Y’gotta hand it to the Dems. Just as the Kavanaugh confirmation was headed for a vote, they hijacked the proceedings and made their dog-‘n-pig show not only the Most Important news story, but the only important news story.

I shall let Aesop at Raconteur Report sum up the general disgust for the Kavanaugh inquisition, excerpting from his essay, The Democrat Party Is A Terrorist Organization, And An Enemy Of The Republic:

They have deliberately, consciously, repeatedly, and conspiratorially acted with nothing else but pure and undisguised malice aforethought, with reckless disregard for truth, honor, or respect for the institutions they are sworn to protect and serve, and with the vilest contempt for the people they were elected to represent. In short, they have moved from mere petty partisan bickering to full-throated lawlessness and indecency.

Aesop’s description is, as always, spot on. Alas, his notion of visiting righteous retribution upon these vile miscreants, a fate both earned and viscerally satisfying, is not realistic. Yes, we have the power to throw the bums out but it’s a latent power with a perpetually bright future.

For one, the entire electorate has been “marginalized”. Did DC request our approval for endless wars, unrestricted immigration, affirmative action, same sex marriage, bank bailouts, ObamaCare? Or did DC request approval from itself? Call it what it is, Government by Announcement.

Even if a day of reckoning arrives it’s unlikely to be one of our choosing. Like everything else of actual importance, it will burst on us like a sudden downpour, unbidden and unexpected. The list of survivors will be lengthy if not all inclusive. Specifics of how it all went down will be uncovered and argued generations later, to the interest of no one save antiquarians.

I see myself and my fellow peasants shivering in the dark ‘n cold looking into the palace through a side window to watch dukes and barons in splendorific comfort nibble at pastry and sip exotic Choco Lat from the New World. They strut. They pose. They make grand statements with clever asides and sweeping gestures. It’s all quite thrilling.

Some of my fellow Deplorables root for the guy in fashionable attire for his fiery manner, others prefer the stately greybeard for his measured words and gentle wit. From time to time we applaud or mutter dissent, then chatter among ourselves. But the hour grows late, the nightly chores not yet done. Our civic duty fulfilled, we drift away as we arrived. Unnoticed.

Aesop also commented on the tormentors of Judge Kavanaugh in his essay, Squadron Property And Cultural Rubicons, at Raconteur Report. Excerpts:

They have decided that only now, lacking anything else to try to stop the president from executing the duties of his office and filling a Supreme Court vacancy, this is the time to go all-in on gutting eight centuries of jurisprudence in place since Magna Carta, and doing it overnight.

When you try to do the same thing to half of society, expecting it’ll stop anywhere short of heads on pikes is a pipe dream… This effort is nothing less than the permanent Othering of the entire species of soy-free meat-eating conservative males.

This is the Left finally working themselves up to the frenzy of a Kristallnacht.

And there’s only one answer to that sort of cultural jihad: Challenge accepted.

Again Aesop gets it right. The late 1960s with its murders and bombings and arson, the golden age of the New Left as they styled themselves, has come and gone. Full on engagement is not a viable option in the late 20-teens. Too many trained and eager trigger fingers out there.
