The taxpayers of Las Vegas, Nevada may be on the hook for $7 million dollars after armed government workers gratuitously shot a disoriented woman seven times for wandering toward them while dragging a gardening shovel.
The AGWs – in full battle dress – claim the doughy, middle-aged woman constituted a “threat to their safety” and they opened up on her.
She survived – and is now suing the city for $7 million, one million for each bullet she absorbed. If she wins her case, the taxpayers – who didn’t shoot anyone – will get to pay the freight.
It’s a miracle (and testimony about the poor marksmanship of AGWs) that she is alive to sue anyone.
Back when we had cops instead of AGWs, one of them would have just grabbed the shovel and that would have been the end of it. A grown man who can’t handle a middle-aged woman with a shovel without using a gun . . . seven times is someone who has no business anywhere near a gun.
We’ve been anesthetized to this sort of thing by its almost daily occurrence – but that only makes it more horrible. Once upon a time, there would have been national outrage over a single atrocity such as this.
Few seem to care anymore because the pathological has been “normalized.” We had a clinical psychopath as president for eight years.
And now we’ve become used to it.
Which makes us pathological, too.

If you look at the video you’ll see it’s practically pitch dark in a city neighborhood. Plenty of concrete and asphalt around and in a place like Vegas, “yardwork” means re-arranging rocks and cactus. The woman’s a lunatic. She’s lucky to be alive and now wants the public to pay by proxy for the consequences of her behavior.
Sane people would say “lump it, b*tch” but she will probably get a nice payday because the cops didn’t TASE her. If she had gotten killed I think the family would’ve lodged a wrongful death suit, anyway.

There was a similar incident in saginaw michigan some years back. There was a standoff with a mentally impaired and homeless individual for 8hrs. He did have a paring knife at the time in his hand while acting crazy. The issue was he had not hurt anyone. He was confused and disorientated. It seemed to never cross anyone mind that we dart animals to subdue them or net them to subdue them. The cops simply got tired of dealing with it and made the decision to kill him instead. The incident went to court and they found in favor for the family of the man. The city settled out of court for an undisclosed sum. The cops were not held accountable to my knowledge.
You couldn’t pay me enough to be a cop. EVER.
I’ve told my wife honestly, many times, if public order and decency has devolved so badly in what we perceive as “normal times”, just imagine what it will be like when the cops aren’t out there being a buffer against the lunatics who aren’t able to find meds or treatment in a major social crisis.
The solutions may be left to everyone else to deal with. It won’t be some nice ending where someone ends up rich at public expense, either …. more likely the consequences will be summary justice of two 158gr. JHP to the head and being left in the street.
You can see by the “negs” the social workers are out but have no balls to reply to the contrary, or give a reason why.

There are decent people who suffer mental illness. Sometimes it abates and they go on to live reasonably normal lives and sometimes it doesn’t. It can take hold for no known reason and the afflicted are no more at fault than someone who is beset with leukemia. There are cases where cops shoot a mentally ill person who is armed and dangerous and the shooting is justified. We had one last week in Stillwater, MN where they shot a young man who begged to be shot and ran at the cops with a knife. Then there’s this case where a woman is walking along with a snow shovel and some lunatic cop shoots her seven times – and your response is about how hard it is to be a cop? Fuck this cop. He should be in prison.

In this day and age I think anyone that’s in law enforcement or politics is most likely a sociopath or worse. Not long ago the cop would have walked right up to her, took away her “weapon” and threw her drunk ass in the back of a Crown Victoria. Positions of power attract the worse and corrupt the best. WTF is up with getting shot 7 times and not dying? Were they using 9mm’s ?

That would have been true but now there are so many laws and regulations making that solution a career breaker for a beat cop. He’s not a Professional (fill in the blanks), he gave her whiplash and so on.

The only dirty cop ever fired in this town was a city cop caught at a car wreck high on meth with two female dispatchers injured also in the car by a Texas DPS trooper who didn’t let it slide. He still did very little time. All the other drunk, high, and spouse beating cops here just get their crimes covered up.
They should be terminated at the minimum for using obscene force, and tried unto some due process. The bad and irrationally exuberant cops will get their due eventually. I prefer with them , and pray for their benevolence under my breath whenever possible. That’s not to say I haven’t cursed at one from time to time. I can tell you with certainty, the righteous ones are rewarded in Heaven a little extra. It’s a long story, though the purport (reasoning) is that they are wired slightly different than you or I, and in the same line of reasoning of why a cop is never our friend.
Hatred is hatred no matter what verbs , adjectives and pronouns you color your speech with, just as the hunter becomes the hunted (thought). Justice is and angel nearer to god than we cans see (blind) though faith, beckons us to allow for us to serve it’s ideals.

What we need is more laws to prevent walking while in public and then register shovels. Britain registers kitchen knives and look at how safe they are now.

I always think about the mentally ill dude in Phoenix who faced off with cops in the middle of the street with a knife. The cops shot at him over forty times and finally hit him and killed him. It was like a dozen officers. I wondered why they didn’t just beat him with their nightsticks.
Just think, it could be you getting beaten or shot by these cops. You or I go to prison for this stuff. The cops?

Ordinarily, I would assume the cop was wrong, but this one looks like the shoveler was at fault.
Seeing as it was Las Vegas, I assume she was a 3rd rate “service provider” on the strip and she was tripping balls, which is why it would make perfect sense to be out “night gardening.”
The only wrong here is the cops couldn’t finish off their target in 7 hits.
This shit is going to continue until some of these cops face vigilante justice. Hopefully it’ll start with Philip Brailsford.

the cop who got the warrant has now been charged w/murder & multiple other crimes,and one of the cops who was shot by friendly fire was paralyzed–

i believe it makes a difference how many cops were there,one guy by himself at night is very different than a bunch of guys being on scene–
