As a society we appear to be really dropping the ball, because the numbers indicate that American boys are deeply struggling in just about every area.
Many professionals are pointing to a “crisis of fatherhood” as one of the key factors, and as I pointed out the other day, approximately a third of all U.S. children are now being raised in a home without a father. Of course this negatively affects our girls as well, but there is something about that lack of a masculine role model that seems to particularly hurt boys. However, the lack of a traditional family structure cannot explain all of the numbers that I am about to share with you. As you will see, we are facing a crisis that will not easily be solved.
Warren Farrell, the co-author of a new book entitled “The Boy Crisis: Why Our Boys Are Struggling and What We Can Do About It”, has identified three key areas that he is most concerned about.
The first is education…
It is a crisis of education. Worldwide, 60% of the students who achieve less than the baseline level of proficiency in any of the three core subjects of the Program for the International Assessment are boys. Even boys’ IQs are dropping.
Today, girls are educationally outperforming boys in elementary school, middle school and high school.
And by the time college rolls around, the performance gap is absolutely enormous. In fact, females have earned at least 57 percent of all bachelor’s degrees in the United States for 18 years in a row.
The second area Farrell is deeply concerned about is mental health…
It is a crisis of mental health. Boys’ suicide rate goes from only slightly more than girls before age 14 to three times that of girls’ between 15 and 19, to 4 1/2 times that of girls between 20 and 24. Mass shooters, prisoners and Islamic State terrorism recruits are at least 90% male.
In addition to all of that, males commit 90 percent of all homicides in the United States, and men lead women by a very wide margin in just about every other violent crime category as well.
This is one area where the lack of a father in the home really seems to make a difference. According to one very alarming study, when there is a 1 percent increase in fatherlessness in a neighborhood, on average it leads to a 3 percent rise in adolescent violence.
Sadly, it appears that our young people are steadily becoming unhappier over time. The following numbers come from the Free Beacon…
Recent years have seen a rise in Americans 12 to 25 saying they are unhappy. Since 2012, the proportion of 8th and 10th graders who tell the Monitoring the Future survey that they felt unhappy has crept up from 13 percent to 18 percent. In roughly the same time, the proportion of 18- to 25-year-olds who say they are unhappy has risen from 11 to 17 percent, according to the General Social Survey.
And as I pointed out in one recent article, other studies have found a clear link between unhappiness and social media use.
The Internet can be used for great good, but it can also be heavily toxic, and today many of our young people are “plugged in” almost constantly…
Essentially 100 percent of 18- to 24-year-olds are on social media. Fifty-four percent think they spend too much time on their cellphone; 72 percent of teens say their phone is sometimes the first thing they look at upon waking up.
This, Twenge argues in her book iGen, explains a lot about why they are unhappy. Using several national surveys, Twenge argues that screen-using activities are linked to indicators of depression and unhappiness. For example, she finds that kids using devices more than three hours a day are 30 percent more likely to have an indicator of suicidality.
The third major area that Farrell is deeply concerned about is physical health…
It is a crisis of physical health. American men’s life expectancy has decreased two-tenths of a year even as American women’s has remained the same. Boys and men are dying earlier in 14 out of 15 of the leading causes of death.
Overall, men are living 4.9 years less than women in the United States.
One thing that would help would be to encourage our young men to avoid engaging in extremely risky behavior. Young males tend to get hooked on drugs and alcohol at much higher rates than young females, and one recent study found that an alarming percentage of our boys are having sex before they reach the age of 13. Talking to your children about sex can be awkward, but new research suggests that parents need to have those conversations much earlier than they do.
In two national surveys, investigators found that between 4% and 8% of boys reported having sex before they were 13. That number varied greatly depending on where the boys lived. In San Francisco, just 5% of boys said they had sex before 13, but in Memphis that number jumped to 25%.
Can that number for Memphis possibly be accurate?
I certainly hope not.
Unfortunately, it is not just in the United States where boys are falling behind. If you can believe it, boys are educationally behind girls in each of the 63 largest developed nations.
The world has changed, and it appears to be leaving boys behind.
But what is going to happen when all of those boys grow up?
The young people of today are the future, and right now that future is not looking very promising at all.

