My son sent me a bottle of Maker’s Mark. Avalon is making cocktails for when I leave my basement office. It’s 80 degrees and sunny. May has been the coldest in decades – 7 degrees below normal. Overnight freeze killed my cucumber plants and a couple tomato plants earlier in the week.
Same here in the the South. A very cool April and May has wrecked havoc on warm weather crops like okra, watermelons , cucumbers and tomatoes. BTW, you could pass for a twin of my late Uncle Jim, the oldest of my dad’s 11 brothers . He liked Makers Mark, too and pretty much anything else over 80 proof. His most favorites things were whores ( the kind you pay) , bourbon , cigars, spinning yarns and riding his bicycle. He was the greatest story teller I’ve ever heard. He lived to be 88.

If you can find it, try the Costco brand of small batch bourbon. I was told it is made by the same people as Woodford Reserve and I can vouch for how good it is. TN stores cannot sell it, but I picked up some in FL a couple years ago and nursed it for a long, long time.

Happy Birthday! You would have been one of the popular kids in our school. We went to a meeting of high school kids (in Las Cruces) one time and an observer there said, You can tell the kids from Austin HS – they don’t talk to anybody.
