I do not know if Denzel Washington is a douchebag, libtard, elite, American hating piece of shit.
I do know I’ve enjoyed every movie he’s in which I watched. I do know that graduation speeches are mostly boring and overly loooog and full of shit. This one is brief and full of wisdom. I do know that the advice he gives is invaluable and true. I do know many of you — not all — will be inspired by his words.
Always…ALWAYS move forward. The man is one hell of an actor and the words he speaks in this video ring true.
An older & a newer F(lick) D gets an A fave: Fallen (Ti-i-i-i-me is on my side – yes it is ♪♫♪) & Flight (just flip it upsidedown cake & have it – ya’ don’t have to eat it…)
Yeah. Good perspective.
But it’s also mathematical object – like. Constructed. Not ordained. Not a living thing out there in the wilds.
Mortal life is short & F(ail) F(ail) F(ail) can be the ride all the way to the end. It never has to go a particular way – except the way it went.
So it’s in the face of that Despite that D gets an A – for comporting “As If” (even if he mistakenly believes a recipe makes for a foregone conclusion).
(then there’s defining “success”…whose definition?)
“Flight” is an amazing film.
Yeah, it was. But the ending was a little by the book chafe, I thought.
The ‘equal under the law’ thing that levels down a la Vonnegut’s Harrison Bergeron.
Egalitarianism.
Sure, it was pained conscience first, legal taking its pound where it could second. Very high functioning drunk saved the day, most of the passengers & crew, & had the technicality-inquisition beat.
But being under the influence is under the influence of Bergeron World (whenever it can – if not the pilot character, then the stewardess character; *somebody* had to be sacrificed to those two vodka minibottles, cuz “the law”…& insurance lump sums & premiums & legal liability lottos…& other games behind those games).
(Or maybe Whip was just using the inquisitor to force his hand into a new routine. Ed Seykota says everybody gets what they want from the market. Which takes it too far – that’s Ed marketing to Ed, & whoever else will buy. But along those lines.)
Compare with the scene in Sully in which other pilots couldn’t pull the move, in a simulator, that Sully did. Bergeron was “therefore” hot to make Sully guilty. Egalitarianism.
Level down.
In “medicine” it’s the same algo. Take the cohort average, call that constructed composite wo/man “real,” all the better to reel ‘em in, & “push” a drug that the trainees were already clamoring for…so, make ’em jump thru some hoops to get it – makes ’em want it even more.
The whole “gnu control” thing. Pound the Level Down, make the previously caged veal into escalope & scallopini. “Thinner” was a Stephen King story that applies.
But it’s more like voodoo death curses: the black magic kills because the killed believe it kills; nocebo (tho the list of killing placebos is a lot longer).
Hoffer’s True Believer lives, dies, in a submission hold it puts on itself, but says to self “Bill Gates did it,” etc. Yeah, the wimpnerd did it…but whose the real wimpnerd?
Domestication’s a castrati choir singing a siren dirge to itself that it calls “civilization.” And it takes a lot of Bergeron egalitarianism to get to totalitarian control “civilization.”
damn, ‘i’,
time time time is on my id, yes it is
It has been said that suicide is painless.
you certainly torque the future
ride to live, live to ride
or die
Torquemada’ past a’ prologue; factory torque settings; tight little gr/id. Well, that’s what Hunter Thompson wrote: “This won’t hurt a bit.” But before Zed was dead, it hurt a lot. And the Die Hard guy, who made soooo much “hard” cash back in the day, is still pumping them out, & seems to be in pain in every one (wonder if that Demi had something to do with that apparent dent). Never has to go a particular way, including suicide.
& the pretty horse he rode in on. Typecast. Same as everybody, whether Shakespeare’s actors, or not. Same guy decides he’d rather walk into a different knife:

Man on Fire was definitely a good one. Plus Chris Walken.
Let me answer. Denzel Washington is a patriot who has never played the race card.
He visited severely wounded soldiers at Ft. Sam Houston burn unit. Somebody told him there was not enough lodging for family visiting their wounded loved ones. He pulled out his check book there and then and donated a huge amount to correct the situation, and never said a word about it. Enough said.
Didn’t know that. Thanks. Now I like him even more.
Hi Stucky. Always a pleasure to read your posts.
For what it’s worth, I’ve met the man, spent years in his neighborhood, and I have to admit he really is the same person privately that he is publicly.
A rare specimen I admit, but a work ethic and heart of gold I that I pray I can impresses upon my own son.
Bless you for posting. =)
Always a pleasure to read his posts? You clearly have missed a great many of his posts. He did not get to be Shit Stirrer Extraordinaire by writing nice posts like this. Nosiree.
I can’t believe you only got one up vote for your words of wisdom. And that was from me,
Ditto. Thanks Stucky. We can all use an inspirational message in these very dark times… Chip
He lost me this time quoting the scum Nelson Mandela, a fucking commie who murdered or ordered the murder of Lord knows how many. The shithole that is the today S Africa can be laid at his feet.
However I have never seen Denzel act publicly like a douche. He’s a well spoken, thoughtful man and has conducted himself honorably every time I’ve listened to him.
Exactly. When people quote a anti-White racist terrorist, they lose some of my estimation.
I have never fully understood that line of thinking. And that’s even though I do it myself from time to time!! How many times have we read here; “I stopped reading when ….”? I think it displays a certain level of ignorance. I’m talking about ME.
I am certainly no fan of Mandela! But the quote given by Denzel is so darn good — “There is no passion to be found playing small – in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.” — that we all would do well pasting that on our children’s bedroom wall.
Truth can be found almost anywhere, if you look.
When I , myself, do it there is almost always a little voice deep in the recesses of my brain whispering … “hey, moran, you’re probably missing out educating your fat ass”. Really.
I’m going to try to stop doing that.
Hmmm, so a quote from a murderer isn’t off putting? Would one from Hitler telling you to be the best you can put you off? Or Che advising you to eat healthy and exercise? How about Clinton saying no means no?
There’s nothing a fucking communist murderer is going to tell me that I’m taking to heart. I hope he’s got the suite next to Teddy and their screaming duets can be heard everywhere in hell.
That was fabulous. Thanks, so much for posting. When as many people know Thomas Sowell as Denzel we’ll get to the age of Aquarius.
Yeah, you’re right on point.
T.S. is the ONLY black scholar with enough integrity to write, in ‘White Liberals and Black Rednecks’, that when the Civil War began, the man who owned the most slaves was a black tobacco farmer in Virginia.
Hmm, he was pre-med. He does come across as intelligent. Why aren’t the good blacks raised higher in our society? No, we have to hear from the race baiters.
My Fav. Denzel.

Is there any Politician/Beureacrat/Popo who deserves this kind of hate crime?

Anyone who recognizes that failures come with life, owns those failures instead of finding others to blame, picks himself up and carries on the struggle to succeed, is quite rare nowadays. I’ve always liked his movies, and I’m pleased to learn that he’s one of the good guys in real life, too.
Thanks, Stucky, for posting this.
Denzel is a traditional American male. Met him when I worked in the airline industry and he is surpirsingly conservative. He did mention that he likes to call out interviewers on race baiting questions. Had a good chat with him when he found out I was ex military.
Dude has some of the best films ever.
