Kid Rock has refused to close his Nashville bar despite orders from the mayor. So is he (a) an American hero or (b) a despicable spreader of the disease?
ME? I call him a hero because he’s bucking the behemoth system. As I’ve stated previously, I believe this whole virus circus is being blown out of proportion to cover the U.S.’s economic woes.
I don’t believe the virus is as bad as they’re trying to make out. And I believe we shouldn’t be following the lying government’s advice. Rather than being cooped up, we should be out enjoying the sunshine and fresh air.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think the elderly or those with compromised immune systems, including immune-suppressed children, should be out gathering in crowds during the outbreak. I believe they should follow the same advice given during flu outbreaks and nothing more. They can enjoy the sunshine and fresh air in their backyards. But healthy people should go about their business as usual.
Tell me what you think.
Kid Rock Keeps Nashville Bar Open Amid Coronavirus, Despite Mayor’s Order to Close
Kid Rock’s Nashville bar will remain open despite orders by the city mayor to close or limit the number of customers at public gathering places.
On Sunday, Nashville Mayor John Cooper led an emergency meeting of the Metro Nashville Board of Health. After the meeting, Cooper called for restaurants and similar businesses to serve only at 50 percent capacity or to allow no more than 100 customers through the doors.
But Rock’s bar partner, Steve Smith, said he will not follow the city’s edicts, calling it “unconstitutional,” according to popculture.com.
Smith, who also owns The Diner and Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, said he would only follow Cooper’s advice if such a policy were to be handed down by state officials.
“Unless there’s a statewide mandate that directs all bars and restaurants to be closed, the request made by Mayor Cooper is unconstitutional as he is targeting a select group of businesses,” Smith said. “We are compassionate with those who have contracted the COVID-19 coronavirus and all who are helping manage the crisis as the entire world addresses the outbreak. However, a Tootsie’s patron as immediate as last night, mentioned having lived through the polio epidemic and didn’t recall such extreme measures being handed down in history.”

The mayor, who is a Democrat, jumped in with his city-wide shut down after an upset Twitter user posted a photo of a Nashville bar teeming with customers.
“While the rest of us are trying to be responsible in our homes and get this s— over with, THIS?!” the tweet read. “Broadway, you aren’t a hero for staying open.”
While the rest of us are trying to be responsible in our homes and get this shit over with, THIS?! Broadway, you aren’t a hero for staying open. https://t.co/XUqehVhUeR

The political class firmly believes they have the right to pass any and all measures they deem appropriate. They are dead wrong. They have no such right. What they have is their OPINIONS backed up by thugs on their payroll paid for by the good working citizenry of the area extracted from them by force by said thugs or the threat of said thugs.
Why am I an anarchist? Because I understand the above to be the cold hard truth with no attempt made at some PC obfuscation.
“Why am I an anarchist?”
because you have a blind spot with regard to other people.
And you are an apologist for the murderous state. If you shoved your nose up the states ass any further you couldn’t breathe.
Must be a millennial…already started with the personal attacks when he wasn’t agreed with.
Constitutionalist, conservative, libertarian — ok. Anarchist; not so much.
Please read what Government man wrote. By using the word ‘you’, he went after me personally; not my idea. Therefore I reserve the right of self defense. The attack was his and the defense was mine.
Now look at what you did. You had no part in the conversation and decided to put in your 2 cents. You didn’t go after my ideas, you went after me personally and called me a Millenial.
Now I ask you, in all honesty, didn’t you use an ad hominem aimed in my direction when you had no call to do so?
Solutions are Obvious,
You could have reeled in your response to gman, just a tad, don’t you think? He did not attack you but, you did attack him with your response. So, I stand by what I said. You were over the top, you posted in a public forum, I did interject which is done all the time here.
Seriously, and I do say this respectfully, you need to chill a bit and look at your own reaction to someone who challenged your post with a simple statement, and not a personal attack.
I pick my words carefully. When someone wants to psychoanalyze me with an assertion and no proof, I believe I have a right to protest, which is what I did.
You, of course, may comment on anything you like in such a forum. What you may not do is blame me for something you yourself are guilty of and expect to get away with it. Antifa does that, the Dem party does that.
