Via The Raconteur Report

Some people think we can do better than China, Italy, or other countries, because of various (mostly stupid, some not, but all fanciful) reasons, or they point to how well South Korea and Japan handled/are handling this outbreak. There’s a reason for that performance.

Nota bene*:

SK has 22 hospital beds per 1000 people.

Japan has 13.4 per 1000.

Italy has 3.2 per 1000.

The US has 2.8 per 1000.

The UK has 2.8 per 1000.

Canada has 2.7 per 1000.

We’re not going to do as well as countries that have 4 to 7 times as many available hospital beds as we have.

To pull off a South Korea, we’d need 6.3M hospital beds, instead of 900K.
And BTW, we couldn’t staff those beds (with doctors, nurses, etc.) in 30 years of WWII full mobilization effort. You’d need another 5M doctors and 10M nurses, which is also 500% more of either than we have right now.

So that’s not going to happen.

We’re going to be, more or less, like Italy.
So will the UK, and Canada.
We will not do this as well as Japan and South Korea.
We simply don’t have that capacity.
We should be able to outperform Mexico.

The sooner people stop hanging on to magical thinking and thin reeds of fanciful wishes, the sooner they can start wrapping their heads around why we’re doing what we’re doing, and what may happen to us despite those efforts.

The short answer remains: Stay home, and don’t catch this, so you don’t give it to 4 other people.

And whenever this is all over, it might be an excellent time to have a chat with your nominal federal government representative about things like EMTALA requiring hospitals to care for everyone without regard to ability to pay (and then FedGov – which means you – not paying for it either, until you get your insurance premiums), and about letting 40M blood-sucking leeches come here illegally and camp out for 50 years and crank out kids like dandelions dropping seeds, all on the taxpayer’s teat.
just saying.

*{Don’t believe me. As Casey Stengel said, “You could look it up.” It’s not like you’re going to work or anything, right? You can look up most of those numbers per country here or here. On the WHO site, look “by country” and pull the slider bar down to the last couple of lines. Note that they don’t precisely agree. Round it off. The SK number was courtesy of CNN. Wikipedia puts them at 12.3, not 22. Caveat emptor.}

It’s A Hoax! It’s Just Like The Flu!

h/t Peter

I hope this scares the shit out of you, wherever you are, and whenever you watch it. Maybe that’ll finally be enough to shut up the naysayers  that’re too smart to believe this thing might be a problem, beyond maybe their 401K (if they can count that high). (Nope. Some people are completely immune to anything less than this swimming up and biting them in the ass, talk smack the wronger they get, are allergic to reality, and spin fairytales like “this disease only seriously affects people in socialist countries/states/cities/places I don’t like, but will magically not be like that where I am ensconced, because viruses are political like that. Go ahead and whistle past the graveyard. More than one person in history has died with one hellva surprised look on their face. Color me shocked.)

It does me, and I’m back at work tonight.

This is what’s coming, sooner or later, in all likelihood.

Not from shakycam cell videos with no sound, not from massaged ChiCom news propaganda, but an in-depth SkyNews report on the Coming Reality, from a modern Western nation, a month or two farther along in this than we are now. Most patients in their 50s. Not 80s; not 70s; not 60s. In their 50s. (Show of hands out there: Who’s here from before 1970?) Burials every 30 minutes in the town cemetery. Two weeks on life support vents without recovery. (Being on a vent means a medically-induced drug coma, too, kids.) Good times, if you like reading about the Black Death in the 1300s.

This isn’t panic-mongering, it’s rubbing your noses in the truth.
For some people, that kind of a head-slap is the only way to finally get their attention.

If you can’t handle it, avert your eyes, and STFU, and let the grown ups deal with it.

You don’t have enough supplies, ammo, and hard-hearted friends inside your perimeter to deal with what happens if this crushes healthcare, and then all the wheels come off civilization. Pray that doesn’t happen.

You might have enough to make it through just the Kung Flu part, if no one loses their minds, and instead puts on their big boy pants, and deals with their own sh*t. For several months.

Say, howzat gonna work out for those in EBT-Land, over by South Gibbsmedat?

Just curious.

Qwitcherbitchin, stop going out to play in it, and ride it out.

And for the perpetually hard-headed, go back and read this post, from a lifetime ago, in this case two weeks exactly, and tell me afterwards how right or wrong I was in what I told you, plainly, then, versus what you’re experiencing IRL, now.

I’ll wait over here while you consider your replies.

Hospital beds per 1,000 population is but a part of the whole equation.

Eg., it is said that some of the hardest hit areas have much worse air pollution and cramped living conditions than other areas that are yet hard hit. The list goes on and on-plus there probably are variables that have yet to be identified.

What about genetics? How many factors are there in lifestyle choices?

This is not a one-dimensional world. But, for all the world’s complexity there are ways to simplify things. Those who know how to sift through all the clutter likely will do much better.

Pure coincidence you list only the variables where China is worse off?

Or whistling past the graveyard by you.

Mike, China was mentioned nowhere. The point was there are lots of other variables to consider. Maybe some have been completely overlooked. Perhaps you can show some intelligence and contribute something meaningful.

Did you make a point? Or are you here to argue because your wife is giving you a hard time?

Whatever you do, please don’t kick the dog.

