For this aging man, Kris Kristofferson is the best songwriter of my generation, bar none. Did you know he wrote over 400 songs?
A Rhodes scholar … a former Army Captain … an athlete …. who considered himself an “egghead” in love with romantic poetry …. a risk-taker who gave up a teaching position at West Point for a janitor’s job in Nashville to try his hand at songwriting ….. a true patriot, but with a dissenter’s heart …. and, yes, a gambler.
But, more than anything he is a deeply spiritual man … a man not afraid to sing of heaven … and hell …. of virtue, and lust … a man who knows body and soul cannot be divorced, for hell was born soon after heaven.
So, I totally via serendipity stumbled across a song of his this morning which I’ve never heard before; The Circle. It’s about Bill Clinton killing with a missile an Iraqi artist and her husband and the wounding of her children. His condemnation is powerful. He links that killing to the disappearance of so many Argentinians …. the world is a circle of sorrow. In both cases, no one is responsible. No one ever is.
It dovetails so nicely with Nicklethrower’s “Atonement” article. I hope you like the break from Covid stuff, and enjoy this deeply truthy song.
A long time client of mine is a long time, from the Army days, friend of Kris’s. He said he’s the best friend a man could have.
That was lovely. I always think back to just before that murderous bastard bush begins his war in Iraq he bombed a restaurant in Baghdad that Sadam frequented. When it was learned he wasn’t there it was treated by that monster and his lackeys like a humourous lark. Sotra like-Hey, we gave it a shot. Not one tear for the women and their children eating there, nor the kids bussing tables, nor the kitchen staff trying to peacefully scrape out a living.
Did you all see those murderous monsters bush, Bubba, and the Magic Mulatto telling us to do the humanitarian thing and get the jab? The background is the chapel at Arlington National Cemetary. Disgusting.
Thanks for posting
Rumor has it that Kristofferson “borrowed” a national guard helicopter and landed it in some Nashville big cigar’s house to get a chance to show his stuff…….and it worked………
Johnny Cash
Matthew 10:29
Are two sparrows not sold for a penny? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.
Kris revealed the story behind “Why Me Lord” and his spiritual awakening.
What he lacks in eloquence with his testimony is surpassed by his sincerity and humbleness.
Agreed, Kris is one of the greats. Dolly has also published 400 songs and written over 3,000.
A beautiful testimony.
His forgiveness happened 2,000 years ago for God does not impute trespasses to anyone(2Cor.5:19). All that is needed now for eternal life is to come to know Jesus(John17:3) confessing Him as Lord believing He has raised from the dead. Rom.10:9,10
Not to diminish KK’s talent but Bob Dylan is generally regarded as the greatest and most prolific songwriter.
I won’t argue that. I do enjoy his music, even though his voice is kind of nasal-ee.
Dylan was raised Jewish … converted to Christianity … and then returned to his Jewish roots. NTTAWWT.
It’s a personal thing … Kristofferson’s songs just move me more.

Bob Dylan dear lord its like fingernails on a chalkboard. That man sucks!
Remember him in the mini-series: Amerika?
I thoroughly enjoy this version of Help Me Make It Through The Night by the Highwaymen.
Great song.
He is a real man.
My favorite, although there may be others I didn’t know he wrote, is the Tompal and the Glaser Brothers cover of “Loving Her Was Easier.”
I’ve always been a fan of KK since a child. But he’ll forever be “rubber duck” for me. It’s the nerd in me that takes over sometimes I guess. =)
God blessed him with a moral compass, and had the grace to let us share some of it. I pray for that for my own son someday.
The body an soul can not be divorced because they are one and the same.
“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”Gen.2:7
A body with breath in it’s lungs is a living soul.
Stuck I hope you are well!
I am making an attempt to write an article right now that in some ways ties together the bit you wrote about the coming reset and Admin’s bits about shaking the jar.
Last week I was up to my old tricks of being a shitmonkey after getting into a row with some Karen online from the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia. This Karen is actually a man or at least what passes for one in today’s woke world. I said some mean things that hurt his feelz after the guy accused me of being a sociopath for not agreeing with his worldview. His argument that it was his business to tell me how to wear a mask.
And then I listen to this song you posted.
This world’s priorities are completely fucked up. How is it that Bill Clinton can do something like that, have a foundation named after him, steal money with impunity to this day, and a schmuck like me gets called everything but a white man for wearing a mask that is too low on his nose?
After I was done in email exchange telling that guy from the Valley to fuck off I wrote an email to the Attorney General of Nova Scotia. I figured if I am going to abuse someone with words I might as well go right to the top. In that email, I demanded my rights back that he took away. Doing my best to be polite, I pressed send and then just as quickly forgot about the whole damn thing. Didn’t figure I would get a response, seeing as the words I wrote dripped with contempt, and was very surprised when I did.
So I wrote back again figuring that I would get the last word. To my further shock then followed yet another response. Suffice to say I am not getting my rights back. Still, I found the entire exchange fascinating. I should try better to be a good boy. Let the Sociopaths in charge, decide what the message is between the signal and the noise.
A bit off-topic but seeing as you posted a song, I thought I’d post one as well Stucky. Nicklethrower was writing the other day about binaural beats.. Not sure if this is one but I do like the lyrics and the beat.
Anyways FWIW.
Admin thinks it would make a great bit! What do you think?
I am doing OK, thanks.
I am REALLY looking forward to your article!!
Tell your Attorney General that you have an American friend named Stucky who says he should suck Diseased Donkey Dick!

