R.I.P Mr. World Famous Kisser

Other than the “Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima”, the photograph below (by photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt)  just may be the most iconic of all WII pictures.

us kissing sailor george mendonsa dies aged 95

His name is George Mendonsa, and he just died Monday at the age of 95. Here is the short  backstory to that world famous picture.

The woman he kissed is Greta Zimmer Friedman (she died in 2016, age 92). She was a dental assistant in a nurse’s uniform who’d never met Mendonsa when he suddenly locked lips with her at the Crossroads of the World.  She fled her homeland of Austria at 15 during the war, and said the kiss came out of nowhere; —– “The guy just came over and kissed or grabbed. It was just somebody really celebrating. But it wasn’t a romantic event.

Mendonsa was on leave from a destroyer at the time.  He was actually on a first date with another woman, Rita Petry (she’s one of the little heads in the background).  Mendonsa said; —  “I saw what those nurses did that day and now back in Times Square the war ends, a few drinks, so I grabbed the nurse. I had a few drinks, and it was just plain instinct, I guess. I just grabbed her.

Here is Mr. Mendonsa in 2012 holding that iconic photo of him and Geta.

.

This is not the end of the story.

File this under “Proof That We Americans Truly Live In Fucked Up Times!” — because Time Magazine wrote  THIS    in 2014;

“It’s worth noting that many people view the photo as little more than the documentation of a very public sexual assault, and not something to be celebrated.”

Time Magazine … a shit rag for libtard snowflakes which is offended by everything, and which exists in a permanent state of rewriting history because of us Deplorables.

It’s also worth noting that many people recognize Time magazine as utterly fucking useless, never to be considered again as a reliable publication, worthy of nothing more than color glossy photos of garbage advertising, and arrogant fake journalistic writing by people who still think they matter. They don’t.
I wouldn’t insult my parrot, by laying pages of that rag on the bottom of his cage.
Its pages are already full of piss and mounds of shit, unable to absorb any more.
NYT or WaPo.
With pictures of the elites to shit on, then mail it to their offices.

Most Americans alive today would have to stand on their mothers’ shoulders just to kiss this generation’s collective ass. Godspeed sailor.

Women used to be so much more than they are today.

Sad thing is, that kiss would be a Class A Misdemeanor or worse nowadays.