You are the one that used an ad hominem, ignoring the gist of my main post and decided to come after me personally. You then decided, without any proof, to claim something which you can’t possibly know, and that is my anarchistic outlook.
FYI – I’m a boomer, a well educated one. Further I don’t take advice from people I don’t know and who have introduced themselves to me in the fashion you have.
Ok, I’ll acknowledge that I was wrong on the millennial part. I used a big brush that turned out to be incorrect. However, you are still sounding like one and once more, your response to gman sounded like a leftist tactic.
BTW, I’m a boomer too. I start Medicare in just a few weeks so, now you know my age too.
How about if we both just drop it. This is going nowhere fast and, I’m sure the other readers on here don’t care to read or even scroll past this. I’m sorry I interjected, gman is a big boy, I’m sure, and that was up to him to respond so, dully noted. Have a good day!
That blind spot is called selfishness.
Intentionally exposing yourself without due justification potentially exposes others elsewhere.
Oh, the Jebus character assassinations. God + government has this all figured out. We can stop the spread. He control microbes in the wild. I mean, look at these two I just rounded up from muh keyboard. Unfortunately, the disease will adjust humanity for the better as measured by tolerance to COVID-19. Due justification. All consumption requires production. Just press pause. People must die to make room. Sorry. Last thing I want is government picking winners and losers any more. Cull the weak naturally and we’ll get better results.
In S.C., the governor just made bars and restaurants close except for curb-side takeout service and deliveries. Yet, every other business in the state is open. How does that make sense? And that’s the point of the article.
Yes.
“So is he (a) an American hero or (b) a despicable spreader of the disease?”
if his bar was spreading a serious disease like aids or herpes would anyone be shutting him down?
Day 5 of the COVID-19 apocalypse. I have self-quarantined in order to avoid the plague. I ran out of toilet paper over a week ago. I’ve been reduced to using my remaining dress socks and cardboard from the amazon boxes I keep getting in the mail. I knew all these survival/prep books I’ve been buying would come in handy. Unfortunately, there is little food left in the house. Just the leftover chinese food from last week. Normally I’d just go out to eat, but they’ve all been closed in an attempt to contain the virus. Can’t travel, I’ve already siphoned the fuel from my vehicle in anticipation of the coming grid collapse. I’ll be able to start a fire with the fuel, when others are freezing. I’ll subsist on the house plants for now while others fight each other in the streets for their rations. Work keeps calling, asking where the fuck I am. Those poor fools have no idea. They congregate, when we’ve been told to isolate. It’s so hard to be rational while others are not so. The headache and cough keep getting stronger, and my ass is bleeding continuously now. I hope I can make it through the winter. I must survive to vote for Bernie in November. The revolution must live on. A final, bitter test we must overcome in order to implement our utopia. I just hope enough of us have the gumption to see this plague though to the end.
lol…
“It’s so hard to be rational while others are not so.”
an almost universal complaint.
Saxon – that was awesome.
The good news is Winter will officially be here and a couple of days, so you probably will survive winter.
Personally, I just go from the toilet to the shower to get clean. you might want to try that method to ease your bleeding ass.
That was a good response.
I read earlier (here or CTH?) that according to Labcorp and Quest, 98-99% of symptomatic patients tested were negative for covid19. They have the FLU, for God’s sake. It’s FLU season. Lots of sick people, many will die. Happens every year about this time.
Wash your hands, don’t lick any doorknobs, limit contact, quit picking your nose and get the f**K out of the house and get some sunshine and fresh air. You’ve got some time off, use it wisely.
If only the sun would cooperate, we would be in the flower beds and garden.
What is sunshine? Where I live it has truly been doom and GLOOM.
Yes!
I just got back from a walk and heading down to the shore along Lake Michigan for sunset, even though it’s 35 and gusty, being out side is so good for the body and soul.
It definitely is good for you.
So I’m assuming your answer was A? 🙂
VV – I think Kid Rock is a hero for bucking the system, but they will make an example out of him. Wait until the lawyers file lawsuits when people who went to his bar come down with the beer flu, regardless of how many other places they went. It will be doubly bad if they visit a grandparent who contracts the flu and dies.
