Six common themes unite the Jussie Smollett and college admissions scandals

Hat tip P2

Guest Post by Thomas Lifson

Hollywood elites are, by definition, in the business of concocting fictional stories. Is it any surprise that they apply these skill sets beyond screen and stage entertainment, where the fiction is acknowledged, and use them to achieve their objectives in realms affecting their personal and political lives?

In both the college admissions scandal and the alleged hate crime fraud masterminded (I use the term very loosely) by Jussie Smollett, I see five other common points in addition to the first point of employing fiction:

Winter for the Ruling Class (Yale University – photo credit Maxpixel)

Two: Powerful people from powerful families with no concern for issues of right and wrong, tried to accomplish their goals “by any means necessary.”  Religion — the notion the God watches over us and knows when we sin – is regarded as a quaint vestige of the past, and a hindrance to achieving necessary ends, both personal and political.

Three: Wealth enables payoffs. Most people cannot conceive of lavishing thousands of dollars, much less hundreds of thousands or even millions, on bribes because they earn their money through hard work. But such are the rewards of stardom or business success that once liberated from concerns over morality (see point one), there is no problem in offering whatever it takes ($3500 for a couple of Nigerian brothers, or millions to a college official to get the desired behavior.

Four: The notion that “laws are for the little people” is widespread, from Hillary Clinton’s exoneration by James Comey (and according to the recently-released testimony of Lisa Page, the Department of Justice), to state and local level officials who escape mundane concerns such as speed limits.

Five: Utter indifference to the victims of their fraud. Jussie Smollett remained silent as the Chicago Police investigated possible miscreants, who could well have had their lives ruined if prosecuted for the phony hate crime. I suspect that most of the parents and children admitted to elite schools never once thought about the hard-working kids who did not get the longed-for acceptance letters they got through fraud. They matter so little that they don’t ever merit consideration when planning the crimes.

Six: Despite all of the above, virtue-signaling remains a favorite pastime. Smollett’s now-infamous interview with Robin Roberts was a non-stop festival of moral preening (as a victim), while at least some of the Hollywood and business elites implicated in the college admissions scandal used their wealth for “donations”  to a tax-deductible foundation established by the consultant, while others donated directly to the universities.

I suspect there are other similarities between the two scandals, because they both reveal that our ruling class is far more corrupt and cynical than most Americans ever realized.

Note: I am indebted to my friend Mike Nadler for originally pointing out the compariosn between the two scandals. But repsonsibiity for any inadequacies and errors rests solely with me.

If you care to know when and where this corruption begin watch
The Prophecy Club : The New World Order ( By Ralph Epperson ) on YouTube. One of the best I have seen at explaining our fucked up situation .
From what I have learned this is right on everything. I used to have great respect for our founding fathers . Now I know they were some of the most corrupted most vile son of a bitches of their time. They were nothing but liars and decivers . At least 23 out of the 39 who signed the Constitution . They knew what they were doing . This nation has never been a republic . Only in their lies. Think I’m being to hard then watch the program. Then pay attention to Art 1, sec 8 ,cl.17 of that part of the Constitution .

After learning 9/11 was mass murder by neo cons in our government plus the government of Israel and learning all this and more about our so called founding fathers ( I piss on their Graves ) it wouldn’t matter now if this nation burns to the damn ground . I have never been so disgusted in my life. Everything we have been told is a lie . Everything .The only thing I have left that is true is the Bible and Jesus Christ. Even the damn money I have in my pocket is based on lies. Get my point .

And the ‘tradition’ continues !

follow the money

annuit coeptis novus ordo seclorum-

“When our founders declared a new order of the ages….they were acting on an ancient hope that is meant TO BE fulfilled” U.S. President George W. Bush, Jan. 20, 2005 second inaugural address.

Yale is for brainiacs like George W. Bush. I’ll bet his academic creds is what got him in (sarc off)

Only thing Mao got right… close the universities and force the administrators and professors to work in the rice paddies.

bs article–
the parents gaming the system is no comparison to smollet–
the real bs is that they didn’t play by the rules, but the rules screw the little guy so who cares?
i was talking to my daughter this am & we were talking about this case–when i brought up what bs legacy admissions are,she mentioned several of the girls she went to hs with who are attending the u of fla. & how they weren’t such great students but they had at least one parent who graduated from uf–
on the other hand, another friend of hers who was a much better student than those girls was on a standby basis until a slot opened up because neither of his parents went to college, much less uf–
if i had the $ to game the system i’d sure as hell do it to help my kid–

i won’t judge the academics but many popular state schools across the nation don’t have nearly enough slots for the # of applicants–

Because, duh, they admit too many undeserving students. Said another way: the honchos have somewhat of an understanding of supply and demand-at least when it furthers their cause and helps keep tuition rates high.

I’m not here to cover for the elites, but never forget that affirmative action and diversity are the deceptive ways to cheat your way into jobs, promotions and higher education. And, the numbers are a million times greater. Think about it.

I figured it was like this all along. I once knew a biker who belonged to club and he talked about how everyone had a really expensive (jew lawyer, his words) on retainer. The got busted for all kinds of crazy stuff and that lawyer and money would get them off. Funny how much two groups affect the country. The weirdos in Hollywood and the crooks in DC. They all get off from stuff also.

People should be asking why the parents would have to go to such desperate measures.

The natural outcome of corrupt behavior of the political class is increased corruption and lawlessness of the rest of the population.

There you go, one sentence to bind them all.
