Philadelphia schools launch ‘comprehensive initiative’ to end racism

Corporations Advise School Closings, While Private Charters Suck Public Schools Away

The Philadelphia School District is undertaking a project designed to purge its schools of “racist practices” such as “selective” admissions and teachers’ implicit biases.

According to Chalkbeat, Superintendent William Hite stated in a September 15 announcement that the district’s “equity coalition” will be an “organized effort to uproot systems of inequity’ which, over time, will include students, parents and community members.

The coalition will take action on things such as the “racial achievement gap, selective admissions policies, teacher diversity, and the underrepresentation of Black and Latino students in advanced courses.”

Teachers will be treated to workshops and inservices “with an anti-racism focus,” and will get lectured on how to teach “through the lens of cultural responsiveness.”

Laura Waring Elementary School Principal April Brown didn’t mince words on the importance of these efforts: “The lives of each and every child” depends on them.

From the story:

The project will be complemented by the Equity Partners Fellowship, which includes a class of 20 “equity fellows,” described as a year-long experiential learning opportunity for school staff — including central office administrators, school-based teachers, principals and support staff, and high school students. The fellows, who will be named and begin work this year, will lead equity groups within their school or office and mentor future cohorts, [Director of Special Projects Estelle] Acquah said.

The goal of the fellowship is to “build an army of equity champions across our district,” she added.

The admissions policies for magnet schools have resulted in the underrepresentation of Black and Latino students at the city’s most selective high schools, Central and Masterman. Alumni of the schools have demanded changes.

The district initiative comes as student math and English test results remain dismal. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported late last year that a mere 22 percent of Philly students were proficient in the former, and 36 percent in the latter. Both scores were well below the Pennsylvania state average of 42 and 61 percent respectively.

In addition, while an “imbalance” remains in the percentage of district black teachers compared to the black population of the city and percentage of black students in the district, it remains higher than national population figures. Of note, the number of black administrators in the district is almost double that of (black) teachers.

Lastly, the district’s finances remain a mess. Chief Financial Officer Uri Monson noted in late May the district projects a $700 million deficit in just over four years.

Translation – “Black families (70+% of which are single parent -mom) don’t do what they need to prepare their children for school, or support them once in school. Their poor achievement will never change unless this changes and we have no control over that. So to address the “inequality” that this creates, we are going to shit on all the white children and their education-supportive families (most of whom are two-parent) in purely racist and vindictive manner that will be portrayed as “equitable” so that white kids do as poorly as black kids…thus closing the gap.”

Yes, my thoughts exactly, the only viable solution they will come up with after such lofty promises is to bring the top down.
Way down.

None of it matters. Most sub-Saharan blacks are incapable of academic excellence. They are sub-80 in I.Q., and that means little prospect of being able to learn much. Look to Afreaka for proof

Politicians have tried various ideas over the years to bring equality around the world. It hasn’t happened. During the early 90’s if memory serves me correctly, a friend at work brought a written article to my attention. Basically it said that the Clinton’s’ had determined that the reason the rest of the world hated us was because we had to much. Their solution was to level the field so we all pretty much had the same as the person next door or across the globe. This thinking then would solve a lot of the problems we see i.e. war, protests, etc. I don’t remember where they were when they made this statement. It was at a meeting where all the brain trusts of the world showed up to stroke each other’s egos. It is now ~30 years later and I am firmly convinced that we are seeing this idea unfolding before our eyes. I don’t think the before mentioned pertains to the brain trusts in charge, only us slaves.

In related news, The Philadelphia School District announced that henceforth, IQ scores of 85 would become equal to 100, all people trying out for High School basketball teams would automatically become 6’9″ tall, and everyone (he, she, and zer) would be on the Cheer Leading Squad.

Or…they could just educate their students and hold them to standards which may enable them to assimilate into functioning society. Just sayin’.

These poor kids are behind the “8” ball with many things. Being firmly planted in the Forrest Gump echelon of the IQ world, no tradition of achievement at home and now being told the unionized teachers are going to make it all better by putting them further behind the rest of the world with no education at all.

If the parents do not care and can’t get rid of the school boards and the unions then the kids are doomed.

SHDR (Stupid Headline Didn’t Read)

But lemme guess, their going to eliminate race based hiring practices, increase requirements to actually pass (like being able to read, write, do basic arithmetic, and speak proper English), and remove all convicted felons and drug dealers from the school system.

How far off am I?

P.S. That IS sarcasm, in case you missed it. 🙂

You are right on the money….for the 1950s. But this is the 2020s, and actually promoting successful behaviors is “so white,” so will never be considered. In fact to even suggest such a thing is racissssssssssssssss.

Just cannot figure this out , nearly all city public school systems managed , attended and majority control by blacks spend more per student than any school system of similar size . They also typically have more black appointed administrators making $100 grand plus per year than any other system of similar size . Add to this planed disaster the fact that more white students test out of these dismal educational circumstances and BINGO DATS RACISS !
The achievement gap is matching the IQ bell curve and that’s just the facts !
Approximately 20% of the black population thrive survive and excel in a modern civilized technical society the other 80% spiral down to the lower levels of society because their IQ keeps them at subsistence levels of awareness . Jungle mentality and approach to life in general lands them in the system usually jail !
That’s not racist it’s just natural selection . All the plans programs and money pissed on the Wall is never going to change any of this and only liars and fools pretend that it will !

How many of these student’s moms dropped out of school and started having babies, just like their mothers and grandmothers did? Once they have their children, they get a government paid apartment and start getting money from the government. This allows them to go out partying all night and depending on Grandma to raise the kids. It is only fair, because Grandma did the same thing to her mother. The welfare state is driving black poverty and is doing nothing to improve the lot of these people.

The National Park Service learned this about bears, but the government doesn’t seem to think the same thing that makes a bear dependent on handouts applies to humans.

Dependency guarantees votes and support. Of COURSE they studied the bears and learned everything they needed to. A private charity would be concerned about such behavior, as they don’t know where their next dollar is coming from, and nothing is guaranteed. Government meanwhile simple STEALS all it needs or prints whatever it wants, and doesn’t give one shit about the fiscal consequences to anyone, nor the problems of breeding dependency or the destruction of the work ethic.

During 0bama’s years, I used the term trickle up poverty to describe his policies. The education system is doing the same thing, but to our kids/grandkids. I guess I could call it trickle up ignorance.

Let’s see……since 1966 the US has spent $22 trillion on the “War On Poverty”. How has that worked out? Wasn’t that money well spent? That’s right, it would have if more money would have been thrown at it. The solution as per liberals is spend more. When is enough, enough?