This is Louboutins on the ground reporting from NYC. Where I live there are more hospitals per square mile than possibly anywhere else in the world. For chrissake I live near Rockefeller University (formerly known as The Rockefeller Institute for Medical research!)This report will mostly be about what I DON’T see. So I decided to explore first hand what was going on at the overburdened hospitals.
I explored one of the largest (Mount Sinai) and one of busiest (Metropolitan) and…I didn’t see anything. Nobody walking in. Nobody carried in. Nobody carried out. No ambulances loading or unloading. In fact, only a few parked ambulances. I peered through the emergency room windows, no bodies strewn about, in fact, I saw nobody except a few unharried workers.
As I pointed out in an earlier report, I also don’t see any homeless, panhandlers or everyday crazies. WHERE THE FUCK DID THEY GO? No sirens to be heard anywhere. Now there is the possibility emergency vehicles have been ordered to remain silent. But firetrucks, ambulances and police vehicles are as ubiquitous as taxis. And there are hardly any and I mean a real few, wandering the streets. WHERE THE FUCK ARE THEY?
I’ve never lived through a pandemic before so maybe this is the atmosphere during one. It resembles nothing of what I thought it would and I have been in the thick of many crises (9/11, Katrina, Sandy etc). This scene is uncanny.
There is also something else very, very odd. There are no NEWS REPORTERS ANYWHERE. No on the scene reporting at any of these hospitals or even on the street reporting. No camera crews getting B-roll and file footage? This is NYC, where are the news vans?
Editorial Alert!
We’ve been hoodwinked. This one world global collapse needed a bogeyman. I’ve come to realize this plandemic was the best they could come up with to control, corral and command a fluoridated population comprised of soy boys, butch goils and generally those with their heads up their asses. The rubber has hit the road. The masses need to be managed.
It also occurred to me some of the people walking the streets and sitting on the park benches are undercover agents. That’s the feeling I got. They have that look. Unassuming, but vigilant. I can smell a rat.
I am going to say it one more time for posterity. There is a serious virus, flu, cold whatever you want to call it. It could impact the seriously sick and afflicted the hardest. And I don’t want to hear any shit about it. But as God as my witness, MGM, if you lived near me and needed aid, I would have no fear of contagion coming to your assistance.
This is Louboutins on the Ground signing off.

I have hundreds of clients and none that I know of even know anyone in any state of the US who have contracted COVID19. (at least the ones I have spoken with in the last 6 weeks)

Being in NYC, I would think SOMEBODY you know or work with will eventually get the virus, am I wrong? Time will tell.

I work in an office building one day a week, rest of the week at home. A doctor that works upstairs in a pediatric medical office got it. He’s gone now, and the building got super cleaned (or so they say…).

Health officials in my podunk town of 12,000 say there is at least one confirmed case. Next podunk town over has several. I don’t know anyone by name yet. With incidence rate of roughly one in a thousand, it isn’t likely that I would. I will soon, I’m sure.

Washington DC distant suburbs but could be at the white house in under an hour.. nobody I know has it or even knows anyone who has it. Wife works at Inova… massive hospital and no Corona patients. I work at a hospital and 2 nursing home rounds..no Corona. I have kids in their 20’s..they don’t know anyone with it…my church, buddies, poker game, etc.. nobody has it or even knows anyone with it. HIPPA regulations are also very CONVENIENT- TPTB can just recite numbers and never release a single name of any person to verify.
We finally got our first “reported” case in my county…” A woman who traveled from out of state to visit family in —- county has tested positive” says the release on the Health Dept website… Again, very convenient that a non-local has supposedly brought it here and now all of our county is locked down..no way to even verify by word of mouth in our small population where we would normally know the identity in a few days by grapevine and/or gossip… I still think this whole thing is not about any Wuhan flu… This is TPTB’s big play for centralized control of the masses…

I work in a large west coast VA medical center. Every morning they send out an email with the #s of how many they’ve tested/ how many positive. They only test people with actual symptoms that match covid-19. The patient population for this hospital is hugely over 60 y/o so I would think their numbers should be higher than the general population. As of friday morning they had recieved 80 test results back and had 3 positives results. To me that seems like pretty low #s. I’m not saying it will stay that way, but if it is going to be as bad as we’re being told, we should start to see a big jump in positives in the next week.
The other thing theyve done is cancelled any procedure or surgery that is not absolutely neccessary so really everyone is just sitting around waiting. On friday i was on 2 seperate nursing floors and both of them had about 7 patients instead of their usual 40 or so.

If the patients aren’t going anywhere, and their exposure only comes from outside visitors, one should expect low exposure. Not questioning your questioning of the narrative, just saying. And of course, when you self-limit the denominator (the number of people tested), you can screw with the statistics pretty much any way you want.

The bit about the number of U.S. hospital beds is very misleading. The U.S. has the highest number of OUTPATIENT medical facilities (and related hospital beds) in the world. Indeed, the mostly privatized U.S. system places a heavy emphasis on non-hospital based options for all sorts of surgical procedures (knee replacement, eye surgery, cosmetic, etc.) These beds are not counted by the Socialist medicare for all crowd because it doesn’t fit the narrative, but they could certainly be used if needed.

True. In Italy, the public hospitals keep people in beds for a week for something that would be outpatient in the US (lithotripsy is one example in my personal experience). That’s because, like public schools in the US, the hospitals get reimbursed for full beds, not empty ones. They will even insist you check in Friday afternoon for a procedure that’s scheduled for Monday.

Never forget, that the AMA, the state legislatures, and city and county ordinances, CONSPIRE to control the number of hospitals and hospital beds in a given area. EVERY change to a hospital MUST be approved at numerous levels, and if a neighboring hospital objects, all plans can be scrapped. The FREE MARKET most definitely had NOTHING to do with this collusion or these shortages. It has all be a very well coordinated effort on the part of the western allopathic medical cartel, since the early 1900s, to reduce supply while increasing demand, so as to maximize profits for all (but the payers). As always….BLAME GOVERNMENT for providing the legal cover, guns, prisons, etc. to make it all happen for the AMA, etc.
