When I was in Afghanistan I watched Uncle Sam’s Misguided Children play jokes on each other. One of their favorite gags was an empty plastic water bottle, an MRE heater, and a bottle of hot sauce. A half-inch of hot sauce liquid would mix with the heater and create a simple pepper gas bomb. One of them was sleeping in his tent one day and another rolled a gas bomb inside. A few seconds later it popped and the victim rolled out gagging and cursing. Nasty stuff in a confined space, but bug spray mixed in would be way nastier.

Ya have to hit them straight in the eyes though with wasp spray. It’s irritant effects will work there. The nerve agents in wasp sprays are generally pyrethroids, that effect insects but not animals/humans. Bear spray is better IMHO.
Industrial grade ammonia in a small spray bottle. I prefer the new WD-40 cans with a squeeze handle. Can’t wipe it off and block a kick to the liver at the same time. If he cooperates and gives you time to get your bic out, spray it at his nuts. If it’s a her, spray the boobs. It’s understood by all people everywhere.
