RIP RIC OKASEK

Everyone knows deaths come in threes. Two iconic 1970s rock and rollers have died in the last couple days. Who’s next?

RIP Ric.

I’ll never forget the first time I heard “Goodtimes Roll”. It was during the summer at my high-school buddy’s house. His brother was home from college, had a kick-ass system, and cranked it at near full volume.

Now, as for the third one? Well, let’s see. First went Money, then the lead singer for The Cars. Generally speaking, cars are the second largest expenditure for most American households.

So what does that leave? Obviously, the largest expenditure for most American households: The house.

Therefore, perhaps number 3 could be Eric Burdon who, I believe is now approaching 80 years of age. He was the lead singer for The Animals who sang “The House of the Rising Sun”.

Or, it could be David Byrne, the lead singer of The Talking Heads who sung “Burning Down the House”. I believe Byrne is in his upper 60s now?

Because when Money is gone, The Cars get repossessed and the house gets foreclosed. And usually in that order.

Or not.

Creative. I liked it, Unpredictable.

I jumped the gun, and followed MGs lead about Ocasek on the Moneyman’s thread.

Always liked The Dangerous Type. Even posted it here a few months back, underneath a hottie’s photo on a FF.

Used to crank volume up high and listen to The Cars “Stranger Eyes”, back in me late 20’s when equalizer amps were the rage in car audio, before subwoofers and crossovers started getting installed.

That, followed immediately after by Moving In Stereo / All Mixed Up, made up one side of a cassette.
These 2 should always play together, and not be split by DJs.

Like EJ’s Funeral For A Friend segues into Love Lies Bleeding;
Journey has a combo two like that, as does Seger, J. Geils, and more.
