Sharing With Them Our Thoughts

My husband and I had a discussion tonight I think you’ll enjoy. I tried to watch the news and realized that all the women on the newscasts, but local and national, were dressed in brightly colored sleeveless dresses, formfitting and usually with cleavage at least implied, if not glaring. Except the local pregnant weather wench who shows her baby bump and protruding naval some days and it grosses me out! Of course, considering that I have to clean and change a three inch long wound every day, what grosses me out seems to depend upon my willingness to forego the nausea. I will forego it to keep this wound from getting infected again. I will NOT forego it to watch a couple of media whores discussing the visuals of 14 white men in suits questioning Dr. Fraud while they are displaying their sexual natures and biases in the very clothing they choose to array themselves with.

Nick asked me why it is that the women can be so obviously sexual in their attire, with cleavage deeply displayed or clothing form fitting to the point of craziness. And then, they can claim sexual harassment when someone’s glance falls to their boobage hanging out of their shirt. And as for the formfitting pants and very short skirts? Well, there is a time and a place for that sort of attire. The news is not one of them. And, by the way, some people should not EVER be allowed to wear leggings or spandex.

I told Nick I don’t get it at all. He knows that I absolutely loved to wear suits when I was in the professional line of government work. I had several really nice sports coats, feminine and many, many nice suits. I was NOT a “travelling pantsuit” kind of broad. I liked to wear nice slacks with a variety of blazers and sweater jackets. I liked being professional but womanly. I think I managed it most of the time. I tell myself that and it helps, anyway. But I did know the types who opened the extra button on the blouse or let the skirt hike up the leg at the meeting. Since I worked on the PM team at Tinker, the stories I could tell. But, why? That was almost twenty years ago. Who needs to dredge that up?

But, why Megan Kelly had to interview Putin dressed not unlike a high dollar hooker (in my opinion… c’mon? A SLIT up the side of your little black dress?) and why that woman who once worked with Matt Lauer of hashtag him too fame wears those ridiculously brightly colored dresses all the time eludes me.

What sickens me to the point I cannot watch them any longer is how absolutely HYPOCRITICAL (or shall I coin Hypocuntical?) it is for the women to act all empathetic and sympathetic on the basis of having been inappropriately touched or “harassed” in their lives.

So. The. Fuck. What.

Get on with your life. Any of us can rewrite our own history to include a few more hard swats from Mom or Dad, justifying an abuse charge. Or we can tell about the dirty old man at the gas station who always tried to rub himself against us when offering to check our oil or check the tires. Hell, if I went back 35 years, I might be able to really do some damage to a few people who have at least walked through some pretty secure doors at the Pentagon a time or two. Hell, I’ve probably got interesting pictures of someone in Saudi or Iceland or Germany or Puerto Rico… but so what? Did they go on to live a life as a mature and responsible adult? It appears so. Why would I fuck with that?

I hope this rant made sense. Or that if it did NOT, you ignored it by turning off your replies. Which I quite often do.