I would love to see the sun, but it seems like it has been raining here in W TN for the past 3 months. Nobody has been able to work their ground for the gardens and it would take 10 days of sunshine to dry us out enough to till.
Same weather pattern here in NE Georgia too. I’m really tired of it. However, I bet in six months we’ll be crying for some rain.
It seems like every time I go to the grocery store lately it’s raining.
Same here, too, TN. We get 1 or 2 days of sun then 7-10 days of clouds and rain. Farm ponds are full to the brim and soon the Missouri River will flood from the snow melt up river.
M C – Sun came out right after I wrote this and I was out in it for several hours. It felt really good. F/C for tomorrow is thunderstorms and 77, so am might be really good.
All the more reason to allocate a certain number of cells for the slug attorneys.
I hope he’s not made an example of.
And I hope you get some nice sunshine soon. It won’t be long before we’ll all be complaining about the heat.
I just found out my Naturopath has to close their office for 2 weeks and that is tentative. WTF?
KCMO reduced bars and restaurants to 10 people. Now I think they are ordering them to close completely.
I’m on the fence as to whether any of this is necessary but a Naturopath office? I get it. Not a “real” doctor.
A naturopath is more of a real doctor to me than most of the M.D. quacks out there. Closing certain businesses and not others makes absolutely no sense.
Mygirl….3, 2, 1.
Are any Burning Platfomers wearing facemasks all day?
And cut down on my vitamin D absorption rate?
50,000 IU of vitamin D twice a week in the winter (along with K2), and take your damn shirt off in the summer. I love sunburns, they feel so good…
When I was younger, I used to stay up all night so I could lay out in the sun and sleep. Had the best tan. Wasn’t sick at all either.
I have some dust masks that are used while I am sanding and nothing else. I doubt they would stop a bacteria anyway.
It’s CoronaVirus. Two different animals. A virus is not a complete organism, it isn’t even alive, really.
That’s very true.
I think I picked up the last packet of face masks at the Dollar Tree. I wear them when I’m around dusty, dirty places and when the pollen is thru the roof and I have to work outside or when I have to cut grass. Those of you with too much rain? Please, send it to S Central Texas, we need it.
My kids laugh when I pray for the Lord to share the excess rain with those who need it. I grew up in W OK and understand how dry things can be and even a little bit of rain can provide relief.
That’s the type of mask people started buying when medical masks disappeared. Home and construction stores were hit hard. Did you see the picture online of the Chinese woman and her daughter wearing clear jugs with the bottoms cut out over their heads?
I saw that and it reminded me of Dr. No.
Also saw this one https://th.bing.com/th/id/OIP.lcI3uATJpRUvVzYZRB6YSAEsDE?w=300&h=196&c=7&o=5&pid=1.7
That’s just funny. Wonder if they were his wife’s.
I tried to get to the source, but it was behind a pay wall. Evidently, this was an ad by an underwear company.
The Japanese are actually doing this for “protection” and in Indonesia, the government was suggesting it for protecting yourself from volcanic ash.
I have them, but will not wear them until necessary. Right now 10,000 IU of D a day, 4000mg. C, and lots of sunshine when it isn’t raining.
Good plan.
I consume a clove of raw garlic twice a day, everyday.
I also self isolate.
My family and friends thank me for that.
I hear you. I used to work for a dentist who ate garlic at least once a week and he reeked of it when he did. But it’s good for you. Best natural antibiotic.
Oh for Pete’s sake, this is getting silly. HIde in the house? Really? I live surrounded by fields and pasture. My closest human neighbor is an acre from me and next to that are several angus cows and one bull.
If the virus is so deadly that I can’t go out and cut grass or plant potatoes then Molly bar the door. I suppose if you live in a heavily populated area, cheek to jowl and surrounded by other people then, maybe, it would be a good idea to hide in the house but if the virus were so virulent that just breathing the air made you sick then there would be people dropping like flies.
