“What Were We Thinking?”

Authored by Charles Hugh Smith via OfTwoMinds blog,

Will we wonder, what were we thinking? and marvel anew at the madness of crowds?

When we look back on this moment from the vantage of history, what will we think? Will we think how obvious it was that the coronavirus deaths in China were in the tens of thousands rather than the hundreds claimed by authorities?

Will we think how obvious it was that the virus would spread around the globe, wreaking havoc on the global economy and social order, even as the authorities claimed only a handful of cases had arisen outside China?

Will we be amazed at the delusional confidence that the U.S. economy would be untouched by the virus as stock markets quickly soared to new all-time highs while the world’s largest economy ground to a halt in a desperate attempt to close the barn door after the horses had already escaped?

Will we look back at the patently false data being promoted by authorities and wonder why the majority accepted it all as credible?

Will we re-examine all the smartphone videos posted on the web by average people and wonder why all the lies were given more credibility than actual videos?

Will we recall how content that didn’t parrot the approved narrative that everything was under control and the global impact would be near-zero was suppressed, banned, de-platformed or marginalized? Will we wonder at the complacency of all those who accepted this orchestrated suppression with such obedient passivity?

Will we look back at the claim that only twelve people in the entire U.S. had the virus, despite all the direct flights from Wuhan and the tens of thousands of people who’d traveled from China to the U.S. in January, and marvel at our credulity?

Will we look back at the wreckage left in the wake of the coordinated campaign to suppress the facts and lay the responsibility for all the carnage on the authorities who devoted more energy to hiding the realities of the pandemic than to preparing us for the impact?

Will we ponder the incredible grip of mass delusion on the human mind when we recall the confidence that the U.S. economy was invulnerable to the virus and the implosion of China, and the blithe quasi-religious faith that central banks would never let global stock markets decline even 2%?

Will we wonder how the mainstream could watch the Chinese economy shutting down and still remain absolutely confident that the global economy would be untouched as the spot of bother was sure to evaporate in a week or two and all would be restored to pre-virus euphoria?

Will we wonder what were we thinking? and marvel anew at the madness of crowds? Will we wonder why we embraced the delusion so readily, and relive the moment when the gate to reality creaked open? Will we relive our realization that we’d embraced an absurd fantasy floating on a tissue of lies, or will we bury that painful moment of truth?

Dude! We weren’t thinking!

That’s because –
a) We’re politically correct!
b) We’re up to our eyeballs in debt and everything else is subsumed to that debt!
c) We’re up to our eyeballs in bullshit, but man it’s great bullshit!
d) We’re educated, but haven’t learned a damn thing (see b above re. student loans)!
e) We’re being replaced with Diversity if we haven’t already been banished to the trailer park or Section 8 human farm!
f) We’re being emasculated by popular culture and a diet riddled with soy by-products and arsenic ladened vaccines!

But most of all, we were all entertained into submission.

g)most importantly of all,we have no moral courage–
most people would proudly stand up & sacrifice their life to save their family–
however, standing against the tide of popular opinion, whether it be public opinion or the opinions of friends/family takes a different kind of courage & few people have it–

I would settle for collective self-interest courage. Morals are too easily corrupted, as our current situation attests a la Drag Queen Storytime, Sanctuary Cities, transgender agenda, Agenda 21, anthropogenic global warming cult following et cetera (list too long to go any further regarding those insane things that a large segment of our population truly believe to be moral righteousness).

As Neitzsche explained, morals are set by the ruling class and forced upon the ruled to benefit only the ruling class. It just happens that what now benefits the ruling class today has changed, thus the perceived moral upheaval. The Philosopher Kings though time to this day remain absent of empathy and morality. Our eternal predicament is that we somehow expect otherwise.

I have no compunction when it comes to speaking my mind, I don’t hesitate to stand up for the underdog and I will speak truth to power. I also get smacked down alot and get ridiculed by the ignorant. I don’t really care about the actions or thoughts of ignorant fools, they wallow in their folly and will find themselves in dire straits when a crisis happens. They are the useful idiots, the naysayers and the perpetually ignorant. Ignore them and do what you think is the right think to do, follow your eyes and ears rather than what you are told to follow. The truth is there, all you have to do is pay attention.

A few will wonder.
The rest won’t as long as they have a bright screen to look at.

Ditto for the very soon coming Rapture, 7 year tribulation, second coming of Jesus, and that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and NO one can come to the Father but by Him.

That’s a lot of damn questions. The answer is…you do not know. The truth is a slippery wet fish you can never hold on to. It’s like a damn magic trick. The truth is being hoovered up and shut off. I drove by 2 VERY large data centers in Loudoun county Va. not but 30 minutes ago. These buildings are massive. No windows, no visible doors, fences and gates all around them. Almost no cars in the parking lots of these buildings either.

The truth is on lockdown and inside a digital vault. One day these digits stored in whatever will be your master.

That’s the answer to all your questions.

Old Pangloss told the story about a freshman who was aroused by a circle the professor had drawn on the board. He got more excited when he drew a square and lost his composure entirely when the doc drew a triangle. You have a dirty mind, said the instructor. Me? said the freshman, you’re the one drawing the dirty pictures.

What we weren’t thinking was that China spent oodles amassing the science and materials to develop a weapons grade virus and we got it on the cheap just by evacuating infected people we can study to extract the virus and build stockpiles of bio-weapons that we can deploy to eradicate entire cities, we simply send in a carrier, blockade the exits and wait a few weeks. No doubt gman is giddy with excitement waiting to start anew, start fresh if you will, to rebuild Detroit and Baltimore.

The beer broad asked why they didn’t send the Wuhan evacuees to Nebraska. I said there are no medical universities there. She insisted there are, ok, Creighton. However, we now can see they have an infected couple being treated at a San Francisco university hospital, UCSF. There’s the military hospital at Ft Sam Houston that may soon be treating the evacuees sent to Lackland. March AFB is close toUCRiverside.

I would not go so far as to speculate that we somehow managed to sabotage such a program but any smart intelligence agency would take the credit. It’s not like intelligence agencies sit on their thumbs while foreign powers develop weapons of mass destruction. They didn’t let Gerald Bull get too far.