Home schooling is the answer. We home schooled our daughter, best thing we ever did.
Both my wife and I have advanced degrees. Today, college isn’t worth much. A lot of useless Liberal Arts Degrees – like ‘design your own degree’ or any degree that ends in ‘Studies’.
Most of the STEM degrees still go to men.
Womyn have emasculated boys since the 60’s with skool, drugs, the culture and more. Look at the clothes boys are dressed in, the ridiculous hair cuts, some can’t be distinguished btw girls. Boys still tend to be physically and spatially oriented and skilled. Yet, a great majority of academia no longer finds this useful, outside a few math-centric disciplines. Humans in general were meant to use their hands for work, and we have alot of dopamine pathways that respond to this type of work. Sedentary mind focused work alone just doesn’t work out well psychologically for people in general, but especially males. Then you have the reduction in need for alot of labor focused jobs, with machines and globalization. Then you have illegal immigration and immigration suppressing wages of many of the construction jobs men used to be able to make a good living at.
So there is a perfect storm of biological, and work roles, and loss of income to work against the more typical male. Socially males lose out on socialization as their work roles are diminished, and those that aren’t academically oriented struggle to find self-worth and meaning/purpose often times when faced with few options for work or low pay rates. Of course you have the not so hidden messages now ideas demeaning males as toxic. Demeaning men as all potential rapists, or part of the patriarchy. Inner city males in poverty regions almost all have few male role models around, since so many are in prison. Gangs fill the void here for alot of them, a means to gain a sense of pride/power despite the need to do evil acts to fit in. This stuff has being growing at least since the late 70’s, but seemed to have really taken off in the 90’s. Men are now often told they have to apologize for being male, or acting in a more typical male manner. For those that believe this stuff they become beta males at best, or hopeless and self-loathing. For those that don’t its just another thing to make them angry at the modern world and those that endlessly badmouth someone for the randomness of their birth.
I don’t see this problem going away anytime soon. It would be good if the trades were pushed, since the dirty jobs w/ training are in demand and pay well in alot of places. That could help the smarter males out at least. The not so smart guys that have a good work ethic and excel at physically oriented jobs, often are stuck working labor jobs that don’t pay that well anymore, yet still risk life and limb and take a heavy toll on their bodies. Not too easy to be a roofer in your 50’s, unless you by some miracle never got injured. Hopefully woman start waking up, you need men to fix the roof, repair power lines, and yes to save people. Firewoman aren’t going to be a thing, we don’t even have enough strong healthy men left, and almost no woman is carrying a 250lbs person out of a fire, let alone a 150lb person.
We always need construction equipment drivers. Dump trucks, skidderz, excavators, telehandlers(need one now, starts at 35 per hour), dozers, FEL drivers(22 hr start tomorrow), and no one is learning these skills because no one teaches it and no one knows how much money is to be made. We have had ads up hiring for literally years. Good experienced carpenters and concrete guys with no experience and a strong back. Where are you? A strong imbecile can make serious money on concrete flatwork. Pull a rake for 22 to start. Form setters at 26 to start. Our crew averages 35 an hour right now, and two of your hours are riding in the truck every day. I forgot what my original comment once i started this diatribe. Coordinating a saturday pour while two guys short, and no one endorsed to drive the fuel truck. I just want to go back to driving. All this responsibility is killing me.
A big problem is that the sheeple have been brainwashed into thinking that these skill-based jobs are not socially acceptable and that college is the preferred route no matter their kid’s aptitude or ability. So much of it is about feeding the parent’s ego and status and not best preparing their child for the future. This became glaringly obvious with the recent celebrity college cheating scandal. It is a complete abdication of parental responsibility to not tailor career advice to your own child’s particular needs to ensure a successful, self-supporting future.

Most trades don’t even have an official apprenticeship program where a young average joe can apply to start. The only one that I know exists is commercial truck driving. Everything else in all things trades is based on who you know, not what you know where only family or friends get hired. Plus, all these fucking places have affirmative action quotas = white man need not apply.
Ninety percent of the workers around here aren’t white, they’re of the brown persuasion.

When i told my buddy about the estrogen in soy milk he stopped giving it to his lactose intollerant son. In a month the kid stopped being such a little fairy and started playing basketball. Depressed sissies are easier to control and browbeat. Teach males to be passive-aggressive rather than assertive and aggressive. This seems to be the goal, but you can’t stop biology completely with social constructionism. So alot of males go off the rails into self-destruction. Males biologically are geared more toward risk taking, thus making males better suited for dangerous work than females. It’s not merely b/c males are stronger. How many females want to work on powerlines? How many want to be up in a bucket truck with a chainsaw during an icestorm trying to get the power back on? How about close to zero. Even the fancy modern world needs men, the country needs more men who act like men used to, not less. The soyboy phone addicts won’t keep the lights on. And the Feminists are certainly not going to do it. They can be loud, but they need men for civlization. And they would need men if civilization failed. The goal is to be complimentary and not beat men into some sort of weak kneed submission, where they wander around aimlessly apologizing for being born male.
It’s amazing how so many teenage boys today have little man boobs. They look like genetic hybrids between prepubescent girls and elderly men. And act like it too.
They sit. They don’t do manual or physical work of any kind. They are soft and flabby. Look around at all the flabby people, not just young men. The tragedy is how weak of a nation we have become. I’m in better shape at my advanced age than many younguns and I ain’t in great shape, but better than many.
The schools don’t discipline kids and they dumb them all down. My kids tell me the whole gang banger/thug thinking causes a lot of problems. Many kids come from homes with dumbass parents who like this thug lifestyle.
So why are your kids still in government schools?

And does teenage nookie really have any correlation to boys falling behind women in so-called development? Pretty sure teens were having sex generations ago and the only difference was if you had an accident you were expected to man-up and marry the girl.
I’d also challenge to find anytime where statistically more women committed suicide than men. It’s in men’s DNA to get the job done. Not many women eat a bullet but plenty will slit a wrist…something that is much easier to be remedied if caught in due time. And life expectancy going down? Ok, I’ll toss in two cents worth regarding the why. Nookie was great but it was mostly straight nookie, now the push is for ‘gender fluid’ nookie and boys can do boys and vice versa and that’s A-ok.
As to straight nookie? Who wants to stick their dick in crazy which is what most young women are today? Who wants to become a victim of a male bashing system by having sex with a woman who first consents and then recants and cries rape? Who wants to be forced to raise another man’s child? Courts have said that a man must support a child that isn’t his. Who wants to father children and then get divorced and have to support them, the mother and not be allowed to see the kids?
It’s happening because Progressivism and Identity Politics and Marxism being pushed as the system that people should live under. It’s happening because the two party system is merely two sides of the same coin, it’s happening because democrats have now openly become communists and it’s happening because God has been subsumed and consumed by the State.
