes a while to figure one out but I’ll tell you one dead ringer way to tell if a person is a psychopath- if real bad things happen in their lives along the lines of the loss of a what should be a loved one, whether it be family or romantic, and you NEVER see them cry, then that person is psychopath.

Phycopaths are usually the people in charge. They seek positions of power. Some of the professions with the most phycopaths are Politicians, CEO;s, Law Enforcement, Military, and Government Bueracracies.
They can be very charming when they want to be, but inside have no compassion for others. They will do or say anything to achive their goals. Not all phycopaths are after money, some enjoy the power of victimising other humans. Some phycopaths get high off hurting others, physically and mentally.
