Cancel culture is nothing new, especially in the hyper-sensitive world of 2020. Bloviating and whining about whatever has shredded your sensibilities this week is both a waste of time and excessive. More of the fact, the ire of these “Cancelers” can be multi-million, international corporations – virtually untouchable brands that heed no one’s words or opinions.
Enter Netflix, with their promotion and subsequent release of Cuties, a controversial French film that has seemingly been labeled as a “coming of age” story.
According to Rotten Tomatoes, Cuties follows 11-year old Amy, who lives with her mom and brother and is awaiting her father’s return from Senegal. Angelica – a “disobedient” kid and Amy’s neighbor – has a “free-spirited dance clique” named Cuties. Amy, “through an ignited awareness of her burgeoning femininity, propels the group to enthusiastically embrace an increasingly sensual dance routine, sparking the girls’ hope to twerk their way to stardom at a local dance contest”.
Trimming the fat, how the synopsis really reads is: Cuties, follows 11-year old Amy, who convinces a squad of prepubescent dancers to use a “sensual dance routine” to “twerk their way to stardom”.
Leave it to Netflix to provide such a wholesome and natural message for today’s youth – although after Big Mouth, none of this is surprising. However, it is wholly sickening not only to see clips and descriptions of the sexual gratuity in the film (from 11-year olds, nonetheless) but also the online pedo-sympathizers coming out of the woodwork to defend it. Notice how in Aja’s condemnation of the outrage above, she portrays it as propaganda fueled by “QAnon types and Anti-Semites”.
Somehow, those on the the left think it’s a good idea to designate the anger over Cutie’s sexual exploitation of children as a right-leaning view. That is certainly a winning position to take! No matter which way you cut it, for 11-year old girls to be directed and taught to lasciviously twerk and move their bodies in sexual manners is wrong – unless you’re this guy, apparently…

The objectification and oversexualization of minors shouldn’t be up for argument – but it seems like this is a hill many are willing to die on. Defending something as grotesque and obscene as Cuties should make you wonder what kind of people these are.
In Cuties, an 11-year old girl finds a used condom on the ground outside and puts her mouth on it to blow it up. An 11-year old girl sexts and publishes child porn of her own privates online. If you’re the type of person defending not only this sort of degenerate content but the suggestive twerking and dancing of children also showcased in the film, you need to reflect on who you are and what you believe in.
Furthermore, if these type of people are exclusively on your side and outrage over sexualization of 11-year old girls is written off as “right-leaning” or “conservative”, you need to start considering the goals and intentions that some of the people on your side have.