I’ve been griefing people who think the virus is a nothing burger, and catching hell for it (tough titty) but I am also afflicted with common sense. I’m not out running around crowds, I’ve pretty much self-quarantined and won’t venture forth unless I have to. Living in the country I have a ton of work to take care of around the house and I really don’t care to be around crowds and loud noises anyways.
That fresh air and sunshine is the best thing you can obtain. Wish I lived in the country and had that much space. I live in a small town with a big city unfortunately on one side but country on the other three sides.
Not me. In fact, after working in the medical field, if I see someone in public wearing a mask, my immediate assumption is a Tuberculosis case, but that’s just me, because at the hospital I worked at presumed Tuberculosis patients were immediately masked. (I registered them and they came to me like that.)
But there are some immune-compromised people that do have to wear them. I saw a girl about two months ago at a restaurant that had to wear one. Here mother actually told people why she was wearing it. The girl was on medication that suppressed her immune system.
Pack yourself into bars crowded butt to butt with patrons sneeezing and coughing
over each other? That isn’t courageous, it’s hillbilly stupid. The Nashville numbskulls
can go ahead and do it if they think they’re striking a blow for individual rights, but they’ll
have to explain to their kids why they infected them after returning from a night out at
Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge.
Hillbilly stupid, that sounds like some special kind of stupid.
Hardly ever watch any late night tv, but years ago saw on Jay Leno one of the episodes where he asked a question something to the effect of Where was the Vietnam War Fought?, and lo and behold there was Kid Rock, and he said something really stupid like Korea. This was way before ever heard about him marrying that blond girl from Bay Watch, who caught hep.C from that drummer from Motley Crue, who is another rich idiot. Even his music sucks.
It seems nobody younger than 40 knows history, so there you go.
Ginger…
That drummer was Tommy Lee…and I didn’t know Kid Rock was ever even married. A quick search has Pamela Anderson listed as his only wife-2006-07. Married in July, and she filed for divorce in Nov.
annuit coeptis novus ordo seclorum <<——-== we have turned the corner
Might be better to take nature’s remedy now while the weather is only getting better. Could hit worse this fall. I’m not sure enough goons can work the polls if so.
Does it make sense to close bars and restaurants when other business are allowed to stay open? That’s why they’re saying it’s unconstitutional. You can always self-quarantine if you want to. Forcing specific businesses only to close doesn’t make sense.
I wholly agree with the authors statement, that this virus is being used as cover for the countries financial woes. I gave up quite awhile ago to try and wake the sheep up. However over the past couple of days I have been asking people some pretty basic questions. That any American should know how to ask or answer. Who are these people to dictate how and when your (private) business can and can not be open? Who are these people to commander a (private business) Hotels and motels? Who are these people to make a decision to not allow the public to purchase certain items? Who are these people to tread on ones Life,Liberty, and their pursuit of happiness? I get blank stares and the sound of crickets. What little liberties we had left have just been trampled. All over a virus that has not played out to what the MSM claims to be yet. Our great leaders response…… Send everyone a check!!!!! My God it burns.
“Who are these people to dictate how and when your (private) business can and can not be open?”
humans are social. disease spreads in social conditions, which most people will not give up except in the face of perceived actual threat, which in most cases is too late to have any effect. thus the steps to front-run disease frequently conflict with social interactions and rights, and most governmental systems recognize this and enact rules to enforce these front-running steps. in a healthy government with citizen leaders such steps are limited and temporary to protect and sustain one’s country. in a subverted government with non-citizen leaders such steps are battering rams to gain unlimited and permanent control over the natives.
The question is, should we exercise social distancing and quarantining and business closings to stop it, or should we let people do what they want and associate with who they want and get it over with much quicker? Since it doesn’t affect children and healthy people much, wouldn’t it be better for those that are the most susceptible and at the highest risk to self-quarantine or do the social distancing?
Exactly.
Pot kills Covid 19, you heard it here frist.
Maybe you should have done this post FIRST before partaking in the cure.
So does alcohol, that’s why they will close the liquor stores.
Good point.
COVID-19 is the new CLIMATE CHANGE.
See todays Corbett Report.