Want to add this tidbit about KK. I remember the 2nd album I ever bought in my life. I was 18 years old (my parents did not allow me to listen to rock ‘n roll in the house.) I was in Topeka, KS shopping for socks in a department store. They were playing a song “The Burden of Freedom” which caught my attention. Then other songs …. IIRC, the sad and haunting “Somebody Nobody Knows” also struck a chord. So, I went to the Customer Service desk, inquired, and bought their last copy of “Border Lord”. And been a fan ever since.
My first ever record album? Green River by CCR.
KK is a man’s man. There are few left inside the narrative these days.
Oh yeah… I did write back again to AG. I have the last word for now. Still methinks he will have the last one eventually. His last response contained not so veiled threats that I better be a good boy and not run afoul of his diktats. So far… I am being a good boy.
It probably won’t last…
OK, the video you posted. I haven’t listened to it yet … but, I will later. (My mother isn’t awake yet … and I need silence so I can hear when she gets up — I’m downstairs — and she always needs help getting out of bed).
Anyway, the first line of the lyrics — “Take off those headphones and let this world pour into you”.
Ok, cool. But, binaural beats are effective ONLY with the use of headphones. Quoting …
“Binaural beats plays two separate frequencies in each ear, which tunes your brain to the frequency that is the difference between the two. Because two separate frequencies are played in each ear, the only way binaural beats can be listened to effectively is through headphones.
You are probably right, still there is something about the remix that appeals to me. I can’t put a finger on it, maybe Nickelthrower might have an insight or two he could throw my way.
I realize that it is off-topic with this thread but just wanted to post.
Head eats tail, tail infiltrates head. Ouroboros is the circle…the “free” Krispy Kreme d’oh!nut.
Mickey Newbury, KK pal & influence. I like him, both of ‘em, a lot.
American Trilogy – 2/3 mythology, 3/3 musicology (the real, not the tenured academic, stuff):
Best Just Dropped In + I Wish I Was a Willow Tree
I need a fucken Captain Video Decoder Ring to decipher your posts. Sadly, I lost mine.
Cracker Jacks used to include one, but I’m not sure if they even put “prizes” in their sugar-shit boxes anymore.
Well, absent specific clarification requests…
KK’s tune is The Circle. You know what ouroboros is, a circled snake swallowing its own tail, &/or the tail ramming itself down its own throat. Call it the reptilian version of marsupial Pogo Possum (who never meets a mirror that doesn’t display his worst enemy), &/or of the Fight Club schizophrenia. All those metaphors are the vicious & venal & “prideful” murderous perversity that KK’s singing about.
I assume you’ve seen the stuff about free KK donuts (coffee, too), daily thru the end of the year, for any & all vox populi Homer Simpson (“mmm…donuts”) panem et circensis seatwarmers that show up & present proof they’ve been “vax”-jabbed.
Dixie & Battle Hymn of the Republic, juxtaposed actual humanimal – especially massed humanimal – actual history, are masturbatory mythology, while All My Trials isn’t slippery at all (even if it might strike some wistful-sentimental).
Musicology is what academics, not musicians, do, so I had to separate tenure-sheathed from skin in the game – to get the 3rd “ology” I needed.
Cracker Jacks…was ok way back in the day. But this outfit makes toffee, & toffee popcorn, that is a musical prize in its own right, & will decode the music of the spheres (ssssssss-fears), too:

Wow, oh wow. Now it makes sense.
You have a wacked out crazy mind … like Robin Williams on steroids. Take that as the highest compliment. It takes a LOT of intelligence to write the way you do. Keep on keeping on. I’ll try harder on your next entertaining post.
Doth the Stucky compliment too much? Dunno. Robin Williams, in his prime, might flash that insight. But the medium is the message & murky are both. Sweet Stuckeys Pecan Log Rolls (I never had one, but billboards across the country blasted invitations back in the day), or Stuka dive-bomber blasts, either way, thx, Stucky.