THe Kid is a selfish piece of shit! Tell him to go today to do a tour in Italy and then hopefully die!!
Personal freedom. If Kid Rock keeps his bar open, are you forced to go?
“Personal freedom”
if someone’s personal freedom results in you catching a serious disease, do you still support that personal freedom regardless of the cost to you?
This is a major fault line of incompatibility. Blubbering collectivists have no viable purpose except to usher in authoritarian rule. I give Kid credit for some balls.
I never paid attention to Kid Rock until after I had read several articles over the years in which he bucked the system and the Hollywood/music crowd. That’s when I realized the guy had principles and he had balls .
Why is he being selfish when his business and other restaurants and bars are being forced to close yet other business are allowed to stay open?
Control for the sake of control. My parenting becomes your parenting.
We should know within 2 weeks whether he’s a hero or a villain.
In 2 weeks we probably wont be able to post here any more cuz, you know, gotta stop all the misinformation on the interwebz.
Mary Christine, if that happens, I wish all good luck in advance.
is whether he is a hero or a villain dependent on the outcome of his action regardless of its intent, or on its intent regardless of the outcome?
I’ve yet to run into anyone who doesn’t think this is beyond overblown – anarchists, raving liberals, Progressives, school teachers (yeah, that’s redundant), conservatives, etc. Hopefully there will be hell to pay when its over and the truth is exposed….but expect the coverup to be more of what the government concentrates on than anything else.
I wish you were right, but when it is over, TPB will tell us what a great job they did compared to the other countries.
If you complain too much, there will be a bus ticket waiting to take you to the nearest re-education center. Don’t forget to meet at the NW corner on Friday afternoon for FF.
TN
If those are full they will take us to the expedited organ donor camp to await tissue matches.
Free wifi?
Over?! We’ll never get the next load of bailouts off our backs! These structural changes will only worsen. I keep hoping for insurrection.
Same with me. And I still haven’t found anyone who knows someone that’s caught the virus, family, friends, acquaintances, anywhere in the country. Has anyone else?
Hero
Same argument I would have with people in Michigan when our state government made smoking illegal in bars.
If the owner wants to allow smoking in his building that he pays taxes on, and it doesn’t affect business to the point of shutting down, last I knew we were a free country. You don’t like smoke? You don’t want to work in a smoky environment? Last I knew it was a free country and you can move on.
So sick and tired of the same arguments and the belief the government knows best. Every single time there is an economic or health crisis, the government always does the wrong thing, always.
I used to think like that, but I like not having to breathe that shit. I’d back your agenda, but only if it’s across the board. We can’t afford this gravy train. The employment prospects are lacking. It’s not like I can open a non-smoking bar and anyone would go. It’s not like I can do shit really. If we had limited government, I’d be all on board. However, the only way I can win is govery regulation. Fine. Sick of being should-bes Job.
Card802, that was the same argument I had when they did the no-smoking thing in my city. It’s a property rights issue. Even went to the city council meeting to argue against. Of course, it made no difference. Another lesson learned.
Love this one, think I am gonna fit in down south. a) hero.
Great video.
I’m sorry I’m late in replying. It’s been a hectic workday.
That was a good thread to roll thru, VV…….with some good country tune……thanks
annuit coeptis novus ordo seclorum <<——==
Thanks, Ordo. And I’m glad you enjoyed the music the commentators offered.
I was in Tootsie’s many times. Once, in 1984, I was with 3 buddies and a fight broke out between the biggest black guy I have ever seen – prolly 6’7 350 or so – and the biggest Injun who likely has ever walked. He looked to be 6’9” and 400. The big Indian picked up one of those big heavy ass metal chairs with one hand and beat the ever living shit out of the biggest black guy I have ever seen. Beat him with that chair as easy as you and me would swing a flyswatter. Left him bleeding and out cold, and went back to his beer. Bouncers either knew him or were too shit scared to toss him. From what I could tell the black guy screwed with him, and turned out the big Indian had a hair trigger. Bouncers tossed the black guy though when he finally came around.
When I saw that Tootsie’s was mentioned, memories of Nashville and that fight flooded back. I was smiling ear to ear.
